What the fuck?!
"Please choose your choice before the dungeon collapses on itself!" (Thus crushing you to death!)
You have 30 seconds to make a choice!
I sat there for 3 seconds, reading the system panel, watching the time tick down in real time.
...Something tells me I might regret this. I waited for just 5 seconds for the system to tell me something, tapping on the options without selecting either.
Absolutely ZERO information as always.
Sigh
Whatever. I await your new treasures and relics!
Home planet has been chosen! Standby...
I disintegrated as always, and the pain was just as bad as before. But this time, I wasn't caught by surprise, so I managed to see something in the white space my brain struggled to comprehend.
I saw otherworldly creatures with infinitely long bodies covered in millions of tiny, streaming holes. Lovecraft would be proud.
{Void Touched}!
I felt minor fear, knowing that this creature surrounded me from all directions, like a suffocating brown bag. But… maybe because my body was being broken into pieces, it didn't feel too bad. Almost as if it wasn’t the worst thing to happen to me so far.
Grrgllgg.
The stomach of the beast that blanketed the land with its void-flesh rumbled with hunger. [Mana Sight] whispered to me that something was spying on me. I couldn't feel anything due to my current lack of a body, but I sensed the massive eye of the beast staring greedily at my soul.
...
Rumbling waves, too low for me to understand, spoke to me through [Mana Sight]. I felt all of reality pass by me: past, future, things before the Big Bang of mana that began this universe, and the decay of mana at the universe's end.
A revelation struck me.
I ascended through all of time in an instant before a system message forcibly entered my vision:
Your Mana Mastery has reached Level 2!
[Mana Sight] has elevated and leveled up!
[Mana Sight] Lv.1!
[^Mana Sight] Lv.2
Due to being observed by the form of an eldritch without going completely insane, your Willpower has been Aspected!
Intelligence has become: {Insanity}
Willpower +9
INS +8
Insane? I don't feel insane. Who’s Ins—
WHAM!
I hit the ground. Hard.
Like, really fucking hard. Purple blood spilled from my leg, which dangled loosely, and the wind stung as it wrapped around the clearly broken limb.
...Maybe I should take a small bite... No! What am I thinking?! Survival first!
I looked around my environment and was flash-banged by sensory overload. Bright, blurry lights overwhelmed me, like [Mana Sight] was on, though I didn’t remember activating it.
I looked into my soul space and saw the [Mana Sight] switch forcefully held in the "on" position by [Pain Resistance]. It muttered:
"Too… much… information..."
I felt its struggle, the massive burden of information it was holding back to keep me sane.
What... do?
Okay. First, identify the problem: too much information clogging up [Pain Resistance], forcing [Mana Sight] to stay on so I could keep my eyes closed.
Good. Now, a solution!
...Remove my eyes?
What? Why would I—
Hold on! If I dig out my eyes, there will be less information for [Pain Resistance] to carry.
...Sounds good!
KUSH!
I removed my eyes with deliberate swiftness, using my fingers despite their lack of precision, and placed them in my mouth in a desperate, almost instinctual, act of survival. Mmm! Tasty!
Buzzt.
A stunning sensation hit my tongue. [Pain Resistance] promptly disabled tasting to reduce sensory backlog.
"You’re no fun, [Pain Resistance]!"
"You’re the one who decided to look a higher concept in the eyes."
Fuck you!
I ignored it, letting [Pain Resistance] struggle with the absurd backlog and my leg slowly heal. I pumped mana into the wound, matching my regen per second, but stopped myself from activating [Unyielding Vitality].
"Don’t!" [Pain Resistance] snapped.
Fine! Whatever.
I sat there, unmoving, for about five minutes until I felt a burning sensation in my empty sockets. Oh, my eyes are healing!
Quickly, I dug out the re-growing parts, but this posed a problem. How do I stop my eyes from regenerating?
Ideas flooded my mind:
* Block the sockets with something?
* Burn the tissue with mana?
* Leave them alone and let them heal?
"NO!" my instincts screamed.
Alright, fine! First, find something to block the sockets.
Still blind, I groped around the blurry ground. I couldn’t distinguish between rocks and bird shit, accidentally smearing the latter on my fingers.
Slurp.
Buzzt.
Nope. Still can’t taste!
I kept searching, feeling a bite on my back. Memories of Sand Bottles surfaced as I instinctively grabbed the offender and—
KRUNCH!
I bit through a spine, grazing against a smooth, mana-brimming object: a mana stone?
Grabbing it, I realized it was perfectly shaped to fit my eye socket.
SQUELTCH!
The stone snapped into place, clearing my vision slightly. [Mana Sight] adapted, reducing the disorientation.
Perfect! Though I doubted I’d find another such stone. I tore off a strip of—wait, I’m still naked?!
Panicked, I looked for anything to cover myself: grass? Funky rocks? Burning blue-purple mana approaching rapidly?
Wait. Approaching?!
STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!
A giant figure loomed closer, a deep, youthful voice resonating:
"Greetings! Do you understand me, young one?"
Looking up, I saw a towering figure—easily 6'7"—his Greek-style garments adorned with intricate golden patterns that shimmered with an almost divine radiance. His piercing blue eyes seemed to glow with an intense energy, and his deep reddish-orange hair caught the sunlight like a halo of fire, exuding an aura of overwhelming power and ancient authority. He looked... like Hercules?
"Ah! I see the recognition on your face. I am indeed Hercules, son of Zeus! You may have my autograph later, but for now, we must get you to a town before stray witches find you."
Witches?!
Fear gripped me. Despite not remembering much about Greek mythology, I knew enough to feel uneasy.
"Are you injured, Young one? Is that why you refuse to speak?" Hercules asked, concern in his voice.
Too self-conscious about my purple teeth and their foul stench, I simply nodded.
"Ah, yes! From what I can tell, we are about five days from the nearest town. Prepare for a long walk!"
He grabbed my arm, slinging it over his shoulder as we began our journey.
...
Hours later, covered in dirt and mud, I was beyond annoyed. Hercules tried to cheer me up, but his "motivational" speeches only made me scowl harder. My stamina drained rapidly, and my leg throbbed despite the makeshift splint.
Out of nowhere, a glowing blue reindeer lunged at me.
Dexterity +1
I dodged mid-air, its cracked skull oozing blood. Hercules yelled belatedly:
"Watch out! It’s a Cold-Aspected Undead Hujie!"
Gee, thanks! Could’ve used that warning earlier.
With a burst of golden mana, Hercules obliterated the creature, weaving an intricate spell to release its soul.
"May Elysium serve you well," he whispered. His juicy neck is right there...
I stared in awe, both at his power and the glowing green ghost drifting from the corpse. Before I could fall, he caught me, apologizing as he set me back down.
Ignoring him, I scavenged through the remains of the reindeer, my desperation for sustenance overriding the strict warnings Hercules had given me about eating anything off the ground. He had claimed it would "stunt my growth into a man" or some equally overbearing justification, but at that moment, hunger drowned out reason.
I hated this.
I sat in sullen silence, the frustrations of the day coiling tightly in my chest. It wasn’t just the hunger gnawing at my insides or the ache in my injured leg—it was everything, all at once. Every fiber of my being screamed in protest.
[Preditor] was growing restless of not consuming the prey.
I really hated this.
----------------------------------------
As the days stretched on, hunger became a clawing, gnawing force within me, more feral than any beast. The dull ache in my stomach transformed into a sharp, hollow pit, an unrelenting void that seemed to devour not just my body but my mind. The rhythmic plodding of Hercules’ footsteps beside me became a torment, each heavy stomp pounding against my temples like the ticking of some cruel clock.
At first, I tried to distract myself, counting the leaves on the scraggly trees or the cracks in the barren dirt beneath us. But soon, the numbers blurred into meaningless symbols, each step forward blending into an endless spiral of torment.
INS +1
The smell of Hercules’ rations—fresh bread, dried meat, and sweet fruits—became unbearable. I knew he offered them to me, but pride, or perhaps spite, made me refuse. Instead, I stared at him with hollow eyes, my throat dry as sandpaper, bile rising in my chest. He ate sparingly, making sympathetic comments about my "need to find strength within," but his words only fueled the wildfire of resentment.
Grrgglll...
You Are now starving! Please consume something that your race is capable to consume to continue regenerating Stamina!
When the hunger began whispering, I wasn't surprised. At first, the whispers were faint—unformed thoughts clawing at the edges of my mind. But as the hours turned to days, they grew louder, more insistent...
Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.
My thoughts could barley take hold, I felt something that should have been deactivated take advantage of my sorry state.
"Take his food."
"[Bite] him."
"Why not? He’s not even paying attention."
[Preditor] was growing restless, and I felt my teeth dig deeper into my gums and blood flooded into my throat.
A [Preditor] does not hunger for its own blood.
I shook my head violently, trying to silence them, but they only laughed—a cruel, high-pitched giggling that echoed endlessly in the caverns of my empty stomach. My nails dug into my palms, the pain a temporary relief from the swirling maelstrom of hunger and madness. [Pain resistance] was failing at holding off all of the sensory input.
The world around me twisted, reality warping as the edges of my vision blurred with phantom shapes. Shadows moved when they shouldn’t have. The barren landscape morphed into a grotesque feast in my mind—trees dripping with glistening fat instead of leaves, the ground a crusty loaf of bread. The air itself seemed thick with the scent of roasted meat, a cruel mirage that made my mouth water even as my body stumbled under the weight of starvation.
INS +1
Then came the hallucinations.
At first, it was small—a glimmer of purple in the distance, a flash of light I could almost believe was real. But soon, the hallucinations overtook me entirely. Hercules’ voice became distant, replaced by strange, guttural sounds I couldn’t comprehend. His golden aura pulsed in time with my heartbeat, his very presence radiating warmth and life I desperately craved.
INS +2
One night, as he slept beside a small fire, I crept closer. My trembling fingers reached toward his pack, drawn by the phantom smell of salted pork wafting from within. My rational mind screamed at me to stop, but the whispers egged me on. The bag wasn’t food anymore—it was salvation, pulsating with mana and sustenance I could almost taste.
"Just one bite," the whispers purred.
"He’ll never notice."
But as my fingers grazed the pack, Hercules stirred. His eyes snapped open, glowing faintly in the firelight, and I stumbled back, my heart pounding as shame and rage warred within me. He said nothing, simply watching me with an expression that was equal parts pity and disappointment.
That was worse than any scolding. I felt shame for attempting to take a piece of the first kind person I had met in this place. Why do I always do this to people...
EMP +1
I saw the notification. The mixture between Shame and the addiction I had grown from seeing numbers rise had shook me to silent sleep.
----------------------------------------
[0/ 115 Sp] You are Exhausted! Due to already having the starving condition, you are in exhaustion!
By the fifth day, I could barely stand. My legs wobbled beneath me, my body weakened to the point of collapse. Every step felt like dragging a corpse—my own—through the endless, featureless wasteland. The whispers had grown louder now, a cacophony of voices screaming at me, mocking me, begging me to give in. I clutched my head, muttering nonsense under my breath, trying to drown them out.
INS +1
Hercules offered to carry me, but I refused with a quick selfish motion. Even as my body failed me, my pride held me, a stubborn anchor in the storm of insanity. I knew I looked like a madman—eyes sunken, lips cracked, purple blood crusting my wounds—but I didn’t care. The hunger was my world now, an all-consuming beast that gnawed at my very soul.
WILL +1
I felt a small amount of clarity as my pride attempted to center me.
By the time the settlement's gates came into view, I was barely human. My vision swam with spots of darkness, my limbs moved on autopilot, and the whispers had grown quieter, replaced by a bone-deep emptiness. I felt like a husk, a hollow shell dragging itself forward on sheer willpower and spite.
"Here we are," Hercules said, his voice like thunder in the distance. "You made it."
I wanted to laugh, but all that escaped was a dry, rasping sound. My legs buckled, and I collapsed into the dirt, too weak to care about the crowd of curious onlookers gathering around us.
As darkness swallowed me, one thought echoed in the void:
"Never again."

I awoke and expected great hunger... But none came.
[Pain resistance] had finished dealing with the backlog, and had become stronger for it. Although pain is subjective, it was stretched by [Pain resistance] because it could block other feelings, like blocking out discomfort or helping with processing information.
But at its core, Pain is just information. So It wasn't hard to stretch this concept of resisting the pain that afflicted me.
The skill stretched the meaning of Pain to spread the lode of insanity around all of my skills individually. (Except for he we shall not name!)
[Pain resistance] Lv.2!
I looked around. The insanity that assaulted me before evaporated, and something that wasn't [Bite] retracted my teeth from my bloody gums. In my envoirment I saw a room of marble and pristine artistry and articulation.
I sat in a warm blue liquid that was brimming with mana. I decided to take a little sip.
Slurp.
I felt My [Poison resistance] grow minutely, but I was willing to take any amounts of growth.
...Eww! It taste like those dogs that I ate in that dungeon... Wait.
I observed the mana again, it was clearly very similar to the Mana that was Covering my chompers. The [Pestilence] or what ever the fuck it was! The only difference between the 2 was the sheer amount that was covering me from head to toe in this... pod?
My mana eye was constantly glitching(?) and I decided to just munch on it because it was basically useless now that [Pain resistance] was back in the game.
I felt burning as my eyes actively drew in the nasty tasting mana liquid to heal themselves fully. This trivial amount of searing pain was nothing to the hunger that was consuming me earlier, so I just kept on slurping up the Mana liquid as a past time to help [Poison Resistance] grow a little while I am stuck in this steel textured pod that is covering me entirely except for a higher area where I was Hovering and getting air from.
Slurp!
Slurp, Sl-
Slurp!
I kept chugging away, until I saw a door in the corner of my vison move very slowly and near silent despite the clearly old infrastructure of this area I was inside of.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
The taps of those classic Greek sandals quietly across the room, until her relatively covered body was in the middle of the room. She breathe deeply, then...
*Breath...
"WAKE THE FUCK UP YOU PINE CRALLING CENTIPIDES!!"
She spoke with surprising conviction for he small size, but her horse bottom half gave her enough Hight to be believable. I could see the multiple bandages that were clinging to her lower half's legs, and the many scars that covered the skin that was being shown through he mostly Greek Robe covered skin.
I stopped slurping up the raw flesh flavored liquid to pay attention to the commanding voice coming from the middle of the room, and it struck me how out of place her presence felt. A centaur with the confidence of a commander, her voice reverberated like the clash of thunder. Her horse-like lower body was muscular yet worn, every scar a testament to battles fought. Despite the stark intimidation she radiated, there was a certain charisma in her gaze—one that demanded respect rather than fear.
Her piercing green eyes locked onto mine, even through the murky liquid of the pod I was floating in. Her lips curled into an almost disdainful smirk as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"So, you're the one Hercules dragged back, huh?" she said, her tone dripping with skepticism. "A starved whelp with half a soul and not an ounce of sense left in their brain. Figures."
I glared at her—or at least tried to. The blurry edges of my vision made it difficult to fully convey my irritation. Instead, I slurped loudly from the mana-rich liquid, hoping to drown out her condescension with my exaggerated gulping. I got back to grinding my [Poison resistance].
Slurp!
She scoffed, shaking her head. "Cute. But if you think I'm going to babysit a Void-Touched runt with more insanity than strength, think again." She pointed a bandaged finger at me. "Either show me you're worth the trouble, or I dump your sorry hide back into the wastes."...How does she know my stats?!? Also what does she mean by wastes? I know I didn't see much because of my lack of eyes, but I don't know if I would call that place the wastes...
I tried to respond, but my throat was parched from both the mana infusion and my earlier dehydration. All I could manage was a hoarse croak. My teeth locked harder than before, [Bite] was trying to tell me that this person was danger in the least noticeable way.
Her eyes narrowed. "Figures. Well, if you're half as stubborn as Hercules claimed, you might survive long enough to entertain me." She turned on her hooves with a sharp motion, the rhythmic clopping echoing through the marble chamber. I was starting to wonder if I was actually going insane because I could have sworn I had heard sandals, But then I saw a figure made of pure dark mana following behind the scary horse lady, and recognized that it was what made the noise.
Before leaving, she glanced over her shoulder. "Clean yourself up and get moving. You're being evaluated the moment you step out of that pod. Fail, and you'll wish the void had finished you off."... Dommy mommy? I'm feeling a little nefarious...
The door creaked shut behind her, leaving me alone with my thoughts—and the nauseating taste of raw mana coating my tongue. My mind swirled with questions, but one thing was clear: survival was still a battle I hadn't won. Before now the only option of fighting that I had was taking a huge [Bite] out of anything that was opposing me, but if I ever meet an enemy that can't be damaged the conventional way my entire build falls apart. If I had to fight the zombie 'Hujie' or what ever he said, I don't think I would be able to channel my comparably small mana reserves that well to serve out that magnificent punch.
I would have been doomed.
I glanced at the liquid around me and sighed. "Alright, time to figure this out."
Slurp.
Thinking about it I start analyzing my options.
So how do I deal with enemy's that can't be damaged with physical methods?
1. I could learn more about my skills, and see if there is one that can already do so.
2. I could try to gain some more information on how to use my mana from the locals of this world, because it seems that everybody does.
3. I could try to figure out what type of damage is effective against those types of enemies, and just improvise.
... Who am I kidding!?
I'm gonna do them all anyways!
First of all, Slurp.
Second of all I think I already have an Idea about a skill that may help me deal with high Health and/ or incorporeal enemies.
My trusty [Bite] due to its aspect! And if I'm correct in my assumption that mana can be used to add some kind of mana damage to physical attacks, just as Hercules did, Then I would already have a solution if I included plan 2.
I will learn enough from the locals of this world about mana, and learn how to deal with trouble some enemies!
I checked my status.

wait... Why no Insanity Perk?
You have gained the Perk: {Fractured Insight}
Once per day you may ask a single question, and it shall be answered.
{This answer may be cryptic.}
... I mean, There's no point in waiting? Right?
I used the perk, and I saw a purple window with an empty text box and a small keyboard that was attached to it.
So... I just type it in?
I though about it.
What to ask...
I could ask what world I'm in?
I could also ask for an powerful fact about mana...
... I could ask who killed me.
I made a decision in that very moment.
Q: Who murdered me?
...
A: When it comes to the end, you might find that the difference between you and the people around you isn't so large...
Wow! That answered absolutely nothing!

At least I got a little information on one of my perks...
{Fractured Insite} Used! Applying penalty...
You have gained Mana Poisoning!
...Does this stupid ass system not relies that I already have mana Poisoning?
I felt large amounts of Mana enter my body and I activate [Unyielding Vitality] with a quick punch in my mind space to the punching bag so my body doesn't get too weak while I let [Poison Resistance] remove the bulk of the negative condition.
Although [Unyielding vitality] is heating up my body quickly by using extra resources to speed up my metabolism, The increase of Metabolism is healing my body faster then its being torn apart by the overuse of cell activities. I am starting to get slightly scared that I might develop cancer again, but I haven't gotten another system message since opening my status.
I start feeling a little hungry because of the increase of used nutrients, so I start slurping up the mana slime.

the pod was completely cleaned out by the end of my hour long grind. I'm still a little Peckish...
[Poison Resistance] Lv.1!
I felt the skill settle deeper, and resonance between it and Mana addict activated as it finished dealing with the moderate amount of mana poisoning. The concept of poison was stretched slightly...
I came apon a conclusion that was true from the start.
I Just love seeing numbers rise!
With new found determination, I jumped out of the pod after a couple more big gulps of the mana slime, then fall face first to the floor with a PLAP! after catching my ankle on the corner of the rectangle shaped trapdoor that I just hopped out of.
[2182/2184 Hp]
I took barley any damage and I jumped up hoping that nobody noticed my slip up after getting out of the slick slime, but I could see the outline of an eye shaped camera in the corner of the room with [Mana Sight]. That's DEFINITLY NOT creepy! Is this what the Centaur lady meant?
I looked around the room and walked to the west towards a placed labeled 'Men's Showers' while I walked past mana other pods in the well lit room with a multitude of different mythological creatures that I still couldn't get a clear look at because of my fucking eyes. Do I need fucking glasses for a second time?
I walked past many colorful murals pumped full of almost blindingly bright mana, not too different from the mana that Hercules mega punch used. I still don't know how he changed his mana like that, because I could see that his mana was entirely purple and light blue while it was inside his body...
Whatever~! Imma go take a shower...

Back at Mr. Eggshells school...
I was sitting in my room just 50 minuets after I sent that peasant straight to his doom via my dungeon that I had inherited from my former predecessor, I had gotten a notification.
One of Your Slaves have set themselves free by claiming one of your dungeons!
...WHAT!
How did that... WEAKLING manage to beat a Boss??!
Did he actually do it?... No! He must have somehow cheated!
He's no even a noble, this must have been a mistake... Unless?
My mind spiraled. How could someone who isn't a noble complete a dungeon? That's completely unheard of, and I was absolutely sure that I him Bond one of his skills??
...
Sending him there was a mistake! If he is really that talented then I need to include him in my Heritage!
RING! RING! RING!
I ringed the bell next to me 3 times to notify my body guard, and grabbed him on the shoulders as soon as he materialized using a skill that I had lent him.
"WE NEED TO GET THAT PEASEMNT!"
I screamed almost unprofessionally and my loyal guard responded.
"...Do you happen to mean the one you sent to the library?"
I looked at him and he slightly flinched, but I ignored it and gave him the order one final time.
"I. SAID. GET HIM!"
He backed off, dematerializing for a second, then reappeared at the other side of the room with a terrified expression.
"Y-Yes Sir!"
He ran up to the teleport formula, and disappeared to the library.
I sat down and grabbed my luxurious Cigar from its velvet case. Taking a puff, I sat back and started thinking about which half elf daughter of mine that I would marry to my new son that would bring me great fortune and prestige!
Puff~
Puff~
Puff~
I calmed down and started looking trough my experience notifications from the Exp share that I had implanted on my all of my kids with a joyful smile.
