My name is Matthew Oswald I was born in the kingdom of Alfhiem on the DAY 13 MONTH 5 of the YEAR 3856C, I'm what you may call an adventurer, I work for the guild and earn money by slaying monsters, taking on quests on the guild or rading dungeons. On the DAY 8 MONTH 3 of the YEAR 3879C I took a quest to investigate a forest nearby a small village, the forest's name is Youtsu it's a forest famous for beginner adventurers because of weak monsters that live there. The villagers and Adventurers have recently reported that there have been no signs of animals and monsters around the forest, normally the forest is packed of animals to hunt for the villagers and weak monsters for adventurers that are still beginners yet there were no sightings of them which is not normal.
In my opinion there are 2 reasons that this is happening, the first reason is that a powerful monster appearing disturbing the balance of the forest resulting in the monsters and animals leaving the forest or if the monster is powerful enough that it annihilated the other monsters and animals and that would alert the guild and they'll send out a high ranking adventurer to exterminate it, the second reason would be the appearance of a dungeon because dungeons radiates a lot of mana thats why the animals would stay away from it as far as possible and the weak monsters would get scared because dungeons houses strong monsters because of high concentration in mana though dungeons rarely come up so it's highly unlikely.
I arrived at the forest and entered deep, as I looked around I really didn't find any animals or monsters in the forest it was so quiet that it was a bit scary, there were no signs of foot prints or scratches of claws on the trees which led me to believe it wasn't a strong monster that scared the animals so the only thing that i think is responsible for this is the appearance of a dungeon, still it wouldn't hurt to stay cautious it may just end up being a powerful monster that is responsible for the disappearance of the animals and monsters.
Now the only problem would be how to locate the dungeon. I'm a swordsman and I don't know how to feel mana like the mages so it would be hard for me to locate the dungeon, my only choice would be to go deeper into the center of the forest and search there and if I still don't find it and it starts to go dark I would have no choice but to camp out here and continue tomorrow.
As I continue to walk deeper into the forest i feel the atmosphere getting heavier and heavier though only to the point of the air getting a bit denser, I continued to walk for quite a while I found a big tree a really tall and big tree at least 5 times bigger than a normal tree, I don't really know how i didn't see this when I was still outside of the forest, maybe it was some kind of concealment barrier? I don't have proof though because I'm not a mage. I circled around the tree and found a cave like opening on its trunk, (so it really was a dungeon just as I thought) the inside of the opening on the trunk looked quite spacious contrary to the appearance outside, just the same as any dungeon you'd find.
monsters doesn't really come out of dungeons the reason is still a mystery and also monsters doesn't really appear in the higher floors of a dungeon though the lower you go the more monsters you will encounter, it was theorized that maybe because the lower the floor the higher the concentration of mana and also the stronger the monsters appear. I'll enter the dungeon to scout out what monsters appear inside the dungeon once I find out what kind of monsters live in the dungeon i'll leave and go report to the guild. As I entered the dungeon I saw the walls was covered with roots maybe it was because the dungeon appeared inside the tree, I continued to walk to find the way leading down where monsters start to slowly appear but what I found was a door, when I opened the door it revealed a room and in the middle there was a bizarre pillar with a magic crystal like thing on top though it was quite big for it to be a magic crystal so maybe not, as I look around the room to check if there are anything other than the pillar I noticed that the roots have stopped growing in front of the door as if stopped by something maybe it was the pillar, (weard is it a pillar that wards off the roots? but what for?)
I wanted to enter the room to check what the pillar was forbut stopped because I thought there might be traps inside, I looked at pillar again and this time the pillar glowed not too bright but enough for me to look at it without hurting my eyes and the longer I looked at it my consciousness seemed to be drawn by it, and I entered the room without knowing what I was doing and then the there was a loud cracking sound and the light at the pillar was gone then I regained my self, I thought it was a trap, I was panicking then I looked around to find where the sound came from. I looked at the wall then I saw a crack and it started to spread, at first I thought it was the wall that was cracked but as I looked closely it wasn't the wall that was cracked but rather the space itself, it didn't make any sense and when the cracks covered the entire room light started coming out of it, no rather than light more like empty space was coming out of it and that empty space covered the entire room. The stuff that was happening around me didn't make any sense like I was in a high fever and then suddenly words started to flow into my head.

[Do you wish to SAVE?]
(SAVE? save what?) The words that was in my head didn't sound like a voice maybe because it wasn't a voice rather it was just words that flowed in my head without any sound. (What should I do? do I save? what am I saving anyway?) as I ponder for a moment I thought (maybe it ment to SAVE my self but from what? I really don't have any choice here) I reluctantly chose to SAVE and the moment I thought of that the space around me trembled and then another wave of words flowed inside my head. [You have chosen to SAVE. SAVEPOINT Has been SET] then everything went to normal in an instant, (What was that? was it all just my imagination? no i can still clearly feel and remember the words in my head. then what should I do? should I continue? I still don't know what kind of monsters lie beyond) I continued to the stairs right behind the pillar to atleast check what kind of monsters are in the dungeon so that I could report it to the guild.
I am now in the second level inside the dungeon, all I've been seeing so far was just goblins also the deeper I go the more of them seem to appear, (maybe I should go back now I'll just go and report to the guild that on the second level goblins appear and maybe I should also report about that pillar) as my mind wondered I let my guard down and goblin was able to sneak up on me and stabbed me on the back (GWAK) the goblin stabbed deep into my back and I thrust my sword at the location where the goblin was and stabbed him at the head, it died instantly and I took out the dagger that was still stuck on my back (damn it!. It was poisoned huh, how stupid I let my guard down I didn't even bring an antidote. Looks like I'm gonna die here. damn it! ugh. it hurts like crap!) I fall down on the ground and started to lose my consciousness.
(Aaaahh) I woke up inside the room where the pillar is and there was a faint glow on the crystal but then it dimmed back (was that a nightmare? was I sleeping in this room all this time?... No I can still clearly remember the pain of the dagger and poison, so was it real then? then why am I alive?).....
End of Chapter 1 - The Founder Of The SAVEPOINT System
The book then closed and the front cover is shown along with the title of the book.
[THE CHANGES IN THE DUNGEONS]
"Matthew Oswald huh.... Such a nostalgic name"
The young man said as he staired down at the book with his Mystic Blue Eyes, and his hair was a Silvery Snow White, and his Smile was so warm. It was as if he was the painting of perfection.
"YEAR 3879C.." He looked at the calendar "YEAR 4254D.... It's been more than 300 years huh"
The young(?) man looked at the room he was in and it was filled to the brim with books then he looked at his desk filled with stacks and stacks of books.
"I guess that's it for today."
The young(?) man stands up and left the room...
