Whoa, one year already passed since I was born in here.
My planning went smoothly, and my parents, while greatly surprised by my quick development, didn't think of me as weird.
Well, I think so.
I mean, I don't know how fast babies are suppose to grow up, but my parents seems like they're really happy when they see me.
They looked worried the first month, but nada since then.
Ah! I discovered several things since I was able to move freely through the house.
Well, I say house, but it looks more like a small Middle-Age castle on top of a hill, with a village at some distance down there.
So, yeah, I live in a castle! And we have 3 maids: Sylvia, Julie and Catherine.
Sylvia is the head-maid. She's 1m70 tall and has a slender figure. She has black long hair tied in a ponytail, and she wore simple-looking glasses on her pointy noise. Behind those glasses, you could see two chestnut darting eyes.
She is really strict towards the two other maids, but it's normal, considering her position. On the contrary, she seems to care a great deal about me. Since I started to walk, well I mean since I officially started to, I've been meeting her a lot. Every time, she would talk quickly with me, asking if I needed anything, and giving me sweets if she had some on her! I suspect her to always carry sweets only for this purpose, though.
Aaaah, just how nice is she?
Well, concerning her job, it seems that she also act as our secretary. She's managing our estate, collect taxes, and help the village when problems arise.
On the other side, Julie and Catherine are sisters. Julie is 20 and Catherine turned 23 not so long ago. They both look like each other, slender figure, long legs, shoulder length braided hair, sparkly eyes and a cheerful atmosphere.
But while Catherine has blond hair with blue eyes, Julie has ginger hair and eyes the colour of amber.
Catherine's job is cleaning the castle and preparing our meals, while Julie is mainly taking care of me. She's the "mysterious girl" I often saw before. She's very nice, and she always tells me bedtime stories I never heard about before, talking about great adventures and heroes protecting people from fearful monsters.
I think I can say that, even if she takes care of me because it's her job, she's the first friend I made here.
Well, now that I've talked a bit about the people living with us, I'll bring up the main topic.
That is: I reincarnated, but definitely not in my time-line!
Well, at first I thought I was born in a poor country somewhere in East-Europa, but I quickly corrected myself. I mean, horse carriage, maids, a castle, the clothes,… And the looks I received when I asked about phones, internet, and such things…
“Inn-ternet? I've never heard about an inn called “Ternet”. I am sorry Abigaelle-sama.”(Catherine)
“Fauns? Did you saw one? Where?”(Julie)
Well, I quickly dismissed their questions by saying it was nothing, but then I understood I was no longer in the 21th century.
I mean, even people living in the Amazonian Forest know about phones to some extent!
I'll have to figure out "when" now is exactly.
And where!
Maybe I'll get to meet famous people like Jeanne d'Arc, or Napoléon... or maybe Shakespeare!
Well, now that I have said that, it's time to party.
Why you ask? I told you earlier! It's been one year since I arrived here.
So, yes, basically, it's my birthday!
Yay!!!
No, I'm not overreacting at all!
I mean, it's going to be my first birthday party with my family! Even in my previous life, I never had one. Well, I didn't have a family to begin with. Friends? Yes, of course, but it's not the same… I think.
Well, see you next time…
Thereupon, I get out of my bed. I'm a bit rusty from getting up so suddenly, but it doesn't last.
My eyes had already adapted to the ambient darkness. I go to the window and open the heavy curtains that block the sunlight while I sleep.
Then, I open the window and take a deep breath in the cold breeze of the night, basking in the moon light.
Aaah, so refreshing!
Well, I let the window open, and I get out of my room.
The castle is awfully silent.
Since it's a small castle, you can normally always hear noises from the maids doing their work or okā-san ( that's how you say mum in this language!) walking in the corridors, doing whatever she wants to do.
Well, she has lots of hobbies, but the main ones are painting and knitting. And once every week she would do some research in her office in the basement. I'm very curious about those researches, but I was strictly forbidden to enter her study. I'll just have to wait until she allows me to enter then!
Well, now I'm just in front of the dinning room. I open the door to go have breakfast, but then…
““Happy Birthday, Abigaelle!””(Parents)
“““Happy Birthday, Abigaelle-sama!”””(Maids)
Oh! I was honestly surprised! Even though I knew they were up to something, I didn't think they would do it so soon in the night!
Well, I'm still very happy!
I quickly go and hug my parents. I must say, they nearly look happier than I am. Well, nearly.
“Aaaah, it's only been one year, and yet you grew up so quickly! Already walking and talking, we are so happy!”(Mum)
“Eeeeh? Really, okā-san?”(Abigaelle)
Yay! Praise me more!
“Well, even if you say that, Abigaelle, it's only the truth. To have you walking and talking in only five month! Truly exceptional!”(Dad)
More praise! Thank you otō-san (the word for dad), I'm so happy!
“But don't burden yourself with it, okay? We will love you even if you don't do anything amazing, sweetheart.”(Mum)
Ooooh, they were worried about me working so hard? How nice.
“It's okay, okā-chan, I'm only working hard because I love to!”(Abigaelle)
“If you say so, then we have nothing else to say”(Dad)
Ah. It's still quite hard to say "san"... I always blunder and say "chan" in the end.
But they find it cute, so...
I quit the embrace of my parents and turn to look at the three maids standing close to each other.
They were about to say something when...
*Boing*
*Clung*
I magnificently jumped toward them and clung to them, hugging the three at the same time without letting them enough time to say anything.
“Aaaah, Abigaelle-sama, what are you...”(Julie)
“Ye-yeah, clinging to us like that so suddenly”(Catherine)
“You shouldn't do that, Abigaelle-sama! Hugging us like that is inappropriate!”(Sylvia)
"What?! Why? Why can't I hug my one-san?”(Abigaelle)
“O-one-saaaan?”(Catherine)
“She-she called me one-san! She-she finally did…”(Julie)
“A-are you sure? Hugging is a bit...”(Sylvia)
Oooh? What is it Julie? Did you secretly wanted me to call you onee-san (big-sis, if you prefer)?

You should have asked me, you know?
I would have done it if it's for you!
“Yeah! I can't see you as anything except my three onee-san!”(Abigaelle)
[…]
Once the three maids had calmed down a bit, I let go of their neck, and thus the party began.
I didn't notice earlier, but the room was brightly lit with numerous candles. It looks like we're in the middle of the day.
Aaaah, I miss the sun so much!
Back to the topic, a real feast was displayed on the table. It seems Catherine-san made it for the party.
I was going to start eating, when I noticed that the maids where still standing behind us.
Hun? They aren't planning to not eat with us, are they?
Oh, right, we're somewhere in the Middle-Age right now. Maids don't eat with their employer...
I silently look at my parents to ask for their permission, and once they gave me their approval, I asked the three maids to take a seat.
They started to complain, but I insisted, saying that I would only eat with every one.
Ufufufu, they can't resist me! Cuteness is the ultimate weapon!
Cuteness is Justice!
Well, the party was very fun! I kept teasing Julie-san by calling her onee-san, and she seemed very happy. I interog…hum, I asked her why, and it seems that she always dreamed to have a little sister, but all she ever had were 3 big brothers and Catherine, but no little sister.
Well now that she says that, I realise that I do want a little sister too. A cute little sister that I would spoil to death!
No, let's refrain a bit, she would end up with an awful character if I were to...
Well, once we finished eating, they brought me the gifts they had prepared.
Otō-san(Dad) gave me two books. It seems the first one is a history book, and he told me that Julie was going to teach me how to read and write with it.
The second one is blank and is mine to fill as it fits me.
Well, once I'll have learn how to write, that is.
“That's perfect, otō-san! Than you very much”(Abigaelle)
Well, it truly was. I mean, I can't possibly learn how to read on my own! And at the same time, I'll learn exactly when and where I am. I mean, as a one year old child, I can't just go and ask things like that.
Well, truth is, I had forgotten to ask.
But I won't now! Not any more!
And with the blank one, I'll be able to start researching stuff to bring from the 21st century. And I exactly know what I'll work on first!
Ufufu, shiver, Sun, for the great I will devise a Shield that will render your dangerous rays powerless!
Mouahahahaha
Well, digression, aside, ōka-san gave me a room in the basement. She said that this way I could study comfortably.
Apparently, she had put a desk and a bookshelf in it for me too. Well, since she gave me a room, I asked her if I could have some tools too. Aaah, the face she pulled!
She was so surprised! Well, I guess she was, I mean, gender aside, little children don't tend to ask for hammers, saws and nails for their birthday.
Wait, was that really okay? I mean, I don't really know how fast a child is supposed to grow up, but asking for tools already?
Aren't I too fast?
Well, I think she wanted to refuse, but seeing how serious I was about it, she agreed, with conditions regarding my safety.
A young child cuteness really is a fearful weapon!
And thank you okā-san! Thanks to you, I will be able to retrieve one of my old hobbies: crafting!
And the moment I would be walking under the Sun again keeps getting closer!
Even the maids had something for me!
I told them that they shouldn't have spent money for me, but Julie retorted with a wink that it was normal between sisters. Aaaah, she got me!
Well, I decided to accept, then. But they won't be able to refuse me when I will be the one giving gifts!
Ufufu!
So, they gave me three present. The first was a huuuuge bag filled with what looked like french-style fudges: some caramel beurre salé.
Of course, Sylvia made them. She's the only one who knew they were my favorite!
You're the best, Sylvia-san!
The second gift was a little bracelet they made with their hair. It was very good-looking, and it seems the size was adjustable, so I'll be able to keep it even after growing up a lot.
They said it was a magic talisman supposed to help me find my way back home if I was ever to get lost.
Well, thank you, I really love it, but I don't believe in magic since I was five.
But I can't tell them that though.
I mean, I'm not even five yet...
And the last one is a beautiful hairpin made out of amber. Its head was beautifully carved in a rose-pattern. I tell them how pretty it is, and I learn that Julie is the one who carved this!
I can't wait to try this on, but sadly we don't have mirrors. Well they should be extremely expensive I think, looking at the actual technology level.
Thus the party ended. The maids went to clean up the table, and otō-san(Dad) went with me in my new room in the basement.
That it was really cosy is the least I could say. There was a desk in the top right corner, made of a sturdy dark-brown wood and had beautiful carving on the sides. I could see a matching chair next to it, with red cushions.
Louis Treize style! That's so classy!
In the opposite side of the room, I could see the bookshelf she talked about. For the moment, it was empty, but I do plan on filling it up with interesting books in the future.
There was a sofa next to it, and it looked like I would sink in if I were to sit on it.
Well, I'll do just that then!
The corner next to the door stood empty.
For now.
I think it will be my crafting space in the future!
I spent the next hours with otō-san, swallowed up in the softness of the sofa, learning about this language alphabet and the pronunciation of the letters. It was quite different from what I knew: the letters seems different from the classic alphabet and the ones I recognised didn't sound how they should have.
Well, it's a different language, and I should feel lucky that it isn't based on ideograms like hieroglyphs and kanji.
Julie walked into the room two hours before sunrise and took me back to my bedroom. She already had closed my window and the curtains, but the room was still fresh from the nigh air.
I jumped into my bed and went under the blanket.
I was waiting for Julie to start her traditional fairy-tales bedtime stories.
But she seemed to have something else on her mind tonight.
As I was thinking that…
“Abigaelle-sama?”(Julie)
“Yes, one-san?”(Abigaelle)
“W... Would you like me to show you some magic?(Julie)
