Maris’s P.O.V
I yawned and stretched as I rose up from my warm bed, looking at the clock on my HUD 5:00am.
…………*SIGH*
Why did I have to wake up now, why could I not have just stayed asleep until seven…or even six thirty…I lifted my legs out of bed and placed them on the floor flinching at how cold it was.
“OH Geez! That’s cold!” I slowly put my bare feet on the ground again, groaning at the coldness of the floor. I steeled my nerves and moved towards the wardrobe when I reached it I realised I could have changed from my Inventory screen.
I face palmed and hit the auto equip favourite outfit, which was my basic gear. I sighed warmed by my shoes, one bonus of being a cleric; you get some really fluffy boots,
‘sooooooo comfy!’
I began to head down onto the ground floor, seeing that the place was already filled with people enjoying breakfast, I took a step forward when a smell filled my nose. I knew this smell! It was a heavenly scent given unto mortals from the gods…Coffee!
(PR.N- AUTHOR_SEMPAIIIIII!!!!! I WANT SOME COFFEE TOOOOOO!!!)
I quickly charged towards a table and a waiter was quick to my table.
“What will it be then ma’am?”
“COFFEE….!!!!” I unwittingly shouted. I placed my hand over my mouth...how embarrassing. “I-I mean one coffee please.”
“How do you have it?”
“Fullcreamwhitethreesugars!” I blurted out the words in an incomprehensible word vomit, though the waiter seemed to understand. He walked off and then came back with a mug filled with the heavenly liquid.
I took a single sip ‘Oh is this heaven?’
“You seem to be enjoying that.” I flinched and almost spilt my coffee, as Thomas approached.
“O-Oh Thomas….don’t sneak up on me like that!” I almost screamed at him as he chuckled.
“Sorry my dear, you seemed to be enjoying yourself so I didn’t want to disturb….but the chance was too good!” he took a seat and ordered a plate of eggs and bacon.
“So…How are things going with your stall?” Thomas perked up at the prospect of talking business.
“Oh quite well, as a matter of fact after breakfast I was gonna go and start selling, care to join me?” I paused for a second, if I accepted I’d waste time I could use looking for my friends, but….as the pop up stated:
Quest: Business as usual
Required: Assist the Merchant: Thomas Mitchel. With his stall
Optional: Make a total of 10,000 gold: 0/10,000
Rewards: Title: Merchant, Gold: 150-450, EXP: 750, Relation improve: Thomas Mitchel
I Sighed, well it looked like I’d become a merchant today.
Meanwhile: Calder’s P.O.V
I stabbed the bottom of my pike into the ground and knelt beside it, my breath was heavy.
“H-Hey Elias….h-*Pant* *Pant* ….How long have we been at this?” Elias had his hand resting against a nearby tree.
“C-C-couple of….H-Ho *Pant* *Pant* Hours I think?” I ran my forearm over my forehead, wiping away the sweat gathering there, we had managed to find a Ratman encampment…but the number of Ratmen here was….insane, I brought up the quest to see how much more we had to do.
Quest: Ratmen Hunting
Required: Slay 20 Ratmen: 20/20: Complete
Optional: Discover a Ratman encampment: Complete
Optional: Eliminate the Ratman encampment: In progress.
Required: Find and kill the Ratman Leader: In progress.
I sighed again, we still had a long way to go, I took out several health potions and tossed two to Elias, we downed them as quickly as they’d been summoned.
“S…so how long do you think it will take us to find the leader?” Elias queried as he caught his breath, I let out one more sigh before standing up again.
“Can’t be long now, I’m sure we’ll find it!” There was a loud *Ping* as it seemed as if I’d gained a new title.
Title gained: Optimistic
Description: You always try and see the bright side of things, and believe that things will get better even in the worst of times.
Effects: Bonus to HP
Ability gain: Not yet!
Ability: Not yet!:
Makes the caster temporary invulnerable.
Slightly increases HP regen during the time it’s active.
I smirked again; ‘Thanks for that system; that might actually come in handy’ Elias noticed the new title above my head.
“Huh…get anything good from that?” I nodded.
“More HP and a new ability” Elias also nodded.
“Nice…well let’s see about finding this quest boss”
“Un” We both began moving again, rushing into the clearing ahead, it had several tents including a large one in the centre, if there was going to be a place a boss was hiding it would have been there!
(PR.N- THIS IS CONFUSING! This Fic combines Japanese, Norse, Korean and Lovecraftian lore, words and items *SOBS* “AUTHOR-SEMPAI WHYYYY?!?!”. BTW “Un” is a Korean slang which pretty much means sure or yes.)
(A.N- EVERYTHING will be pulled into this, nothing will be spared....KAHAHAH)
We quickly broke into the clearing at first it was quiet and there was only the sounds of the forest, but soon after there was a chittering sound.
Swarms of Ratmen burst forth from the nearby tents I readied my pike. Elias dropped into a lower stance as he prepared for the fight.
“Well….this will be fun” He joked, as he raised his rapier and activated his ability. “Blade dance”
Blade dance:
Increases speed and crit chance as well as base damage.
I sighed and smiled, seems like we were in for one hell of a fight. I activated Lighting Fang and charged into the fray.
Maris’s P.O.V
I smiled and waved as the customer I was helping walked off with something he liked after paying for it.
Thomas had a lot of stuff the stall took up a lot of space, it was more like a tent then a stall. I let out a sigh a breath of relief as the customer walked out. I quickly opened the quest tab and examined the requirements.
Quest: Business as usual!
Required: Assist the merchant: Thomas Mitchel
Optional: Make a total of 10,000
Gold: 545/10,000
I sighed I guessed that I wouldn’t be able to get the optional done…oh well.
“Welcome!” Thomas called out as he was arranging a display; I turned my attention to the entrance to see several, of what I think are adventurers, walk in.
Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author's consent. Report any sightings.
From the titles I gathered they were an adventurer’s party but there was also something else.
Galahad Kenstien: Human Male
LVL 10: Knight
[Chivalrous][Kind][Warm][Compassionate][Sworn Sword of House Ironwood][???]
Theodora Listain: Human Female
LVL 10: Scout
[Cautious][Cold][Analytical][Rude][Sworn Sword of House Ironwood][???]
Kristen Ironwood: Human, Female
LVL 5: Swordsman
[Naïve][Kind][Uncertain][Member of the Ironwood House][Noble][???]
I was kind of surprised to have a noble walk into the, the other two must have been her guards, although the question mark titles they have was a little unnerving.
They both went off and looked at certain items, although they didn’t stray too far from Kristen, she approached me.
“Hello there” I bowed my head slightly.
“Greetings, Lady Ironwood!” She flinched and the two guards sprung on me weapons drawn, my heart skipped a beat as the Knights blade rested on my neck…I took small short breaths as I put my hands up showing surrender.
The scout spoke, a bow fully drawn back pointed at me. “How did you know she was a member of Clan Ironwood?” I swallowed hard.
“I….I…um….I mean, how could….I not?”
“It’s okay you two, lower your weapons” They both looked at her.
“M-Milady?” she told them to calm down and turned to me.
“This was not unexpected, I was sure we’d run into someone who knew about my linage,” She smiled towards me. “Although I thought I’d disguised myself better” I flinched.
“Ah…No, it’s just I have a thing with faces, once I’ve seen one it is kind hard to forget.” I lied, I was terrible with names, the system was a god send for a forgetful person such as myself, I’d forget my own name if it wasn't at the top of my HUD.
“Oh…you've seen my face before?” she asked quizzically.
“Y-yes, I saw a painting of you once….uncanny resemblance actually.” she smiled.
“Ah that’d have been the commission father did, I always liked that painter.” there was an awkward silence as we all sort of blankly stared at one another, however Thomas hadn’t noticed the fact that two people had drawn their weapons in his tent he seemed to be lost in his own world of display sorting, Kirsten broke the silence.
“Well, now that, that’s all done, we came in here to buy something, so…” she examined the displays around her, before gripping a rather fancy looking sword. “Ohh this looks nice!”
She gripped it and swung a few times, she looked at me and handed me the sword. “Tell me, what, do you think about it” I grab the sword and saw the description pop-up.
Vindicator Broadsword
Base ATK: 85-105
ATK type: Slash, Thrust, Chop
Bonus Effects: Bleed, Stun, Burn
Description: A Vindicator Broadsword, a very powerful and highly coveted sword once used by the powerful Imperial Inquisitors to enforce the law of the empire, it is now just a relic of the ruined empire but it still retains some of its devastating power although just a fraction of what it once was capable of.
‘Holy hell how did such a powerful weapon fall into the hands of Thomas, I wonder’
“Well?” Kirsten asked me expectant eyes, I swear they were sparkling; I struggled to find the right words.
“Well…this weapon is…good…” I wasn’t able to finish before she spoke up.
“Then that’s all I need to know!” She clicked her fingers and the knight Galahad seemed to pull a small chest out of nowhere. “Will this amount be sufficient?” I put my hand on the small chest and a description appeared.
Personal storage chest
Content: 50,000 gold
Description: A mystical storage device plucked from the….screw it, it’s a damn cheat chest from the cheat dimension.
(PR.N- SEEEEE!!!! EVEN SYSTEM-SAN AGREES! Uggh my head I am just going to give up trying to think.)
(A.N- Then I have done my job :P)
My eye’s widened, as I saw the amount. ‘hey, hey just how rich are the nobles in this world….if they’re willing to pay this much for a sword they don’t even know about, I think there’s a serious inflation issue around here’ I went to speak again but she beat me to it once.
“I’ll take that as a yes, thank you for the sword!” she turned and left, I wanted to speak, but nothing came out.
Even as she held open the tent flap for her two followers I couldn't even fathom words.
“Thank you for your patronage!” Thomas called out as he saw them leave, he then walked over to me, upon seeing the chest his eye’s widened.
“Wow, how much did you sell!” he opened it and began counting.
“I….I….one item….” His eyes widened even further making it look as if they were going to fall out of his head.
“What did you sell?”
“Um….the Vindicator broadsword….why was I not supposed to?”
“No it’s fine, but…how much is in this thing” he shook the chest a little.
“Fifty thousand…” his face twitched and a grin began to grow. He began to laugh.
“Normally a sword like that goes for about ten thousand….and you got, oooooh it’s our lucky day!” There was a loud *Ping* sound as it seemed I’d gotten a new title
Title Gained: Swindler
Description: You seem to have a way with people when selling things to them, no matter how hard they haggle; you always seem to walk away with the better deal
Effects: Bonus to selling items, Haggle skill less effective against you, Bonus to Charisma
I sighed, ‘Ugh why’d I have to get something like this, it wasn’t intentional you know system….well I suppose it can’t be helped, guess I’ll just look like some money grubbing scumbag…’
I blinked what the hell was I thinking, that’s no way for me to think and besides the only people who’d be able to see her titles would be the Players.
‘*SIGH* I wonder what horrible people would get titles like swindler’
Meanwhile: Calder’s P.O.V
“AH….AH…..AH…..*ACHOOO*
“Are you alright Calder?”
“Yeah it was just a sneeze.”
Maris’s P.O.V
“Welcome!” Thomas called out as someone walked into the bar. I looked over his shoulder and the figure was familiar to me, there was no way I could mistake that small curly afro, or that lumberjack beard.
“Cecil!”
(PR.N- Was asked to define this. Hairstyle is a cross between this and this and beard like this. Note only the hairstyle and beard apply to this char not face, hair colour etc.)
