Isekai Strategy Game Volume 2 [https://i.ibb.co/NCfjx5p/1-bookcovertry-correctsize.png]
Dear readers,
Thank you for reading the second volume of Isekai Strategy Game! ☆*:.。.ヽ( ^ ▽ ^ )ノ.。.:*☆
It's almost the end of the year! That means I've been writing this story for nearly a year now... (・・)ゞ
It was quite the journey getting here, both for the characters and for me! I try to improve my writing as I go, and I hope I've gotten better at the craft that when I first released this story to the public.
I want to take this opportunity to thank, first, you, the readers, for the feedback you've given me through comments and ratings. For instance, in accord with one comment, I've been cutting out a lot of character actions between dialogue during editing. Hopefully, the changes are coming across as improvements! And finally, I wish to thank kind people of the WriTE discord for the excellent advice they've given me during my writing! To amateurs and beginners like myself, the experience-based knowledge they impart is invaluable, as it's something that can't just be searched on google.
Now, the idea of adventuring as an occupation fascinated me. It's something unique to the Fantasy genre that I'd just taken for granted because of how prevalent it was in games. But when I examined it up-close, I came to the conclusion that it wasn't really viable as a 'job' outside of a fictional setting.
So I decided it as a running theme for the arc and explored the different possibilities it offered.
Ruth and Ceressa, represented the classic mold of adventurers. Tough and held together by the bond of, uh... 'friendship', they sought out dungeons, treasure and fun adventures, plus the risks associated with them. Sometimes it didn't turn out as well as they had hoped, but they're still up and about as successful career adventurers.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Next was Letty, a tired, washed out ex-adventurer who had retired into a desk job. Getting more than her mouthful of the bitter side of her chosen career, she retreated into a corner, and it took the hounding of her best friend, plus the scheme of a certain little girl, to get her back on her feet.
Then there was Martin and Jeanne. At face value, they were made of the same mold as Ruth and Ceressa, but they found themselves in completely different circumstances. Out of decent jobs, these innocent souls walked into tragedy as they entered, unwittingly, a rather murky affair, involving some pretty ruthless people.
I also added hints, here and there, of established characters' history with adventuring, and we'll know more about them in due time!
But what I was really excited about was the Mythril Cave. The first time I imagined it, I scrambled, literally panicked, just to write it down.
At first, I only wanted Sylphie and the gang to go on a simple dungeon expedition, but I found it difficult to put 'strategy game' elements in your classic dungeon dive. So when I got this idea of a huge, alien world deep underground, I knew I'd made 1 + 1.
Well, one thing led to another, and the next thing I knew, Sylphie was playing Mount and Blade: Dogband. Finally, a large-scale battle with the training wheels off! That was a load of fun to write, and hopefully, to read!
She also got a considerable powerup this time around, so she isn't quite so helpless anymore! Though her dream of being OP is still far out of reach.
Do your best, Sylphie! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
Well, that's all I wanted to share for this volume. Again, thank you, dear readers, for your support! Please look forward to the next volume as well, where we're shifting to yet another aspect of 'strategy games'! Sylphie is now a feudal lord! The nobility enters the stage! I wonder what will happen!?
Well, we'll find out soon enough. Until then, see you again! ヾ(^▽^)ノ゙
