Chapter 3: Alliance.

Chapter 3: Alliance.

With Hideyoshi out cold, barely alive from the wound he suffered and I also barely had any bullets left. Upon my last mag, I yelled at the top of my lungs.

“For fuck’s sake! Can someone help us? You worthless pieces of shits. You're gonna leave your friend to die like this? You're gonna Hideyoshi to die like this?! Fuck you! I’m gonna kill all of you when I come back!” (Rynosuke)

I continued with the suppressive fire till suddenly, the gun went click!

Out of ammo… and the brigands were starting to pour through the safety line I had marked. This was quite a predicament, as even though I had strength, speed and such, it would work way better in a stealth scenario. As I was working on a plan to not die and live like a monstrous ghoul again, a brigand suddenly jumped atop of me and pinned me down by the neck while others surrounded us.

“Ohh…I thought we were fighting some tough and powerful knights. But I didn’t think that we would be fighting two little girls. Hahaha.”

He continued, breaking open my collar buttons.

“Oh, you are those aristocratic adventurers eh?”

He then moved his hand down to my chest. I tried to break free and resist his advances.

“Hey hey…hold still!”

He tried to hold me down, tightening his grip on my neck and using his second hand to reinforce his grip. Thanks to that I managed to grab my knife and jabbed it in his face.

“I’m a fucking boy are you serious?!” (Rynosuke)

I yelled at the screaming bastard that dared to touch me as now squirming in a pool of his own blood.

Seeing that I had fought off one of their own, they began to shift their attention from my incapacitated friend and turned to my side. With their sword drawn, they started to come at me. And one by one I struck them down with my blade.

“Come at me! Come get a piece! Come get a piece of the Psycho!” (Rynosuke)

I yelled as I raised my weapon to them. I had fought with father using Bokkens and batons when I was a kid. This was the reason why I was called the Psycho, I had always insanely good with blades and blunts especially in the department of brutalizing scum of the earth insurgents.

I took the baton from Hideyoshi’s belt and use it along with the knife to deter the enemies away. Jumping here and there, dodging slashes after slashes and using my all to fight them off. Even using my teeth to bite the wrist of one of the brigands who charged at me with his sword drawn high.

However, I was still overwhelmed, five of the spearmen rushing behind their dead comrades rushed at me and impaled me through the bodies of the fallen.

“Nice trick…assholes...but I’m far from done here.” (rynosuke)

I pushed my torso up over, tearing away the lower part with the strength of my limbs, I then lunged at one of the bastards that had skewered me earlier.

“You! Succumb to my will! Pay for your sins! Rot!” (Rynosuke)

I remembered saying this, a chant, a prayer, an accusation. After this chant, instinctively, I bit off his face and with my mouth elongated, I swallowed the piece of skin whole. It still makes my skin crawl remembering that day. The day when I massacred thousands of men with ghouls of hate and anger.

I fainted shortly after the fight and later when I woke up, I was in the library with medical equipment strapped on to me and tended by the medic Rina from earlier.

“Rina-san right?” (Rynosuke)

“Eh! You’re awake?” (Rina)

No matter what happened, I couldn’t forget that piercing scream and that death stroke face when three m16 rounds shot through my skull.

“I’m sorry for making you watch such an insightful sight earlier.” (Rynosuke)

I sat up, stretching the wires and tubes that had been jabbed inside me.

“Oh, wait…where is Hideyoshi?”(Rynosuke)

“Hide-yoshi?” (Rina)

“The SAT boy I had with me.” (rynosuke)

“Oh…he’s resting, he lost quite a lot of blood you know? But why were you the only one who was cut up?” (Rina)

“It’s a long story.” (Rynosuke)

...

After waking up to Rina, she explained to me why I was back in the library. After I left, two groups were formed with Nam Seung and mostly the Korean army cadets voting to leave while the JSDF and a few of the International cadets voting to stay and wait for me.

“Thank you for not leaving us. It’s not that I needed help, but I did screw up and made Hideyoshi bleed half to death.” (Rynosuke)

“Hmm? He was fine. He didn’t bleed that much. He fainted from stress.” (Rina)

“Really?” (Rynosuke) I asked her, raising high an eyebrow.

“Now for your condition…What are you?” (Rina)

She says, pointing at the cut between the upper and lower torso of my body. I remembered it to be quite a painful experience.

“It’s just an old scar from my first assignment…If it’s not such an inconvenience, I wouldn’t ask you not to pry much into it…” (Rynosuke)

“It’s just that when we found you, your body was in two parts, but both were still as functional as they could.” (rynosuke)

“What do you mean?” (Rynosuke)

“Your body…it was still functional, vitals were fine, and blood pressure was still alright too. That wasn’t even the strangest thing, your body suddenly healed miraculously when we put it together without stitches or anything.” (Rina)

Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.

“Then what’s all these IVs, plasma and even this heartbeat monitor?” (Rynosuke)

“You know what these are?” (Rina)

“Yeah, I read a lot of first aid books during my time in training.” (Rynosuke)

“But how?” (Rina)

“Plasma is usually used to stabilize patients who lost a lot of blood, albeit me. When you found me, I was cut in half and so even though my blood pressure was normal and my body was still vitalized, right?” (Rynosuke)

“Yeah…but?”(Rina)

“Plasma is usually used to help blood cells circulate easier. As a precaution, because you had assumed that I lost quite a lot of blood, I figured that after I healed up, you poked that needle into my veins as a precaution in a case of a possible cardiac arrest, because…” (Rynosuke)

“I don’t trust medical equipment.” (Rina)

“True, you’re still a cadet and these equipment seems to be of the last decade or so, thus their results can be deceiving at times.” (Rynosuke)

“You…you’re not a normal JSDF grunt aren’t you?” (Rina) she asked while glaring at me.

“What if I said I wasn’t?” (Rynosuke)I smugly come right back at her and would have extended our “staring contest” for more than a dozen second, but an unexpected guest interrupted us.

“Nii-san!” (Hideyoshi) He yelled, running towards me in a tearful manner…and accidentally head-butt my lower abdomen too.

“Nice…to see you too…” (Rynosuke) I rub his hair while trying to not yell in pain as it hurts getting head-butted like that.

“I’m sorry Nii-san…*sniff*…I’m sorry for almost getting you killed.”(Hideyoshi) With sparkling tearful puppy eyes, he looked up and apologized.

“It’s alright…but! Don’t you dare, and I mean it, go on a mission when you’re injured.” I said, pinching the two cheeks of this puppy and stretching it.

“Ow ow ow ow…tdhat hurrrlts Nii-shan stahp!” (Rynosuke)

“You learned your lesson yet?” (Rynosuke) I released the two swollen cheeks and said.

“Ahm sowwy Nii-san! Ahm sowwy!” (Hideyoshi)

This was one of the many hilarious experiences that I had during the first few months with these guys. Nevertheless, I let go of his cheeks.

“You’re so mean Nii-san…owwww… ” (Hideyoshi) He said as he gently rubbed them.

“It’s an extreme pain in the ass to carry an incapacitated teammate, you know?” (Rynosuke) I said, kneeling down to Hideyoshi’s side.

“I’m glad you’re safe…” (Rynosuke) I continued, hugging him tightly and patting him on the back.

I then sent Hideyoshi away to gather some gears and weapons while I had a short conversation with Rina, I had wished to thank her for staying behind for me and Hideyoshi. Even though our wounds weren’t life-threatening, it was still better to have a medic patching up than to die.

“Hey Rina-san, thanks for vouching for us…and staying behind for us as well.” (Rynosuke) I said buttoning my shirt and buckling up my pistol belt.

“Ah no no no. I just only patched up your wounds, Captain Junior is the one that gave out the orders.” (Rina)

“The middle-aged woman I had helped before?”(Rynosuke)

“Shsh! Don’t…” (Rina)

“Eh? Why?” (Rynosuke)

I raised an eyebrow and within less than a second of my question, I was assaulted, no I mean pounced on. Assaulted seemed to be too much of a word to describe her action upon me. The proper word would be “lovingly squeezing me half to death”.

“hggh! Rina! What’s wrong with this woman?!” (Rynosuke)

“Arara…You can’t call me middle-aged you know…” (Julia) She said as she started to choke me with her overly large bear hug, suffocating me with her large pair of breasts.

“I’m just only 22…you know…” (Julia)

“Julia-san…don’t, he just wakes up you know?” (Rynosuke)

“He just woke up so what? Relax. I’m just testing him...” (Julia) She then pushed me in deeper as she finished that statement.

“Check mate!” (Rynosuke)

“Huh?!”

I mumbled, moving my hands down to her hips, sitting on my toes and moving myself to position, I then managed to get on top of her and pinned her down.

However, because I was using too much of my strength I managed to rip out one three of the buttons locking up her shirt, exposing her breasts and underwear. Rina though was energetic, she was now glaring at me with murderous intents.

“Wait!” (Rynosuke) As I was trying to explain my actions to Rina, Hideyoshi suddenly came in.

“Nii-san! I made you some food! Wha…wha…what are you doing Nii-san?!” (Hideyoshi)

“Wait! It’s not what it looks like! You've seen it right? Rina?” (Rynosuke)

“ I saw nothing…” (Rina) She looked away in disgust.

“Nii-san how could you?!” (Hideyoshi) And so things end in a really awkward note.

….

After explaining and prostrating myself to three of my friends as an apology. The girl name was Julia Bron Junior, born in Japan and was a student of the JSDF cadet academy before being invited to Russia to take part in the Spetsnaz Special Forces training program. After 2 tours in Ukraine, Julia finally came back to Japan to teach the joint class of JSDF and ROK’s army.

She explained why Nam Seung was let to do what he, please. The ROK class representative had been opposing her methods for a long time and have been telling his classmates and comrades to be opposed to her teachings. This prompted his uprising and taking half of the company to himself.

What came next was the interrogation of one of the lieutenants that they managed to capture as the enemy forces withdrew. I was there as an interpreter as Julia-san and none of the guys in my squad could understand that captive.

We suspected that we weren’t the only cadets got taken by their kingdom alone, thus leading up to the slave uprising against the Rile kingdom.

I was later invited to be an interpreter for Julia-san's interrogation. The man was holding back pretty well against Julia-san's brutality and Rina-san's operations on his body. In the end, we managed to get him to talk. The man was then let go.

Basically, children had always been a valuable resource in the Rile kingdom. These men had been ordered out by the kings to capture children of nomads and merchants as they cross these land to fulfil the demands.

Note: This was prior to to the Rile Kingdom uprising, thus no immensely immoral actions were to be carried out at this point.

“Hey Julia-san, Is it fine to let that man go? I thought Russian Spetsnaz were notorious for killing prisoners to not leak information.” (Rynosuke)

“I’m not like those in the Spetsnaz, I was born here. My mother was American and my father was Japanese, though I was taught to kill, I still follow my mother’s teachings.” (Julia)

“And those are?” (Rynosuke)

“Fight when you need to, but remember that your enemy also has a family to come back to.” (Julia)

She said, wiping the sunglasses that she had on hand.

“I do not kill out of spite nor for pleasure. I choose who and what to kill, not following orders nor hunches. Now suit up and prepare to move out!” (Julia) She continued, gazing at the medics and cadets preparing themselves to move out with the remaining gears and weapons.

I suddenly had a hint from Kuucifer as well. Down in the basement storage of the library, there were a far better cache of vehicles and weapons untouched and undusted by the times.

“How did you know about this place?” (Rina)

“I don’t, just a hunch. Now grab whatever you need and let’s roll.” (Rynosuke)

We took the weapons and gears, though the company Julia now led were only medics and logistics cadets, several of them were experienced enough to consider combatants.

We took everything and got outside of the Library, where Julia then suggested a plan of action for us to follow through.

My objective at the beginning was to build a strong enough army. Though Kuucifer didn’t give any further information, I had considered for us to be fighting a large amount of opposition soon. The plan was to ask these kids to join me, but with this number would do shit against the enemy that the number that I had hypothesized. The plan now called for Nam Seung and his merry band of brothers. Though Nam Seung was greatly opposing us and more specifically me, Julia suggested that we should try to make up and that we would be safer in numbers. In which I agreed.

“Oi dorogoy, give me the SVD.” (Julia) Julia asked me, pointing to the Dragunov sniper rifle next to the assault rifle rack, of which I complied.

“That thing’s vintage. I thought Spetsnaz now prefer the Vintorez special sniper rifle.” (Rynosuke)

“You know why my students call me Balalaika?” (Rynosuke)

“No. You’re very good with the Balalaika musical instrument?” (Rynosuke) I responded sarcastically.

“Yeah, and this is my instrument.” (Julia) she pointed to the SVD rifle.

Later I understood what she meant as in a shooting exercise with Hideyoshi, she fired the rifle with extreme precision that it broke a tape-marked piece of twig off the tree branch. Though I had worked as a spotter on various ops and assignments, none of my partners had ever shown this level of skill. Such precision, such grace and such focus.

Anyhow, we loaded up everything and followed the tracks that Nam Seung’s company had created when they left, hopefully, to make up and join forces for a better chance of survival.
