End of the Road

Leo was nearing the closed gate by the time he heard Silas’s love call. The sports auditorium wasn’t far from the gate, and he didn’t want to corner himself in a building leaving a blood trail to where he was hiding, so onto the streets it was. The only problem?

The gate was padlocked shut, while only having a spikey triangular shape at the top of it as well as being curved in structure. What’s worse was that he could only climb it with one hand, as the other just kind of flopped there, currently being held by his good one attempting to mitigate the blood from gushing out. He could feel the strength draining from his body. That was actually 3 problems, but Leo wasn’t counting.

The walls along the campus were tall and unclimbable, some trees may have let him out but they were too far away to get to, not to mention it being hard to hug it up with one arm. But there were bars on the fence that he could lift himself from.

Leo was quite chiseled, his muscles well defined. He had a private gym at home that he hit every day with Dillan occasionally in attendance.

‘Now isn’t the time to think about that muscle head’, he thought to himself, clenching his teeth from the pain.

He had decided, though there weren’t many options to decide from. As such he made it to the gate, his good arm reaching out.

“There you are”, Silas called out.

Leo ignored him, clenching his teeth and making his ascension up the 5 meter fence. As he pulled himself up with his good arm, he had stabilized his position with the other arm by resting it through the fence. Slowly he made his way up, but by the time he made it to the top Silas had neared the gate.

Leo felt pressured to hoist himself over quickly, knowing that a healthy Silas would make his way over twice as fast as himself. He clutched onto the spiky top with his good hand, digging into it as he leapt over, forming a small hole in it as he screamed again, yet maintaining enough rationality to land on his hands and feet, and start his sprint down the street.

“YAGGGGGGGHHHHHRRRRRRR”, he continued to scream at the top of his lungs.

All the pent up emotions were unleashed as he screamed his way to freedom, hoping to attract the attention of bystanders. But as he ran, he noticed how dead the streets were. It was late at night, with no one around.

Silas on the other hand had thrown his knife over, and already made it to the top of the fence, clutching the sides of two spikey tops, and leaping over with the combined effort of both arms, merely grazing the flesh of them. In one swift motion upon landing, he picked up the knife and sprinted after Leo, maintaining his silence, in contrast to the noise of his prey.

As he followed along, he noticed he was slowly catching up. He hadn’t been exercising his cardio much to this day due to living conditions and problems surrounding him. Even so, as he looked at the occasional blood splatters on the ground, clearly visible by the combined efforts of the moonlight and light posts, he could tell Leo’s strength was draining, and was getting slower as a result.

Leo on the other hand, had made it to the end of the street without a single person in sight. But he remembered the location of a club he would frequent with the boys, during the late hours after school.

He ran past a vacant intersection, down the road a bit and through an alleyway, crashing and throwing a bin behind him, as he ran onto another street. This one had many shops with no lights on, doors and windows barred, signaling they were all closed. The adrenaline kept him going as he heard the footsteps behind him getting closer. Until suddenly, from a shop door a man came out, holding a cigarette and lighting it up.

“Heyyyyyy”, Leo shouted out, panicked and excited that finally this dreadful night could come to a close.

“Heyyyy over here, help me!”

This got the middle aged man's attention, as he looked over to see a tall kid stumbling over in his direction, one hand clutching his stomach, and the other the wrist of that arm. The man squinted his eyes, trying to make sense of the situation. Casually, he took another hit of his cigarette, and flicked it away, stepping forward in Leo's direction.

“H-He’s trying to kill me!”, he pointed behind him, his finger unfocused on the target.

The man squinted in the general direction of the finger. There was indeed a person behind him, running at full sprint towards them. Or more specifically towards Leo. The person in question however, held his knife behind him, but the blood on his school shirt could not be hidden, and the man deemed him dangerous.

Leo leapt onto the man, the blood from his wounds covering him.

“Help me, fuck him up. He’s…”

Before he could finish his sentence, the man promptly measured up the kid who was taller than himself, and pushed Leo away.

“Yer get off me”, he spat in a gruff voice, “bring yer problems elsewhere”.

“I can pay you!”, Leo Immediately retorted, panicking, as he heard the footsteps of the boy nearing him.

“Eh? How much, hey!”, he exclaimed as Leo dodged under his arm, hiding behind him.

The man sighed, and spoke unnerved as the boy did not stop running at him.

“Why don’t yer settle down there, boy”

“Get out. Of. The Way”, Silas replied, pretty much in front of him.

“While I’m asking nicely, just…”

With one swift motion, Silas swung the arm hidden behind him, the intent uncertain, as the man had done nothing wrong with him. But as the knife caught air, Silas resolved himself, maintaining the swing, as it cut across the defending man's nose, and his eye.

“Fffffuck”, he screamed, throwing a punch of his own.

But Silas was not only taller, he was quicker too, as he sent a kick to the man's stomach knocking him over onto the pavement. Leo behind him, dodged out of the way and without a moment of thought, took off running down the street again.

‘I should kill him too’, Silas weighed the outcomes quickly.

He knew full well he’d be caught and charged for manslaughter.

‘But Leo’s getting away again’, he grimaced.

“Call the cops and I’ll kill you”, he let the man go, chasing after Leo with a warning.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

He didn’t know if the man would be intimidated though, but it was a bluff anyway. He wasn’t coming back to clean up his mess.

As Leo ran, he could slowly start hearing the voices of people. Not just one, but many. His hazy vision looked up from the ground, panting and without breath he continued pushing himself further, until he started hearing traffic, and saw a lively bar past the intersection.

‘Finally’, he thought.

‘Finally, no more’

He didn’t have it in him to scream, instead only a hoarse whisper came out, “help me”.

The car noises drowned out any semblance of noise however. So he walked. In the middle of the street, he walked into the middle of the intersection. Only…

Beep Beeeeeep!

A car honked its horn, pressing it down continuously.

“Get out the way, dickhead!”

Leo turned his head slightly to the side, blinding his eyes with the headlights.

“Fuck”, he yelped to himself, dodging backwards just in time as the car zoomed past him without a care.

‘Just a little more’, he encouraged himself.

But fate had other plans.

“Ooof”

He couldn’t even hear him, not with the noise drowning out his footsteps. He was momentarily stunned as he was tackled onto the ground by Silas, pinned as he sat on top of him.

Silas leaned in forward, his breath could be felt by Leo’s ear.

“Got you now, fucker”

Leo gave up, deflated. He had already lost too much blood, with no energy left to struggle.

Silas brought the knife above his head, preparing to end it all with a myriad of stabs. The fun was over, and there was no need to draw out things any longer. That was what got him into such a mess in the first place.

His actions however, came to a halt as a deafening sound filled both his and Leo’s ears.

“BEEP BEEP, IT'S THE MOTHERFUCKING TRANSMIGRATION MACHINE. GONNA SEND YA DOWN A RIVER OF PAIN, WITH NO GAINS. ONE SHOT, NO STOP, THA...”, thunderous music was being exposed from a truck's open window.

A gruff looking driver tapped his arm out the window alongside his truck, nodding his head along, his hoodie swaying with his head movements. The beast of a truck was approaching fast, and encouraged by the sound of the music, it was Silas’s turn to turn his head and expose his irises to the blinding light.

His face clenched up as a result, turning back to Leo and plunging the knife down.

“Augh”, Leo let out a quiet groan.

“DON’T STOP, LEST, I, RUN YOU OVAAA, BETTER FUCKING RUN OR I’LL TURN YOU OVAAAR”, the truck driver could be heard screaming in a husky voice along with the lyrics.

Silas’s face turned one last time, to witness a split second of the truck slamming into his face, being sent flying several meters away. He couldn’t see, it was complete darkness. He felt his body flop on the ground rolling over a couple of times, his appendages being bent in all sorts of weird angles. He couldn’t feel much, but the small amount he could, was just agonizing pain.

Leo remained on the ground as he were, while the truck drove over him. He was fine until the first of the tyres came, going straight over his leg, crushing it to mush.

“FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCKK”, with renewed vigor, or an insurmountable amount of pain, he screamed.

The truck suddenly stopped before the 2nd row of tyres could run over his already mushed leg. But Leo was already squirming in pain, looking around in agony, until he saw from under the front of the truck, Silas covered in blood and broken bits.

With a target to vent on, and a seething amount of anger and grief. He dragged himself with his one good arm, and his one good leg, slowly out from under the bus with a reinvigorated spirit, and an insurmountable amount of will.

“What the fuck was that…”

The truck driver mumbled to himself as he stepped down from his truck, to investigate the strange sound and vibration he had felt. He had stopped in the middle of the intersection, but there were no other cars around to care. He looked under his truck to find nothing but a trail of blood.

“Fuck, another one”, he muttered to himself once more, the realization kicking in, and slowly walked around to the front.

There the sight he saw astounded him. His gaze moved from the blood trail coming from out under the truck that had trailed its way several meters out, whereby the owner of such fine blood, was still dragging himself slowly to a mangled body. Of whom, the driver realized, was the reason for his truck's vibration.

“This shits surreal”, he thought to himself, watching as Leo had begun mounting on top of Silas.

He took out a phone from his pocket, acting as a perfect bystander would, confusing his role in this matter, as he was in fact technically the perpetrator.

Leo, however, was not aware of what was going on around him, as the only thought in his mind was to get revenge. He looked at Silas, but his face had caved in. Any semblance of his typical handsome appearance was lost. He was in such a sorry state, that it didn’t seem like Leo had to do anything to make it worse.

One arm of his had been dislocated positioned above him, the other was under his body. He didn’t bother to turn and see the state of his enemy's lower half, considering that from the damage of torn clothes and many open wounds that he could feel as he lay on his body, he knew it wouldn’t be in any better state.

Leo felt like he was on the verge of fainting. All the blood loss he continued to lose until now, and the loss of his leg took too much of a toll on him. But he figured if he fainted now, that would be the end of him. While the person that did this to him may not be in any better state, he wasn’t about to leave it at this.

With the last of his strength, he raised his fist and punched Silas straight in the jaw, doing no more damage than had already been dealt. But he kept at it, eventually dislocating it as if it only needed that little bit more of a push to come off. He felt proud of himself, but also felt it wasn’t enough.

For a final petty act, his face strained and tried to cuss, but he struggled to even eek out a sound. Instead his lips trembled as he struggled to gather his saliva, finally spitting on his mortal nemesis’s face.

“Fucking… irredeemable… pussy shit”, he hoarsely muttered to himself.

This wouldn’t be an end to his toy. No, he ended that long ago. This would be the end to utter unfermented trash that stagnated and refused to move on from his mercy. So he gripped around his neck, in an attempt to squeeze any semblance of life that remained out of him.

As Silas lay there, he felt a slight change in his groin area, as if some weight had laid on top of him, but otherwise all he did was continue to try and feel. But feeling anything was a painful effort, still, Silas knew that the pain meant he wasn’t dead.

As he felt around him, he felt an impact somewhere on his body, his face perhaps, but it was such a numb feeling that he couldn’t be sure. He couldn’t really hear either, the only thing he listened to were the sounds of his inner monologue.

‘My eyes, no. My head is probably busted. Probably not long before I go…’

‘Death…’

‘Is this really how I go?’

‘But I can’t die? I promised after all’

‘Though nothing I can do about that now. It’s a wonder that I’m even still alive’

‘Alive…’

‘Leo’s still alive’

‘...’

‘That FUCKERS STILL… Alive’

Silas realized then. A single part of his body that could move. He knew what it was instinctively for one reason only. It was a familiar sensation. It was the grip of his knife. He remembered then, as he flew through the air, right after the impact of the truck. The only part of his body he had bothered to protect. His arm with his knife, he held closely to his body. The only thought he had then, he reminded himself now.

‘I will end you, I swear. With this blade, my vengeance will be exacted’

Perhaps if he was in his right state of mind, he would have cringed at those thoughts. But they were as earnest as his feelings allowed.

While he felt his arm move, his hand never lost the grip of his blade. He felt a weight that binded it. It took effort, and even more pain. Pain that he couldn’t vent out, instead suffering with it internally. Perhaps this, pain, was all he would feel before death. He deserved it anyway. Yet there was one he knew deserved it even more. One more that needed it to be complete.

He didn’t know. But he knew of Leo’s personality. The weight on his groin must be him. Otherwise, he had failed everyone he’d lost. He only hoped, as his arm came out from his body. He swung it up, making contact with something. Something fleshy, but he could only assume.

Because he couldn’t feel anymore. No weight. No amount of pain. Not even his arm. His consciousness that was spanned with darkness seemed to light up instantly with a bright white light, blinding him within his closed eyelids. He felt nothing. And it was then.

That he became nothing.
