Chapter 9.5: Internal Affairs: PT 2

In a large L-shaped room, tiled floors and beige wall patterns, Kinzo and Ayumi stood at the front of a long line. The booth was growing more crowded as time went by; their presence obviously a hiccup in the system. Kinzo’s eyes straining, as a large vein exposes from his forehead.

“What do you mean it’s the wrong form!?!”(Kinzo complains loudly)

A petite attendant who found herself at the forefront of his complaints, was quivering from the knees down. The girl was blond, with a small green beret and overalls to match; about a foot shorter than Kinzo, and was feeling quite flustered.

“Kuroki-Dono was it? I.. I’m trying to say that, the form you have provided here, is for someone who has already passed on to the other side. You can clearly read it at the top of the form.”(The attendant tries her best to be audible)

Giving off a hateful glare at first the attendant, Kinzo swings his head around to see the earth elemental guard, thoughtlessly scratching itself without a care in the world.

“Tsk”(Kinzo clicks his tongue)

Looking around the room Ayumi was surrounded by large figures, in which she could hardly peer between. Slowly growing more crowded, she rather forcefully grabs hold of Kinzo infront of her in search of help.

“Hey! What’s the hold up! ”(A familiar voice calls.)

Unable to spot the origin of the voice, Kinzo chooses to ignore it, Putting his efforts into hurrying the process along.

{{Ugh, This is getting too troublesome. I should have just warped out of here.}}(Kinzo thought)

Leaning over the counter, towards the small attendant, he gave off a merchant like smile.

“If you can let us through, then i’ll make it worth your…”(Kinzo whispered as he was cut off)

A loud shriek came from the line behind them. The voices he had heard earlier; their faces now in plain sight. Tenmei, Royuk and Luke stood in their spiritual forms, halfway in line to the same booth. Their expressions altered instantly, although each of them in quite a different way. Luke, was struck by disbelief, and laughed. Royuk quickly took a knee, like that of a soldier. And Tenmei… Tenmei ran for his life; clawing and stepping on people to get as far away as he could.

“Hahaha Serves you right, ya monster; You ended up here just like the rest of us.”(Luke says to Kinzo while laughing)

Royuk’s eyes widened at Luke’s comment, which was followed by a sharp neck chop. Grabbing the back of Luke’s head, Royuk forces it onto the ground in a large bow, while doing the same himself. Immediately after, Luke struggles to escape, unsuccessfully.

“What the hell are you doing! Get yer hands off me.”(Luke complains to Royuk)

“Shut the hell up, This was all you and Tenmei’s fault.”(Royuk reprimands Luke)

Silencing his subordinate, Royuk looks up to the young girl behind Kinzo. Immediately recognizing her from the event. Tears start rolling down his eyes.

“So, you’ve come to take her back… That’s good… no.. that’s great.”(Royuk shuddered as he spoke among his tears.)

The whole situation was getting out of hand. Many onlookers were gathered taking interest in the new found drama unraveling. It didn’t take long before many mythical beasts were present as well; Minotaurs, satyrs, sirens, dryads, even a hydra and earth dragon. It seemed like a prudent time to try to wrap this up.

“Royuk-do… no; Captain. I’m sorry that things had to turn out this way.”(Kinzo states)

Shaking his head to either side, Royuk looks up from his pose to see Kinzo’s face full of regret. Reflecting for a moment, Royuk once again pushes his head against the floor in a display of gratefulness, this time releasing Luke’s head allowing it to spring upwards.

“Thank you… Thank you so much Kami-sama. For all of our lives!”(Royuk cried out)

The crowd, was suddenly split into three factions. First, those who laughed at Royuk and his plea, second were those who were counting through the main 7 gods confused at what he was talking about. But last, were those who were old enough to understand the true mythology; among them the hydra and earth dragon were the first of the crowd to bow.

“I am sorry for my ignorance, to think that Kinzo-sama would be here.”(The first of the hydra’s three heads spoke)

“See I told you it was him, His hair is a little brown, but no one has that kind of aura”(The third head speaks to the second head.)

“Shut up, Of course I’d wonder! He’s not even using any divine power.”(The second head responds to the third.)

Giving off a monsterous sigh from the first head, the hydra’s breath almost pushes Ayumi off balance. Grabbing hold of Kinzo, she managed to avoid falling. Now that the two large bodies of these creatures were in the middle of the room, you could hardly call it a “Line-up”. If anything it was now just a large consolidated audience.

“Ah, well this got out of hand fast… Didn’t it Ayumi-chan?”(Kinzo whispers to Ayumi)

Overhearing his comment with his large size, The earth dragon appeared confused. Opening his eyes and addressing Kinzo with a glare.

{{Holy shit this guy is huge… Does he want to eat me or something?}}(Kinzo thought)

However to his surprise, as soon as the dragon spoke, he felt more relieved. A soothing female voice like that of a mother; provided quite the contrast between her appearance and personality.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

“So why don’t you just call for Maya-sama?”(The earth dragon suggested)

Thinking back to his rank, Kinzo slapped himself in disbelief for his incompetence. Then turned back around towards the booth attendant.

Gone to lunch - Be back soon

A small triangular sign sat on the booth, and the attendant was nowhere to be seen.

{{Oh Maya-sama, How did I get myself into this. It’s my first week on the limbo-team and all this craziness happens!}}(Attendant)

Sitting in a small ball with her legs to her chest, hidden behind the counter; the small attendant rocked back and forth, hidden from sight from the others. Somehow, throughout this mess, her co-workers made a masterful escape without her. Leaving her alone on the frontline.

{{Impossible. I can’t handle all of them myself, and they are already all riled up!}}(Attendant)

Scratching his head in confusion; Kinzo gives up with a lazy shrug. Looking down to Ayumi, who was starting to have trouble standing.

{{I guess even spirits get tired}}(Kinzo thought to himself)

Turning around and patting Ayumi on her head, Kinzo gave her a reassuring smile. Her eyes lit up as they met his, Perhaps it was just the unfamiliarity of black eyes, but she was enthralled for a moment.

“Ahhhh, Well we tried right Ayumi-chan? Looks like we can’t get the paperwork done right. So why don’t we just leave already?”(Kinzo suggests)

The attendant squirms as she hears his declaration to break the rules; surely she was not about to allow someone to pass without the proper paperwork. So in a fit of justice-induced adrenaline she stood up and pointed at the two of them calling out.

“HEY! You can’t just leave here, you need to follow the proper procedure.”(The attendant calls out)

Immediately after exposing herself, she was picked up by her collar by the first hydra’s head. Pulling her over in front of Kinzo in what the hydra had deemed her “Appropriate spot while in front of him”. Now situated between Royuk, Luke, earth dragon, hydra, and Kinzo, she fell to her backside and quivered in their presence.

“Young one, do you really not know who you are speaking to?”(The earth dragon questioned her in a friendly tone)

Before the attendant could get out an answer, a loud daunting shout came out from behind service boothes. A tall, brown haired woman wearing a similar beret, but in blue; came out from behind the counter and began pointing a finger at the large group of entities.

“What the hell do you all think you are doing! I came out here to check why things were moving so slowly. Not only do I find that all the attendants were scared away; But you all, are here attacking one of the staff!?

I don’t care who you are, or were during your lifetime, If you attack one of our staff members then we’ll be sending you right to hell. I can swear to that.”(The supervisor threatens)

Walking into the mass of creatures without a hint of fear, the woman closes in on Kinzo and the attendant. First glaring at both the hydra and dragon, she kneels down and assists her co-worker onto her feet.

“Are you alright Aiko?”(The supervisor dusts her off)

Taking a quick glance around herself, she quickly took shelter in the arms of her senior. Hiding her face from view; while at the same time nodding. Looking up from her friend, the brown haired woman points upwards at Kinzo paired with a threatening gaze.

“And you. Don’t think that you will escape from what happened here, I’ll make sure that you suffer for what you’ve done in the afterlife!”(Supervisor curses at Kinzo)

After her comment was made, the room shook with a number of rumbling laughs. The three heads of the hydra and the dragon has began to tear up at the humour of the situation. Leaning closer towards Kinzo, the earth dragon whispered.

“So what about asking for Maya-sama?”(Dragon)

{{Ah that’s right, the staff is back.}}(Kinzo thought)

Extending a businessman like smile to the supervisor. He introduces himself to the professional looking woman. First giving a small bow with his arm across his chest.

“Firstly I must apologise for my unusual situation. My name is Kuroki Kinzo. Is there anyway that I could speak to your boss?”(Kinzo asks)

A little annoyed by his question, the supervisor swings her arm up, and points towards herself with a thumb.

“I am the boss here, Do you have a problem with that?”(supervisor)

{{Well apparently you have a problem with us…}}(Kinzo)

“Um. Are you sure there is no one else? Where is Maya right now?”(Kinzo asks)

Rumbling in the background only continued to grow from the two large creatures. Taken aback by his forwardness, the supervisor could only respond with her true feelings.

“HA! Like Maya-sama would ever come to meet someone like you, You are less than a worm when compared to her majesty!”(Supervisor)

That was the last straw, the giant hydra and the earth dragon, could take no more and simultaneously fell on their backs in laughter; causing substantial damage, and several to flee in fear of being crushed. The sound of the scales/rock scaping against the floor was near unbearable, but even that was drowned out by their laughs of disbelief.

“YOU!? You are going to lock up Kinzo-sama? Wahahaha”(Hydra head #2 spouts off)

A large form begins to loom over the brown haired woman; the earth dragon had stood up on her hind legs between her and Kinzo and was providing a protective aura. Moving her gigantic tail to coil around herself on the floor, provided a threatening “Crunch” to accompany her new posture.

“If you want to harm Kinzo-sama, You’ll have to go through me first.”(The dragon snarls at the supervisor)

However thick her mask of professionalism was, it would shatter in an instant when up against the bloodlust of an ancient dragon; even if it was just a spirit. The supervisor and her attendant Aiko, fell to the ground, their knees giving out from under them. Reaching into her inner pocket, she pulls out a cylindrical device. On one end a red button and on the other a cartoonish looking antenna. Pushing the button as hard as she could, the detonator began to glow. Brighter and brighter it became, until she was too afraid to hold it any longer and threw it towards the dragon. Raising it’s left wing to cover it’s forearms and torso, the dragon was left confused without an impact. After removing the cover it was self-evident that the remote was not intended to explode. Now between the dragon and the supervisor was a very familiar mirror like portal.

“Ohohohoho, Seems like you’ve got yourself into a lot of trouble Kiyoko, although you have my thanks for protecting Aiko”(A figure speaks as it passes through the glass)

Upon hearing the enchanting voice, the supervisor “Kiyoko”, was now showing a face of great relief as well as a considerable amount redness. A gorgeous straight green haired deity glided through the portal, and made a cute little landing with a *thud*. She was 5’8” had large round blue eyes and wore a dress fit for a medieval noble’s wife. A blue dress with corset that accented her hair and eyes beautifully.

“Ahhh, Maya-sama!! Please help, these creatures won’t stop ganging up on us.”(supervisor Kiyoko)

Kinzo’s face turns sour upon the sudden change of her tone. Covering his face, he stood quietly waiting out this mess. Occasionally looking to Ayumi, Who seemed to now be fascinated with the rock scales of the dragon in front of them. Out of sight from the women, he could let this play out without being the center of attention.

“Ohohoho, And you who do you think you are attacking one of my chosen staff!”(Maya Points proudly at the earth dragon.)

The earth dragon, adopting a more servitile posture places its large head on the ground while addressing the deity. An honourable posture that displayed nothing but respect.

“Ha! So I see you have some sense in you. However! Don’t think i’ll let you off just because you know your place.”(Maya scolds the rock dragon in front of a large audience.)

“It is forbidden to attack any of the staff here. Everyone who is transported here knows that. You can’t use your abilities for violence or intimidation while in queue. It doesn’t matter who or what you are!”(Maya)

The ranting of the goddess continued on for at least a span of 4-5 minutes before anyone else spoke up.

“This is ridiculous, I can’t believe in the lot of you.

Well, What do you have to say for yourself?”(Maya questioned the dragon)

Opening its eyes after the long reprimanding; the dragon looked to the deity with a very serious expression.

“Maya-sama I have only gone about protecting those important.”(the dragon states)

With an obviously annoyed face, she extends her hand pointing at her own face. Gesturing as if to ask if the dragon was speaking about her and her staff.

“And who would be more important than myself or my staff?”(Maya questioned, in almost anoritative tone)

The eyes of the dragon looked away from the goddess towards it’s rear. Noticing the young Ayumi playing around on the end of her tail. This was not un-noticed by the deity, who had disappeared and reappeared grasping the arm of Ayumi. Looking backwards at the face of the dragon while holding her in the air by the wrist, she said.

“This girl is more important than me and my chosen? Don’t get ahead of yourself!”(Maya mocked the dragon)

The dragon looks back to the goddess, shocked to her sudden display. Even more so, Kinzo was disappointed in her conduct; this was just reckless tyranny.

{{What the hell is wrong with her? she’s going nuts.}}(Kinzo thought.)

“This insignificant being, Disappear!”(Maya declared in a maniacal laugh.)

Raising her hand up in a motion to strike, a small ball of fire erupted from her palm. As the goddess assessed the despair and disappointment that lingered in the dragon’s eyes her smile of triumph warped into an expression of realization. An unfamiliar hand had grabbed her... “a deity” by the wrist.

“I really didn’t want to do this.”(Kinzo sighed)

A bright light unlike any other burst forth from directly behind her. One that even when facing away from, consumed everything in sight with it’s blinding presence.

[{Divine Transformation}](Kinzo)
