Chapter 2: The Encounter

Chapter 2: The Encounter

Leon had been back in his apartment for a few days now, and he was settling back into his routine. He spent most of his time on his computer, just like before, but he couldn't help feeling a little different. Maybe it was the memories of his time with his parents, or maybe it was the encounter he had on his way back home.

It was a normal day, and Leon was walking back to his apartment after buying some groceries. As he turned the corner, he saw an unknown man standing in front of his building. He looked about 30 years old, bald and bright blue eyes. He was wearing a pink apron over a suit, and was staring at his phone.

Leon hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. He wasn't used to seeing unfamiliar faces around his building, let alone someone dressed so strangely. But he decided to ignore the man and continue on his way. As he approached the building, the man looked up from his phone and locked eyes with Leon. For a brief moment, Leon felt a chill run down his spine. The man's eyes seemed to pierce through him, as if he could see right into his soul. But then the man quickly looked away and went back to his phone.

Leon shook off the strange feeling and entered his apartment building. As he rode the elevator up to his floor, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He didn't know what it was, but he felt like he was being watched. When he finally arrived at his apartment, he quickly unlocked the door and entered, making sure to lock it behind him. He sat down at his computer and tried to distract himself, but he couldn't help feeling on edge.

A few hours later, the doorbell rang. Leon hesitated before getting up to answer it, unsure of who could be at his door. As he opened the door, he was surprised to see the same man he saw earlier standing in front of him, but this time he was wearing regular clothes and holding a plate of freshly baked cookies.

"Hey there, neighbor! My name is Jake. I just moved in next door and thought I'd come by and introduce myself," said the man with a warm smile.

Leon was taken aback by the sudden appearance of the man, but he couldn't help but be charmed by his friendly demeanor. He introduced himself and hesitantly let Jake into his apartment. They sat down and chatted over the plate of cookies, and Leon found himself enjoying the company a little bit.

As it turned out, Jake was a kind and sociable guy who enjoyed meeting new people. They talked about their interests, and Leon found out that Jake was a chef who had recently opened his own restaurant in town.

Before he left, Jake invited Leon to come visit his restaurant and try some of his signature dishes. Leon was hesitant, but he couldn't decline it. As Jake left, Leon couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected company and the delicious cookies.

After Jake left, Leon sat back down at his computer and tried to focus on his games. He found himself still feeling a bit on edge from earlier, but he tried to push it to the back of his mind. He started playing his favorite game, and before he knew it, hours had passed.

He was so focused on the game that he didn't even notice the time. It wasn't until he received a notification that he had reached the highest possible rank in the game that he realized how long he had been playing. Leon was thrilled with the achievement, and decided to celebrate it by ordering himself some Uber Eats.

As he finished his meal, Leon couldn't help but notice how he had been neglecting his health lately. He looked at his muscular body, wondering if he would get fat if he ate too much and didn't exercise at all. With that thought in mind, he decided to start a training routine.

Leon spent the next hour doing a few simple exercises in his apartment, such as push-ups and squats. He could feel his muscles stretching and working, and it made him feel good to know that he was taking care of himself.

After he finished training, he took a quick shower to freshen up. He put on his favorite orange pajamas and got into bed, feeling content and satisfied with his day. As he closed his eyes, he couldn't help but think about his encounter with Jake earlier. Despite his initial reservations, he found himself looking forward to trying out the food at Jake's restaurant. With that thought in mind, he drifted off to sleep.

At around 7AM, Leon was jolted awake by loud noises coming from outside his apartment. He groggily got out of bed and stumbled to the window to investigate. As he opened the window, he saw that it was Jake who was making all the noise - he was renovating his apartment.

Leon considered going back to bed and ignoring the noise, but he didn't want to be rude. He would feel bad for not helping Jake when he moved in, so he decided to offer his assistance. He put on some clothes and knocked on Jake's door. Jake answered with a smile, happy to have some help.

Together, they worked on Jake's apartment for several hours, hammering and sawing away. Despite the hard work, Leon enjoyed the camaraderie he felt with Jake. They talked about their lives and interests while they worked, and Leon found himself liking Jake a bit more.

After they finished, Jake complimented Leon on how strong and handy he was, he invited Leon to his restaurant for a meal to thank him for his help. Leon hesitated, but he couldn't decline the offer, since he got pretty hungry after working for hours. The restaurant was luckily not too far away, so they walked there.

On their way to the restaurant, Leon couldn't help but notice how many people greeted Jake. It seemed like everyone knew him, and he was well-liked in the community. This made Leon a bit envious since he wasn't used to getting much attention from strangers. Jake, on the other hand, was the complete opposite, as he greeted everyone with a warm smile and a friendly wave.

As they approached the restaurant, Jake pointed out some of the dishes on the menu that he thought Leon would enjoy. The interior of the restaurant was cozy, with dim lighting and soft music playing in the background. Leon felt a bit nervous, but Jake's easygoing personality helped to put him at ease.

When the food arrived, Leon was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. Jake's culinary skills were truly impressive, and Leon couldn't stop raving about the meal. They talked and laughed over dinner, and Leon found himself enjoying Jake's company more and more.

After dinner, Jake insisted on paying the bill, despite Leon's protests. They walked back to their apartments together, and as they said their goodbyes, Jake invited Leon to come over and play some video games with him sometime.
