Awake in a Greek hospital

Awake in a Greek hospital

He regained consciousness barely, vision blurry, he spits out bitter seawater. He felt something hard on his arms. He looked down to see his arms were on the wood he held onto the ship. Atlas thanked his quick thinking but had no idea how he evaded the storm. Atlas lifted his head weakly to see anywhere for a person. However, no one in sight could be seen. The sea was calm and he could only hear the plip plop of the small waves created. Time passed, and Atlas drifted in the sea until a faint voice could be heard from the air

“ Why did you stop?

The voice questioned someone

Atlas passed the voice as a hallucination. His throat was bone dry and his head was aching. So he believed that he wouldnt be saved in the middle of the Atlantic. Its a fools dream. Atlas felt a searing pain in the ribs, but he had no energy to reach down and see what was wrong. The voices continued above as Atlas's consciousness slowly faded.

“ Look down in the sea. Something is floating in the water.”

The other voice answered

“ Why would there be someone in this ocean? Wait, You're right, there is someone in the water.”

A wish of the air came and sounded like thunder. A sound of flaps got closer to the injured Atlas. Then

Two pairs of white claws, the length of two times the size of a average man wrapped around the body of Atlas on either side of him. Atlas' body and the wood he was laying on is lifted in the air.

A voice said

“ Be careful, I see injuries on him. We need to take him to the healer.”

“ I know, I know”

The voice retorted

Other conversations commenced, but Atlas fell into a deep sleep.

The next thing Atlas knew, Atlas heard a flurry of sounds too inundated to be heard clearly. However, he could hear a non-existent sound of talking, but not make out any words he understood. He slowly opened his eyes to see white smooth marble on the roof of a building. Atlas turned his head and saw rows of empty beds ending at the wide-open area of the building. Lights hung that were blinking lights. He sat up in confusion.

The last thing that happened was that I was in my boat. Wait, there was the crazy storm. I was lying on a piece of wood. How did I get here?

A sharp jolt of pain came to his side. He grabbed his side in shock, but felt a soft cloth on his side was bandaged to him. He saw he was wearing a cloth shirt and cloth pants. He was about to wonder where his shirt went but a voice said in alarm

“ myromin no rougnd!”

A language Atlas didn’t recognize and Atlas turned toward the voice and saw a middle-aged woman with brown hair, wearing a bright blue blouse and light blue pants. The woman walked toward him on a marble floor. Atlas raised his hands and said

“ Who are you?”

The woman looked at him in confusion. Atlas assumed the woman couldn’t understand her because she didn't respond to what he said. . The woman paused and then reached behind her neck to take off something. It was a blue jewel amulet held up by a thick cylindrical wood. She grasped it in her hand and gave it to Atlas. Atlas accepted the gift and put it around his neck. The woman spoke again and her words came to him and were in English

“ I said don’t touch your wound. You could make it worse.”

Atlas shocked said “Oh”, under his breath and said

“ How can I understand you now?”

The woman pointed at the necklace and said

“This necklace is specially designed to translate the words others say to you by its power. Your words translate into your language into what the receiver language is. “

Atlas's eyes went wide in awe and said

“ So that’s why I can hear you speak in English.”

When the woman got close to him. The woman's face was relieved and said to Atlas

“ The bandages are fine. Thank the gods you're alive. We found you bleeding out from your cuts and the slash to your side in the middle of Aiolis Sea.”

Atlas was confused and replied

“ You must be joking. There is no sea near America named the Ailos Sea.”

Now, this time it was the woman’s time to be confused. She hesitated and then asked something that shocked him

“ Where is this America you speak of?”

In the span of his life, every time someone mentions the United States. Everyone in the world knows the USA. Atlas stuttered in disbelief to reply

“ It's on the continent of North America and is known for Democracy and freedom.”

All the time, the woman's face was blank and worried. The woman replied,

“ That’s an interesting place you're talking about. “

Atlas then asked

“ Do you know where someone can take me home to America?

“ I can talk to someone to talk to the magistrates for you. Personally, I don't believe one such place exists but they may know about it. ”

Atlas was glad she agreed to help, but another thought came to mind.

Magistrates? What country calls their leaders magistrates. A place in Greece? No, Greece is on another continent and sea. So I can't be in Greece.

A pain the intensity of a ant bite ached on his head. He grabbed it and felt a leaves on his forehead. He was happy for these bandages to be their but out of curiosity he spoke to the woman

“ What is on my head and my ribs.”

He asked the woman. The replied kindly

“ They are the leaves of the mastic tree coated with we concoted. You need to rest, to let your wounds heal. The magistrates are usually away visiting their respective cities. If they will accept your audience. I will send a message to you.”

Atlas nodded and the woman turned around to walk towards the door. but,was about to leave; However she froze after one step and turned back towards Atlas and asked him,

“ I almost forgot. Can I ask your name? My magistrates would want to know your name so I can tell them who wants to meet them.”

Atlas smirked because he knew leaders of cities would obviously want to know who someone is. So he said

“ Certainly, My name is Atlas. Can I have your name? The one who saved my life. “

The woman replied

“ I bandaged your wounds as my job as the healer. Your life was really saved by the Dimon. My name is Frieda.”

Atlas was happy the woman healed him. Atlas wondered what Dimon was, but Frieda was walking to the door before he could ask. Frieda opened the door and left the building. Atlas could see that the sun shined brightly into the opening of the door brightly. A sign to Atlas that it was just the beginning of the day and stopped by the shutting of the door. Atlas layer down again because he wanted to heal his wounds and the pain would worsen if he got up.
