When I approached the door, the door slowly opened. I thought that there would be someone in front but there was actually no one. The room was really dark and a little dusty. My eyes can’t even distinguish a thing inside. Even the [Map] failed to scan the area. Also, the scent of something strange filled the area. In my head, I know something is wrong.
Despite knowing the danger, I went forward. The higher the risk, the bigger the rewards, they said.
“He-hello? Is someone in here?”
I shouted something stupid. Then I realized, it was too late for regrets.

The instant I was about to turn back a sound of closing door was heard. I rushed into the door and tried to open it but failed. It was tightly shut! Then, torches suddenly lit up surrounding the room. I slowly faced back then was horrified on what I saw.
Pile of bones were scattered all over the place, some were even stacked forming a small hill. Now I know what the strange scent is.
Witnessing this scene, I felt my hair all stood up. I wanted to run but my shaking feet won’t listen to me.
I raised my head and looked into the distance. There, a throne made of bones can be seen. On that throne, a pair of red eyes was directly staring at me. The creature was wearing a full body black armor that gives off a demonic aura. On its right hand was a giant sword with a skull on its hilt. And what surprised me the most was the information on top of that monster.

‘Oi! Oi! This is not funny anymore. Killing it is out of the question. Escape? Can I even escape? In front of this thing, I’m just a bug easy to kill. I did not choose a hardcore mode for this!’ I muttered to myself.
No matter how many times I calmed myself, my heart won’t stop pounding. I'm not scared of ghost but a scary thing like this? That is way above my threshold. I'm not good with this kind of thing.
Just at that moment, a demonic voice was heard filling the room.
“It’s been a long time since someone came here”
‘It spoke! Is it because it’s a boss? No, it’s not the time to be surprised. I should think of a plan to get out of here!’
Its expression did not change a thing. I tried to look around for another way out but lost my hope when I found the exit blocked by the creature. When I was thinking about other ways to escape, the demon stood up. Its aura alone made me almost piss myself. Facing this monster is suffocating.
“Prepare yourself!” He shouted while rushing towards me.
Horror began to rise inside my mind. I was not expecting that he would charge directly at me without asking my intention. Is it because I’m human?
I know i need to do something. Given my strength, I would be crashed with a single cut. Just by looking at the sword made me quiver. I know it’s sharp. I don’t want to die, at least not with an incomplete body.
There is not enough time to think and I know escape is not possible. I helplessly closed my eyes. What should I do?
Just then an idea came to me.
“W-w-ait!!”
Surprisingly he stopped. When I opened my eyes, the sword was few inches away from my head. Sweat poured all over my body.
“Speak, what do you want?”
The moment he spoke I feel relieved. Without batting an eyed, I dropped into the floor and kneeled.
“Oh Great Demon Lord, your great name is well known through out this land. I came here with no ill intentions but to offer you some tribute. Please accept them”
I know I’m not good when complimenting others but out of desperation I blurted out those words. I myself was shocked at the words I said. But this is my only chance to live.
Not wasting any time I hurriedly opened my [Inventory] took out some of the [Fruit of Life] and laid them down on the floor. I then took out my secret weapon, the [Suicide Pill]! This is the key to plan. Never did I consider that this could save me.
I secretly inserted it into one of the fruit. Fortunately the color of the pill is the same with the fruit or else it would be noticeable. The mark left on the fruit is almost negligible, maybe because of the size of the pill. A slight mistake might cause my life so I was careful this time.
I raised my head and looked at him. Fortunately, his face still did not show any signs of change, so I think it’s a safe? Thanks God he did not notice or else I would be dead right now.
“Hahaha, I know I'm famous but . . . . why would I trust you?”
I began to panic. But there was no time, I worked my brains out for an answer.
“Oh Great Lord, as you can see I do not possess any weapon and also my level is too low. In front of you oh Lord, I am a bug. This was just a misunderstanding, please have mercy on me”
I never praised anyone so much in my past life. Though it’s shameful, I didn’t have a choice but to gamble. With my life on the line, I prayed that he would trust my words and let me go.
“Hahaha, not bad. I, Turic, am merciful. I will let you live today. You can go now hahahha but remember no one saw me twice!”
His laughter filled the room. I was stunned at first but quickly collected myself. The demon seemed very pleased with the words I said. I thought this plan would never work, seems like I was wrong?

The moment he gave me the signal to leave, I immediately lifted my body and bowed to him. The door slowly opened. Without hesitation I exited immediately toward the room I was before.
“That was close!” I sighed with relief.
I still can hear my heart beating. I took out some water from my inventory and drink it. When my stamina was full, I decided to return at the shrine. I don’t want to stay in here or continue searching for an exit. Now knowing that this place is the Demon King’s lair, I started to return back.
It took me double the time to reach the shrine because of the stairs going up. It used too much of my stamina. But I know that I’m safe now.
For now all I have to do is wait. How much experience would I receive if I killed him? The gap between our levels is way too high. I should be given with so much experience right? Just thinking about it made me feel excited.
“Hahaha, it seems my unlucky days will come to an end”
I leaned into the tree and reached out some of the [Fruit of Life] and ate it. The nervousness I felt a while a back made me really hungry. While I’m busy eating, I remembered something. The quest!
Opening the [Menu], I noticed one registered quest. I opened it up and was stunned by the rewards for completing it. I did not have much time to read it previously, but now that I saw the rewards, I began to drool.

Just by hearing its name it’s sounded powerful. I then noticed the zeroes within the reward list. I tried to count how many zeroes were written. This amazed me again.
