I looked around the small room that I had appeared in, it was about ten feet by ten feet square with a ceiling a little over twelve feet high. In the middle of one wall as a body length mirror, with no windows or doors to be seen. I walked over to stand in front of the mirror and nodded at what I saw there.
From the mirror peered a tall man six feet tall with short cropped black hair, black eyes and a body toned from sports, martial arts, and combat. He was wearing a Terran Armed Services dress uniform, with both naval and marine medals and ranks of captain. I nodded at the reflection of myself.
"Well, Jack ole boy, what have you gotten yourself into now that you're dead?" I asked him, as I got one last throb of remembered pain from the fatal wounds to the heart, lungs, and right leg I had taken in that last battle.
I jumped as a voice seemed to come from all directions, including inside of my head, “Greetings Captain Jack Salker.”
“Who’s there?” I asked.
After about a minute the voice replied, “I am a part of the system, we are sorry that one of the gods involved couldn’t be here, however they are dealing with several problems only they can deal with.”
I looked around the room, still only myself and the mirror around, and smiled. “So where do we go from here gorgeous system voice?”
“Are you blushing?”, as I smiled lightly, taking in the slight pink color the walls, and even the light turned.
“I… I’m sure I don’t know what you are talking about,” came the reply while the room became even darker pink, and a sense of the speaker's eyes shifting frantically back and forth came into my mind.
I looked around the room some more thinking it would be nice to have a 3d computer to work on models and things. When I was younger and even in the military when I had the time I like to role play and worked on a virtual reality role playing game I had thought up. The game never did get far, due to the start of the wars. I was brought out of this musing as a 3d desk and a chair popped up. I sat down at the desk and started designing the ideas that had come to me in battle lulls.

“What are you doing Captain Jack Salker?” the system voice asked, which caused me to jump a little banging my knee on the desk. I felt no pain, just a slight jar, then looked up from the desk.
“Oh, working on the VRRPG, I never really got to finish while I was alive, and please call me Jack.”
“That reminds me of why you are here, the main god of another world has asked for a ‘hero’ soul, of which you have the qualifications requested. If you decline this you will be placed back into the reincarnation queue and will forget your past life. Accepting this request will allow you to receive ten abilities which may already exist or not. Please, if you wish to summon a galactic or cosmic level being or entity, make sure they do not already have other responsibilities.”
“Ummmm, that happen often?” I asked chuckling slightly.
“Only once that we are aware of, the goddess in question upset the soul being redirected and got bound as a summons. It took the system, years to clean up the mess afterward.”
I thought things over for a few second, “So, I get ten wishes?”
“Sort of,” with a small amount of humor in the reply, “however, we will follow as closely to intent, and try not to screw you over like with most beings that grant wishes. It is due to that we call them abilities instead of wishes.”
“That sounds good, can I get the race and classes I designed here, oh and I’ll need a space to store things,” I thought a bit more, then continued “Also it might be nice to see somewhat of the system I’ll be working with if that’s possible and doesn’t use up one of the ability wishes.”
“Yes. Yes. Dimensional Storage, Unlimited/Limited? And yes you can see the system without it taking an ability, just think ‘Basic Status’.”
