*Ba-thump. Ba-thump*
Kimberly and Nathan traversed the brush and rocky ridges while walking through the woods one beautiful afternoon. The sun’s rays were seeping through waving tree branches with bright green beautiful leaves on them. Birds were chirping and the wind was calm. “Are we almost there?” Kimberly asked.
Veins popping, Nathan stood firm. “A little ways away now…” He said, visibly in pain.
The two kept moving along leisurely, but if you could see them you’d know this wasn’t likely a simple stroll in the hills. They were geared up for something big. Kimberly had her M9 at her waist and a 12-guage double-barrel shotgun in her hands. And Nathan had dressed down a bit. Staying armed with his .44 Python and his Bowie Knife. He also had his flask. Unscrewing the cap he took a sip…
“Drinking at this hour? And I was starting to think you might actually be a good guy. Hell, even back when I thought you were a serial killer I wouldn’t have pinned you as a drunkard…”
Nathan took another sip. “It’s not for my enjoyment, but my protection.” He said as he held the flask out in front of Kimberly. “Honestly you should take a few glugs as well. The Seekers are essentially slimy eyeballs remember? If your throat is coated in alcohol it’ll burn them leading to their retreat.”
“Is that true?” She asked.
Nathan took yet another sip! “Well my ancestors seemed to think so.”
So he doesn’t even know for sure… Kimberly thought.
Despite this she swiped the flask from his hand and chugged nearly half the flask. Nathan looking out in astonishment at how well she could throw them back. She gulped one last time before handing it back to him. Saying “Ahhh.” As she burped a bit and continued walking. “Wow! You’d probably be pretty fun at parties…” He said as she ignored him and kept moving.
The two kept moving inwards toward the source of Nathan’s headaches. He’d gotten a vision that morning and decided they’d head to the store after the sun had arisen and grab some water as well as some booze… Now Kimberly understood why for the latter.
They joked and skipped rocks as they traversed when finally… “Hold it!” Nathan whispered aggressively. Ducking behind a rock as Kimberly followed suit. He unholstered his .44 Python and peaked over the rock. Spotting a log cabin as his headaches worsened. “This is definitely the place!” He said as they looked onward.
“My god… they killed whoever lived here didn’t they?”
“That or they assimilated them…” Nathan responded.
The two began moving their way up to the cabin. As soon as they hit the driveway *CRUNCH!* they found their way onto gravel. Not having noticed it on their way up. The duo then began moving slowly and more methodically. Weapons drawn and ready. Nathan knocked on the front door when a man who appeared to be in his mid-fifties answered it gradually. Nathan’s veins popping further, his brain going haywire as the man said…

“Hello, how can I h-”
*Bang!* Nathan shot him in the head. Falling to the floor in a spray of blood as Kimberly stood behind him in absolute shock! Wait… how did he… her thoughts were interrupted as a slimy spherical shape crawled up from within the corpse as Kimberly moved reflexively.
*Splat!* She stomped on it. Gel-like fluid leaking and spraying. “I got it!” She said as she looked visibly excited. “I’m a natural at doing that!” She says as Nathan enters the cabin. Weapon at the ready.
“Just don’t do that to the other one…” He said.
The other one!?
The two entered as they scanned the area. What they saw was plenty of animal furs and colorfully patterned throw blankets and old wooden furniture. But that wasn’t all. Amidst all the hunting memorabilia and old nick-knacks were signs of a struggle. A broken glass that hadn’t been cleaned up yet. Ruffled curtains and a few small blood spats and an indentation. Likely due to blunt force trauma.
“…” Nathan’s eyes were darting back and forth. Looking for the slightest movement. Any hint at all of a Seeker tumbling across the floor. But he didn’t see one. No slime trail, nothing. It must be hiding! He thought as he asked Kimberly to keep her eyes out for movement along the furniture and animal furs. Far above them, clinging to the joists was ghastly disgusting, lumpy creature.
It's features were toadlike. Webbed hands. A bulky and fat body with warts. Wide, slimy lips yet a peculiar head of long, silky hair like that of a woman’s. It’s eyes were wide with dark pupils, and as it blinks a slimy outer layer remoisturized it’s sight. A slobbery drop of saliva falls and hits the ground next to Nathan as he stood right under it. “What?” He said.
But before he could react it let go of the wooden beams above, falling heavily to the ground as Nathan was knocked to the floor and his .44 goes sliding under a nearby chair. It’s webbed hands pin his shoulders to the ground tightly, nearly crushing his shoulder blades as they creaked like they were about to snap. He could feel it’s human sex organ puckering as if it would suck up his whole body if it could. Pinned and incapable of moving the toadlike creature zaps it’s tung out, wrapping it around his neck! Choking him slowly.
“Nathan!” Kimberly aims her Double-Barrel shotgun but knows firing it would likely kill Nathan in the process. “What… what do I do?” She said defeated.
“Errrr! Ugh!” Nathan gargling in pain as he can’t seem to maneuver for his knife.
Finally a lightbulb goes off in Kimberly’s head. Alright Officer McKnight! She thinks to herself. This better work! Kimberly drops her shotgun before sprawling to the floor in the prone. She pulls her 9mm handgun and fires a few shots into the monsters back as it leaps off of him.
Despite his muscles aching Nathan wrestles the shotgun off of the ground as he and Kimberly put a few more shots into the creature as it twitched on the ground. Incapable of fleeing. Nathan then kicked it on it’s slimy, amphibious back as he unsheathed his Bowie Knife. Pinning by its leg with his knee as he thrust the knife into the top of its soft stomach.
“Nuooh!” The toadlike monster croaked with a feminine voice. “Noooo!” It croaked again more clearly.
Having cut the creature open from top to bottom Nathan spread it flaps apart with his hands. Kimberly was about to feel sick, noting to herself how its insides reminded her of the both the frogs she dissected in biology, but also human anatomy she’d learned about back in health class. Sickening.
“There you are you little bugger!” Nathan yelled triumphantly as he grabbed a big old clump of slimy tendrils like they were cable and ripped them from it’s body as it’s twitching stopped. At the end of the sliming tendrils… was a Seeker. “Kimberly… we’re in!”
