Chapter 37 - Mist Array

"Senior, I would like to request some Snow Silkworm eggs."

The elder at the Spirit Insect Pavilion was slightly taken aback, his brows furrowing as he said, "Young one, even many Inner Sect disciples struggle to raise Snow Silkworms. Moreover, the eggs are extremely precious. You can only receive two at a time. Are you sure about this?"

Alaric Ye was also a bit surprised. He knew that raising Snow Silkworms was rated five stars in difficulty, but he hadn't expected that even many Inner Sect disciples at the Spirit Beast Peak couldn't manage it.

It seemed that the difficulty was indeed very high.

However, he still stuck to his idea. With his Insect Emperor bloodline and the Ancient Ring of the Insect Emperor, he could always feed them his blood if necessary. Alaric had never encountered an insect that didn't like devouring his blood.

Now that Alaric's physical body had grown stronger, his vitality had also increased significantly. His blood production had improved a lot compared to before. With the smelly fart worm and these two Snow Silkworms, he was confident he could raise them.

He firmly said, "I've thought it through, Senior. I would like to give it a try. Please grant me this opportunity."

The elder shook his head slightly. "Very well, I'll fetch the Snow Silkworm eggs for you. I'll also give you some mulberry saplings. You can plant them in the spirit farms of the advanced miscellaneous disciples' courtyard. Mulberry trees grow quickly in the spirit farms."

Alaric's small courtyard did indeed have a piece of spirit farm, though it wasn't large, just enough to plant ten mulberry trees.

Soon after, the elder brought back a crystal-clear jade box, a small booklet, and a handful of mulberry saplings.

Before Alaric's hand even touched the jade box, he felt a wave of cold air rush towards him. He could clearly see two snow-white silkworm eggs inside the box. Snow Silkworm eggs were extremely precious, with one egg selling for five Spirit Stones in the market.

The booklet contained notes on raising Snow Silkworms and their living habits.

"Young man, if you manage to raise the Snow Silkworms, you can exchange their silk for unlimited contribution points at our Spirit Insect Pavilion. When you have enough Spirit Stones, the sect's contribution points might be more useful to you."

Alaric thanked the elder and flew back to his dormitory on his sword.

The smelly fart worm, seeing Alaric return, happily flew out of the dormitory to greet him.

Pfft, pfft, pfft...

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

It released a series of stinky farts in the process.

Alaric smiled wryly and held his breath, not blaming the smelly fart worm. Instead, he affectionately patted its shell before suddenly striking out with a palm. This palm carried the force of 2.4 horses, creating a gust of wind that dispersed the smelly fart worm's light blue stench into the air.

Although the surrounding smell was still overwhelming, at least he could breathe normally.

Alaric hadn't officially started raising the smelly fart worm yet, so its intelligence was still very low. It only knew to fart when it was happy, fart when it was unhappy, and fart during battles.

Besides farting, the smelly fart worm usually fed on flower nectar and smaller insects.

Entering his small courtyard, Alaric walked to the center, somewhat reluctantly taking out a shiny Spirit Stone and inserting it into a groove. Then he softly chanted, "Activate!"

A surge of mana entered a red jade stone beside the groove.

Immediately, the jade stone emitted a red glow, and a semi-transparent mana barrier formed around Alaric's small courtyard.

This was the Concealment Array in his courtyard, called the Mist Array, which consumed one Spirit Stone every three months.

It was Alaric's first time activating the array, and he was quite curious. Instead of going inside, he opened the courtyard gate and walked out, looking back at his courtyard.

All he could see was a large cloud of mist enveloping his entire courtyard, making it impossible to see anything inside.

"An Inner Sect senior said that only Foundation Establishment cultivators can sense the presence within the Mist Array, but they can't see inside. Only Golden Elixir masters, with their extended divine sense, can see everything clearly."

"There shouldn't be any Foundation Establishment cultivators or Golden Elixir masters watching a lowly miscellaneous disciple like me all the time."

Thinking of this, Alaric felt a bit guilty.

He recalled the gaze of Fairy Cyan Jade, the Peak Master of Spirit Beast Peak, during her inspection. Although it was brief, he felt it was somewhat unusual.

After all, there were hundreds of people standing in the square at that time. Why did she single him out? He considered himself quite inconspicuous.

"Could it be that I'm too handsome? Or was it just my imagination, and everyone felt they were being watched?"

Alaric frowned but couldn't come to a conclusion.

"Forget it. Fairy Cyan Jade is so high above, like heaven and earth compared to me. She wouldn't be so bored as to target me. My Insect Emperor bloodline can only be discovered by insects that have devoured my blood, and any insect that has tasted my blood would be utterly loyal to me."

Putting this matter out of his mind, Alaric's mood brightened again. He was quite satisfied with his small courtyard.

"I've heard that once you become an outer disciple, you'll have a bigger courtyard. And as an Inner Sect disciple, you'll have your own cave dwelling, situated on a branch of the Dragon-seeking Mountain Range's spiritual vein, where the Spiritual Qi is extremely abundant, making cultivation much more effective."

Currently, Zachary Song had a nice cave dwelling, and Alaric had visited him once, making him yearn for a cave dwelling of his own.

After closing the courtyard gate, the Ancient Ring of the Insect Emperor appeared in Alaric's hand. A white light and a black shadow flashed, and a giant python, Little White, and a large insect, Little Strong, appeared beside Alaric. Little White was two zhang long and as thick as half a water barrel, while Little Strong was the size of a millstone.

Over the past two months, Little White and Little Strong had been in the Ancient Ring of the Insect Emperor, and with Alaric's blood providing richer nutrients, their growth had significantly accelerated.

"Little White, Little Strong, we finally have our own courtyard. Although it's not very spacious, you are completely free!"

Although Foundation Establishment experts could sense the presence within the Mist Array, Little White and Little Strong had already mastered the art of concealing their presence within the Ancient Ring of the Insect Emperor. Unless a Golden Elixir master scanned the area with their divine sense, they wouldn't be discovered.

Moreover, why would a Golden Elixir master care about a few Qi Refining stage spirit insects? To them, all Qi Refining cultivators were mere ants, and even Foundation Establishment cultivators were just slightly bigger ants.

Little White and Little Strong cheered immediately.

"Great, Master! I want to swim and take a bath..." Little White said excitedly.

"Alright, we can dig a pool next to the training ground."

For cultivators, altering the terrain was a simple task. Powerful cultivators could even move mountains and fill seas, turning oceans into land and vice versa. So there were no restrictions on miscellaneous disciples modifying their residences.

Little Strong chirped excitedly.

Once out of the Ancient Ring of the Insect Emperor, it couldn't speak human language, but Alaric knew what it was thinking. It wanted to steal a Celestial Crane to make roasted Celestial Crane for Alaric.

Alaric's face changed slightly in fear, and he quickly said, "Little Strong, we haven't established ourselves yet. Let's talk about this later. Don't go out stealing and risk offending powerful cultivators."

Hearing this, Little Strong became dejected, feeling that its future was bleak.
