"Well, before I tell you what I have experienced I would like to know you know if you don't mind. My name is Hector."
"It's Amelia, it's nice to meet you, Hector."
As she says that she gives me a bright smile. I swear I will protect that bright smile since I have nothing left. It's going to hurt if she thinks of me as a freak, but she should know if we are going to survive together. It's better telling her now than finding out later losing trust in me.
"Likewise, and what I am about to tell you may seem strange and might freak you out a bit but please hear me out."
Upon hearing my statement she gives an anxious nod to indicate for me to continue.
After that, I explained the reason for my coming down and being attacked the first. Then about how I heard a voice telling me to devour the monsters and I attacked them and fought a bloody battle of trying to consume each other and how when I woke up all my flesh was stitched back to together and I was completely fine and that's why I was so bloody when she first saw me I also explained how I ate a red rock out of one of the bodies and I lost a bunch of wait and how I am stronger now than I was. While explaining all of this she looked to be somewhat frightened at me and somewhat disbelieving of me.
"To be you are right it does seem somewhat strange. If what you say is true then you don't get infected by the other monsters and even able to shrug off injuries. It is all hard to believe if you weren't so bloody when you got here."
She seems less freaked out about it and more unable to believe it. How can I make her believe me? Wait! There are some pens on the table. I immediately get up and get one of the pens and lay my hand on the table.
"What are you doing?"
"Showing you proof." With that I slam down the pen into my hand as hard as I can. With my increased strength it goes right through and embeds into the table under my hand.
"Ow!! Fuck, that hurts. I may be able to heal but I can still feel it."
"What did you do! Are you okay?" Amelia looks extremely upset and flustered and runs of into the bathroom to find some bandages. It probably shocked her to watch me do that but she seems like a caring person as she comes back and tries to wrap my hand in a bandage. I grab her hand softly to stop her.
"It's fine, look." I wipe away the blood and she could see that my hand was visibly healing at a slow rate.
"It'll be fine after a while, but now you can see that what I said was the truth at least right? Thank you for caring though."
"Humph, don't do that again." she proceeded to cutely puff out her cheeks pouting at me. I can feel my heart beating like a virgin seeing a girl naked for the first time. She is too cute. I haven't had a reason to live for a long time and I used to basically be a dead man walking but I want to protect this beautiful woman.
"I won't I promise. Do you have any kids or a husband that might be stuck in this hotel somewhere?"
"No, I don't. I am actually single. I came here on vacation by myself in hopes actually finding someone. I am already 30 without kids, I probably won't be able to find a man who has an interest in me at this age."
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
How can this woman that looks to be sculpted by the gods be single and unable to find a man? What the fuck is wrong with this world.
"I find it hard to believe a beautiful woman as you don't have men crawling to be with you."
"You think I am beautiful?" She looks surprised and blushes at my compliment.
"Of course."
"Thank you." She gives me another one of her trademark smile that could brighten anyone's day. Well, we should change the subject before we get to sidetracked.
"Anyways, since I have been out for a week I am not sure how safe the stairwell is going up as I didn't check the other floors when coming down. I could go by myself beforehand and check if it's safe or not."
"No, you can't go by yourself. It's too dangerous. yeah, you can regenerate but for how much? I would be worried to death not knowing if you are going to come back or not. Please let me go with you. I may not be very strong but I could at least watch your back."
Gah, this woman. Why is she so willing to put herself in danger. She is right though I am not sure how much I can actually regenerate. It will be dangerous for her but at the same time, I am kinda worried about leaving her by herself on this floor.
"Alright fine, but if I tell you to leave me please run."
"ugh fine." she looks somewhat dissatisfied at that but agrees. She really is a kind person. Most people wouldn't put themselves in danger like this and let me go. She really is different from all those gold diggers I met before.
"Alright let's gather what we can of clothes for you in a suitcase and head out. Try to go light in case we need to run."
"Okay" She takes a couple of minutes to grab some clothes in sticks into a duffel bag and we get ready to set out.
I slowly peek out the door into the hallway to check if there is any monsters and luckily there weren't any so we quietly head through the hallway past all the doors to make sure we don't attract any unwanted attention in case there really is some monsters I didn't see the last time I came through here. As we are getting ready to go around the corner I remember the scattered bodies I left and I stop.
"You are going to see something that will probably disgust you down this hallway. It's okay to close your eyes if you want."
"No, I need to see this if this is what is happening in the hotel. It might be happening all over the city for all we know.
I nod and go around the corner but my heart drops and I feel a shiver down my spine as all of the body parts that were scattered through the hallway is gone. The only sign of what happened is the dried blood everywhere on the floors walls and window.
"You said I would see something disgusting but all I see is blood, not that isn't any less unnerving but you made it sound a lot worse."
"No, there were definitely bodies scattered about but for some reason, they are gone now. I honestly am getting a really bad feeling about this as it hasn't been more than a couple of hours since the last time I was here. They surely didn't live right? That one I killed in front of your door was still there when we left."
"If what you are saying is true, then there might be something that... that ate the bodies. It wouldn't be farfetched to think they would also eat each other right considering all the stuff that has happened?"
"You're right, I guess not, but where did whatever that ate them go?"
With the thought of something came through here we proceeded even more slowly than before. We get to the stairs and luckily whatever it is that was here is gone now but that feeling of joy was short-lived as we see bloody footprints leading up the stairs.
"Well, at least we know where it probably went through that means the higher floors are definitely not safe now. I am quite confident nothing got to my floor as you need a key to the stairwell or elevator to get to my floor and the stairwell door is more reinforced than the others. I'm not so sure about the other floors since there were people there to begin with probably."
We slowly walked up the stairs and Amelia was grabbing onto the back of my shirt. I could see that she was shivering from fear. We passed the 36th and 37th floor just fine, but the bloodied footprint still moved up, and when we were coming up to the 38th floor we saw that the door to the floor was laid down in the stairwell as if it was ripped off of the hinges. Amelia grabbed onto my shirt tighter and I had a strong inkling that we were about to find out what ate all those corpses.
