Insatiable Gluttony
We need to talk (part 1)

We need to talk (part 1)

As I wake up, I am greeted by the sight of a white ceiling and the smell of disinfectant

I then try to sit up to figure out what’s going on when I feel a deep rumbling in my gut.

I look around and quickly see a green-haired golden-eyed boy around my age who, in turn, notices me and for a few seconds, he stares into my eyes as I stare into his. His face then becomes flushed and he rushes out of the room.

I then sit there on the bed, feeling like I haven't eaten in days as the haze of unconsciousness slowly lifts from my mind. I do not have to wait long however as the boy returns with a woman I recognise as the School Nurse.

As my eyes flicker to the boy for a moment, the boy looks away, blushing and hiding behind her. Must be her assistant.

“Oh, good morning! How are you feeling, Miss Gwendolyn?”

“Hungry.” It was almost the only thing I could think about, the feeling holding my thoughts captive.

“What am I thinking, of course you’re hungry, You look starved!.” She then looks at the boy.

“Kai, could you fetch some lunch from the cafeteria? Tell them Caitlin sent you” The boy, Kai, Runs off in the direction of the cafeteria

She then looks back to me

“Now, you’ve been unconscious for a whole day, do you know why?” She questions.

“No, all i remember is…” as I try to recall what happened, my memories flood back to me. Of my useless trait, lack of affinity and the Hunger. I start crying as I realise that my life is over. The Nurse is flustered at this turn of events and tries to console me to no avail.

However, my crying comes to a halt as a heavenly scent enters my nose.I begin to salivate as I look up in order to find the source.

I find Kai holding a tray containing a cup of milk and the source of the divine aroma, a plate of some toast, Bacon and eggs.

He unfolds some legs from under the tray and places it on my lap

Something in me snaps as I reach for the food, shoving it in my mouth, barely bothering to chew before swallowing. This process repeats, occasionally interrupted by drinking a mouthful of milk, in a loop of ecstasy until all of it is gone, I then Attempt to lick every last bit of grease and crumbs off of the plate and my fingers.

But as I finish licking my fingers, I realise what I'm doing and look up to the other two people in the room. Their faces both have a look of shock and horror, with some mild disgust.

As my entire face to the tips of my ears turn beet-red I turn my face down in an attempt to hide it.

“I was hungry” is all I can manage to say.

The room goes silent for what seems like an eternity, until it is interrupted by a distant shriek I recognised all too well

“WHERE’S MY BABY!”

A few seconds later, the door flies open, hitting the wall

*BANG*

A woman rushes into the room, looking like a demon in the guise of a human. Her eyes darted around the room before settling on me.

I feel an instinctual fear rise in me before it is washed away by an overwhelming feeling of comfort as the demon turns into an angel right before my very eyes and rushes over to me, pulling me into a soft, tender embrace.

“Come here sweetie, Let’s go home.” as she says this, Caitlin and Kai look at me with regret, wanting to know what happened

We then leave and drive home, mum deciding to give me some space so as not to destabilise the situation.

While in the car, I wonder why i still feel so hungry even though I just ate, and decide to check my satiety

Satiety: 10% (26% stored)

Oh… Right.

When I first saw my trait, I didn’t think that it would be this bad, that I would be so hungry. But now, all I can think about is food

Then suddenly, my thoughts are interrupted by a notification

By staying at less than 20% satiety for an extended period of time, you have earned the {passive skill};

{minor hunger resistance}

Feeling hopeful, I immediately look at the skill’s description, only to be disappointed

{Minor hunger resistance}

slightly increases the holder's ability to ignore hunger

I don’t feel any less hungry, but it’s suddenly easier to not think about food and how hungry I am. Unfortunately, that means I’m forced to think about my future, or more specifically what I’ll do once I get home and what I'll tell Mum and Dad, and I don't want to think about that right now.

When we get home, I go to my room, stopping by the kitchen for something to eat, in the hopes that my parents won’t follow me.

I then fall into blissful sleep, dreaming of eating delicious foods like pizza, icecream, chocolate, roast pork and something I c̷a̵n̶'̴t̶ ̵̛̰́̃̅q̶͉̏ṷ̶̡̎ḭ̵̇̇ṱ̸̛e̵̩̝͊ ̸͉̺̹̟̲͘r̶̥̈́̋ẽ̸̥̽m̸̢̝͌e̸̺͈̍m̴͔̑̚b̷̡̚ë̷̩́͊ȓ̷̛̮̝

I wake up to the family dog, Michael, licking my face. Although he acts like a spoiled puppy, he’s actually a young bright-wolf, being a monster that Grandpa picked up on one of his adventures.

I pet him for a good few minutes before i’m reminded of the now ever-more important task of feeding myself regularly

I make my way to the dining room, Michael in tow, I sit down and ring the bell. A couple people in maid and butler attire walk in with a trolley of food and start unloading some of the dishes.

As they are about to finish with the amount I usually have, I ask for more and they comply until the food amounts to roughly 5 times the normal amount.

“I advise against any more Miss Gwendolyn.” I reluctantly let them leave, and say my prayers. As I was about to dig in however, my Dad, who I hadn’t noticed entering, sat down across from me with a stern look on his face.

“We need to talk.”
