Into the Unknown

 Chapter 1: Into the Unknown

"What a beautiful day," Kizu thought as a monster impaled him in one of his guts. Kizu had never really taken the time to appreciate the beauty of the planets he protected. The rising sun made the sky glow orange, and it glistened off the purple water. All he could think was that this might be his last sunrise, and he might as well savor it. The monster in front of him, on the other hand, was anything but beautiful. This type of monster was unlike anything Kizu had ever seen before. Its scales were gray, and it had four arms, three of which held swords. Its mouth encompassed most of its face, and it had a big, grotesque smile. Seeing the monster's smile made Kizu want to take the smile off its face.

The monster tried to impale Kizu with another sword in one of its hands. He parried the monster’s sword with his right hand sword  then used his left hand sword for one devastating swing. The monster's head fell right off with no smile. There was no time for relief, though. Kizu looked at the sword that had cut through his green armor and pulled it out. He saw the green blood on the sword and noticed that it was a lot; he was worried but had no time to think. His armor sealed its own wound but not the one in his body.

"Orion, what’s the status of the rest of the team?" he mustered up. Even speaking hurt him. Orion’s voice spoke to him through his mask.

"Blue says you need to evacuate."

"Okay, Orion, activate the teleporter and get me back to The Omega."

A green beam surrounded him, and he was teleported to the ship hovering just outside the planet. Kizu felt comfort knowing he was back on The Omega. He ran to the hull of the ship and saw Blue in his armor, halfway laid down. Just by looking at him, he could see that he was hurt.

"Blue, where’s the rest of the team?"

Blue’s mask retracted into his armor. His orange skin was bruised and battered, but his eyes said more than words could. He opened his hands and showed three power stones: black, yellow, and pink.

"This can’t be," Kizu said.

"I failed you," Desim said with guilt in his voice. "I failed them," he added as he stared at the stones with deep sadness. "I should’ve known this whole planet was a trap." He brought the pink stone close to his face. "My sweet Shiara," he screamed, "you will be avenged, you will all be avenged."

Kizu’s thoughts rushed through his head, barely mourning his dead teammates when a red alert popped up on the screen.

"Another ship is inbound," Orion alerted. Orion appeared in his holographic form in front of them. He was just a giant white, somewhat transparent sphere. They could see a giant ship on the screen. Its size was ten times the size of The Omega.

"Well, if we die, we die fighting," Kizu asserted as his armor transformed back over his head.

"No," Desim said, "we can’t let Zeko get the stones. You need to flee and get these out of here."

"You mean we need to get them out of here."

"No," Desim said. He powered down his suit, revealing multiple dagger stabs that had injured him.

"You need a healing tank."

"No point. The injuries are fatal; even a healing tank can't fix this. I’m as good as dead," he said as his armor evaporated around him. Desim handed Kizu the blue, yellow, pink, and black power stones. "These are my last orders as the Blue Warrior: you must live, you must find new warriors, and you must get revenge."

"Yes, sir," Kizu asserted tearfully.

Desim stared at him with a gaze that could burn through the hull. Kizu crossed his arms and made his hands into two circular shapes, the Infinity Warriors' salute. Desim gave the salute back. Desim's eyes slowly started to fade away into the cool calmness of death. Kizu's eyes were lit up with only one thought. Then, boom! The entire ship shook. Kizu ran to the command post and put the ship into turbo speed. He tried to use erratic maneuvers to dodge the blasts from the ship behind, but the giant ship was surprisingly fast, and every other blast was hitting the shields.

"Orion, how much damage do we have?"

"A lot. It’s only a matter of time until the entire ship is destroyed. The shields are only at 50 percent."

"Then give me an escape plan."

"There is a black hole on the other side of the moon."

"A black hole? That’s not an escape plan; that’s suicide. We don't know where we will end up. We could get transported into the sun."

"Yes, that is a possibility, but there is also a possibility we get transported to a planet with existing high intelligent life or in the Galactic Coalition. It will also be impossible for Zeko to track us. Just because he goes through the black hole with us doesn't mean he’ll end up at the same place as us."

"So be it."

Kizu turned the ship 90 degrees and headed straight for the black hole. Zeko’s ship continued sending barrages as the shields kept deteriorating. The numbers on the ship's shield display dropped from 30 to 20, then 20 to 10, and finally from 10 to 0. Just as it hit 0, the next blasts missed the ship. The gravitational pull from the black hole made the blasts move randomly. But now The Omega was in the black hole's gravitational pull as well, but Zeko’s ship stopped moving forward. Kizu looked at the display and had a huge smile on his face. As Kizu entered the oblivion of the black hole, all he could think about was one thing, revenge.
