*Snape's POV*
I had landed in Hogwarts. My body relaxed after seeing the familiar halls lighted with torches that seemed to never go out but a slight movement inside my robes reminded me why I was here.
To stop anyone from seeing the blood on me I went straight to Dumbledore's Office.
The old man with a beard seemed to give me another of his wise all knowing looks and seemed to nod at my bloodied robes. Seemingly knowing that the task was already complete.
"Have a seat Severus." Dumbledore seemed to give me another of his all knowing look through his glasses and made a chair for me to sit on.
"The task has been completed I suppose." He asked whilst already knowing the answer.
"If it hadn't been then I wouldn't be here," I replied sarcastically as if it had been an easy feat to match seven death eaters at once but a few good potions in a person's food could do wonders in a battle. Even if that person had his servants check the food several times to make sure that it was safe.
"How's.." I started but Dumbledore was already ready with an answer.
"I have assured you several time Severus that she is in safe hands with her aunt and uncle."
"But they're muggles!" I retorted.
"Muggles that don't know a thing about our world. Muggles that will keep him safe until he's ready to come back here. We had a deal Severus and this was the only solution."
I shrinked back in my chair seemingly tired all of a sudden.
"A few words with you are more tiresome than a hundred arguments with Gryffindors."
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
"Well, then that means I'm doing my job as a principal well," Dumbledore replied with a chuckle. The previous dark mood having been thrown away.
Just then a small head popped out from between my robes and just then at that exact moment, I had won. Fuck the First Order of Merlin, in that moment I had managed to surprise Dumbledore. The only wizard on the continent capable of contending with the Dark Lord.
Some might argue that it was the child that had accomplished this but had it not been me that had brought the child to the castle in the first place?
"Who's that Severus?" Dumbledore asked seemingly trying to recover his lost dignity of being scared by a child.
"Oh, I found this child in the street," I replied casually.
"Oh, such a poor little thing," Dumbledore said while looking at the child flailing his arms around.
'A poor little thing that you were scared of. Ha,' I thought knowing that Dumbledore could look into them but never change them.
I felt like I had drunk several Felix Felicis to be able to witness what I had just now.
"You seem happy Severus," Dumbledore asked while looking at me.
'Of course, I am.' I thought. Not noticing my hand slowly patting the little child on the head.
"I think we should all be professor." I said and Dumbledore gave a soft 'Hmm' as a reply.
"That we should. Severus. Now please take the child to madam Pumphrey. It would be the best for both of us if the child doesn't get sick. She has worked overtime for so long that each injured perosn would die from her glare alone." Dumbledore said already assuming that I had adopted the child.
I tried to retort but I was out of his office just like that. Even though I would've been angry if such a thing had happened at any other time I couldn't help the smile that creeped up my face while looking at the child.
"Let's get you some attention," I said to no one as I took the child in my hands and started to move to the Hospital wing.
*30 minutes Later*
"Oh great. Another one in need of attention. What is it now Severus still got some unicorn dust in your eye. Honestly, you would expect at least you to know better but guess some basic safety seems to be our of our school's curriculum." Madam Pumphrey started without even looking at me and I knew that I was in for a long lecture while the culprit for my misfortune seemed to be snoring against my chest.
"I'll let this one slide child but don't expect anymore favors," I said in a hushed voice and continued to listen to the lecture. The seemingly innocent snoring of the child calming me down.
