The history of humankind is a strange thing. Things before the bio-apocalypse of the 21st century were… erratic. You had chaos everywhere, countries in protest, dictators, and poverty. People would starve because others thought that the tools to save them were bad, and when scientifically proven good, it was revealed in the end that they just were afraid of science. Then when the plagues hit, things went south. Radical factions formed, purging other humans. Then after Storm-bot, things got a lot calmer. Humanity was sick and tired of fighting endless wars, fighting overpopulation, fighting hunger. We set up a system where the smartest, most capable led. It was a sort of democracy, with no stupid campaigns, only intense investigations, rigorous testing, and ended with an incorruptible, intelligent leader. Then the process was repeated until there was ten. Then, from then on, it was your own personal merit. If you worked hard enough for a job as a scientist, you got one. Nobody took excuses, and all worked to the best of their abilities. What was left of humanity progressed fast in technology, and we started working on new technologies, improving life for all. What was left of Antarctica was settled, and we even built cities in the water.
There was a radical change of language and belief, with only three languages remaining, and one religion that was taken up by most everyone. The languages were Europiu, Asian, and Americani. Europiu was a mix of European languages adopted by Africa and Europe. Like English and German mixed together with a Swedish accent. Then there was asian, which looked like slapping Japanese and Chinese hieroglyphs together and then sounded Indian. Americani was essentially if English got Spanish italics. I personally spoke Americani, and lived on the Northern West coast, in one of the beach cities. Global warming had absolutely decimated the Earth, with half the species of animal dying, however plants flourished. A mix of Atheism, Catholicism, and Judaism. It was basically, we don’t know anything about it, but we know it’s there. We decide to call it whatever we want, and discover it how we want. Anyone preaching they knew about some heavenly figured might’ve just been hyped up on drugs or looking for fame. We have no idea what it is, so acknowledge its presence from time to time, do whatever else you want, just stay respectful.

With the flourishing of many plants, and the extinction of many animals, it was decided that an no-meat diet would be established. Everyone survived on a healthy portion of mushrooms, greens, and grains. Of course there were also other foods, but that was the main thing. GMO’s and CRISPR were heavily influencing plants, making each generation better. The harvestable parts would be harvested in large vertical farms that dominated the landscape of South America, and then the inedible parts were shipped to other farms that took the inedible bits, and let the hardy mushrooms grow on them, providing most of the worlds protein. It was a cycle that worked well, and had recently been re-established on Infinity.
None of that mattered though, because we were on Infinity. No one knew it yet, but we had established a solid foothold in space. We were ripping apart the Space Spectres, and we were setting up satellites for orbital bombardment. We had taken the tech of the Alliance. And with it we had become a superpower. We could take out key positions with a well-placed, magnet slingshot, a powerful new weapon that used advanced magnetics to launch powerful railgun slugs into things at extreme speeds. Each round was expensive, having shields to prevent the atmosphere from ripping it apart, and a few other bits as well. We were also gathering data from the satellites about Infinity. As far as we could tell, it wasn’t quite infinite, but it was enormous, and impossible.
