Darkness surrounds me, this hazy paradox of mist, i feel as though i am being hunted by some great beast of the night. My breathing erratic, somewhat like a panting dog. I hear footsteps in the deathly quiet of the night, echoing louder as they get closer. The area seems to lighten as the footsteps draw closer, i can just about make out brickwork at my feet in the gloom. I notice the sounds of light breathing coming from the direction of the footsteps. I try to run but something grabs my wrist, i turn to look. I see a face, hidden behind a mask of a thousand departed souls, glowing eyes look at me with hunger as the mask splits and the chasm of the void opens up, sucking me in.
I wake with a scream, "I'm alive". I think to myself. my heart is beating franticly, the dream seemed so real, after all. I notice that my clock has stopped, right at 7:06, "Oh hell, I'm late for work". Putting my vivid dream aside for now, I get ready in a hurry for my morning shift in my office. When i arrive at the front desk and report myself in, I head through the lift, then arrive at my office, there is the usual atmosphere of calm serenity that i am content with. I head to my manager's door and knock, "Come in", was the reply, I explain my lateness, my manager simply laughs, "The clocks went back an hour yesterday, so you are actually 15 minutes early". I check my watch and indeed it is 6:45, I must have mistaken myself when i got up this morning, I will check it later as I decide to rest later on.
