As my consciousness returns to me and my eyes open, all I see is white.
"Greetings, Joseph. Or should I say... Darian Brainard?" The soothing voice of a female reverberates around me.
"Who are you? And what is going on?" I say as anger begins to well inside of me, both scared and upset by the situation.
"You defeated Exavier, a being no other could defeat."
"That was just a video game, though. Is this some weird dream?"
The voice giggles, "This is no dream. Since you are the summoned hero, I should at least explain the reason as to why you're here. The game was not merely a game. The final boss was a real person, albeit stuck in a time loop. Every time someone fought the final boss, they were actually facing the real Exavier in this universe, their ships and custom NPCs being created with my magic. If they are successful... The actions they have chosen throughout their game become real."
"Uh... What the actual fuck?"
The voice giggles yet again, "Essentially, since you defeated Exavier in the game, you were transfered to my dimension, where you now have to mend its aftereffects."
"As some sort of goddess or something, isn't that your deal? You're dragging an innocent man into your own problems. How come you didn't just kill Exavier yourself, anyways?"
The voice becomes silent for a moment, "I can't directly influence the universe..."
"Didn't you already do that with having people from my universe kill Exavier?" I question the voice, anger beginning to swell up yet again.
"Oh, that's different! The rulings on summoned heroes is entirely different."
"So... a loophole? And you're still pushing all of your issues onto me?" I feel only one step away from yelling.
"Oh, boy! Look at the time! Your ship is about to get attacked. Hurry along now!" As the voice finishes its thought, my consciousness swiftly returns to the medical bed.
Shitty goddess! As I walk out of the room, I catch Anivia running back to the Medbay. "Anivia, what's the matter?"
"L-L-Lord Darian! It's an Elvish fleet! We don't know their intentions!"
"Understood." I swiftly make a break for the bridge. The slow automatic doors only adds to my impatience.
As the door opens and the bridge fills my sight, I see my various captains, as well as the crew of the bridge. To the far left, near the weapons console and weapon specialist crewmen, stands Ragnor Boulderjaw, the Dwarf, and several feet behind him with the technical specialists stands Aurora Venis, the cybernetically-enhanced Human. And finally, to the right on her lonesome, Tera Drach reaches an impressive 8' tall due to her long, yet powerful-looking spider legs on her lower half.
"What's the current status of the fleet? Where's Livia? Why is the Yellow Alert on?" I forcefully speak above the noise of the bridge as I notice the yellow glow of the lights.
Ragnor turns and bows to me, "Lord Darian..." Damn, his voice sounds so badass. His red cape with gold embroidery immediately catches my attention after my glance through the bridge. The black and red eyepatch and his bulging muscles, along with his voice, practically makes him walking testosterone despite being a little over 4'. "We spotted an Elvish fleet in the perimeter of our radars. Their intentions are unknown, hence the level 1 Yellow Alert. As for the state of the fleet, the hyperdrive systems on the Stormbreaker's (Dwarvish destroyer) fleet and the Drakeflayer's (Human frigate) fleet are still destroyed, and thus unavailable as they are in the Void Rift undergoing repairs, along with the Dracheos (Spiderling mothership) which is in critical condition. The Yggdrasil (Elvish Hospital Carrier) and Membros (Slime ship) are available, though Livia sustained some injuries in moving the planet due to a planetary crack that hit her bridge hard, and so her construction speed on her slimes is hindered. Currently, she resides in the Membros bridge awaiting orders."
He's so well spoken, too... Nothing like a stereotypical dwarf. However, if what the goddess said is true, I should try to remain in character. Who knows what might happen... What would Darian say...?
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
After pondering it for a moment, I hum thoughtfully, look down at the ground, then back at Ragnor, all an act. "Wonderful report. Computer specialists!" all of the specialists near Aurora turn their heads to look at me, "Quickly, find the average specs of their ships. Find me the highest caliber of their physical rounds and run a Krupp formula on them substituting Membros' resistance constant as K, and if they have magical rounds run a manaflow penetration and elemental resistance check on them."
"S-Sir..." I hear a meak voice pipe up behind me from the specialists as I turn to sit in the captain's chair.
"What is it?" I turn back around, feeling my red with black embroidery cape almost catching on a nearby rail, but I pull it forwards in time to prevent that.
The specialist is wearing the standard light-blue jumpsuit uniform for technical specialists. He has short, black hair and looks a bit scrawny. "W-What is Krupp's formula?" The other specialists also seem confused.
I almost broke character out of surprise, but catch myself. A high tech civilization doesn't have Krupp's formula? I used it all the time when playing to calculate penetration damage.
"Nevermind, send all of the data to my seat and I'll do it myself. Since we're unaware of the situation, take the precaution of using anti-Divination magic on our scans."
"Yes sir!"
"Weapons division, prepare a 4-5-1 ratio of magically enhanced D100 physical rounds, the standard Tier 7 S-Rank spell lineup on the Void Buster cannons, and AoE Cauterizing Tier 6 S-Rank spells for the Elvish racial spells. Stealth specialists, prepare an emergency escape group stealth in case of an absolute emergency. You are permitted to prepare Power-Break S+-Rank spells if the situation gets out of control." my voice booms throughout the bridge as specialists swiftly begin to work.
As I sit down in the captain's chair, a holographic notification pops up in front of me with the scan results of their flagship.
"Let us see... 250 mm standard rounds with magically enhanced propulsion running at around 11268 m/s. If I remember correctly that's an E70 round, which means it has a mass of exactly 69.68 kg. Now, this is some serious number crunching..."
The Krupp formula is B = (V*sqrt(P))/(K*sqrt(D))
Substituting in numbers, that means B = (11268*sqrt(69.68))/(3536*sqrt(250))
Take a moment, breathe.... You can do this calculation...
B =...... around 1.7 decimeters, or 17 meters. Wonderful.
That means that Membros...
My thoughts were cut off by the voice of Aurora.
"Sir, we're being hailed by the approaching Elvish fleet."
"Accept it." I say as smoothly as I can, but in reality I'm breaking down. I haven't had a social encounter like this since I dropped out of high school.
"State your name, race, and purpose of being in MY domain." a male voice says as an Elvish face appears faintly on the window overlooking the space in front of the bridge.
Goddamn, that is most annoying posh accent I've ever heard, and it's coming from an Elf.
"Your domain? I don't remember the region around Nexion being owned by anybody." Help, it's taking everything not to physically shake.
The Elf arrogantly laughs, "That's because it was just recently purchased by me! Now state your name, race, and purpose."
I snicker, and in a voice I haven't used since my roleplaying days I say, "Who hasn't heard of Darian Brainard? Are you a fool?"
"Darian Brainard, you mean the idiotic trash race of Human who wooed then kidnapped the Princess Anivia?"
Oh, I forgot I chose that questline on this character... I can't back off now.
"Kidnapped? She came of her own volition after your CORRUPT Elders tried to force her to marry yet another corrupt man!"
"Yet another corrupt man? That was me you imbecile! Now I'll exact my revenge and take my rightful bride!" the message ends as the Elf's face disappears.
I stand up, looking to the crewmen and captains looking to me. "Look like we have an annoying bug flying at us. Let's squash it!" Some of the crew chuckles at that and the Red Alert get announced.
Where was I in my calculations... The volume of a Slime Defender is 720 cubic meters... Since Livia's slimes reduce the penetrating force of a physical weapon by 80%, their penetration is around 3.4 meters. Creating a 14x5x10 should work. However, we need about 160934 square meters, or 100 miles, of coverage. Meaning that we need about 1,150 slimes.
"I have it all planned out. Alright!" I press the communications button on the captain's seat, "Anivia! Use the teleporter to board your flagship and notify me when you are ready for orders." I then switch channels to the Membros, "Livia! I need you to construct exactly 1,150 Slime Defenders. Can you do that?"
The most bubbly and energetic voice you could ever hear responds with, "Yes master! It will take me a few minutes, though."
"That's fine, we're lucky the enemy doesn't have fast thrusters, though it'll be a little close. I need the Slime Defenders to create a wall of slime, each individual slime block being 14 meters long, 5 thick, and 10 tall. I'm assuming you could figure out the exact shield dimensions from there?"
"Yes master! I'll get started immediately!"
We're lucky this is just some rich Elf's mercenary-hired fleet and not an actual military. In our current state, we'd be screwed.
Just then, a notification from Anivia holographically appears in front of me and I contact her ship, "Alright. I need you to use your healing ability solely on the Membros. Focus 60% of your power on that, and as much left over as possible on as many Tier 10 S-Rank Holy Smite spells as you can. I'll label each enemy I inflict with Cauterize spells into your ship's hologlass so you and your specialists can see."
"Yes Lord Darian!"
And thus, the battle begins.
