Chapter 6: Beginning of my training

I have a dream. I’m in black space, just floating. I can see everything like it was bright here, but everywhere I look there is just darkness. It’s so strange. I wonder where I am.

I don’t know how long I spent there. It feels like eternity but like it all happened in the blink of an eye. It’s so strange.

Something is happening. I can see so clearly in this place anymore. It’s like a haze was cast around me.

I can see someone appearing out of nowhere. He has black robe with a hood, black trousers, black boot and black white shirt. The robe is strange. There are 4 belts on it used to hold the robe around him without hindering his movement. Its strange outfit but so cool too.

I can’t see his face because of that hood, but I can see his smile. It’s filled with sorrow, loneliness and regret, but he still smiles with a bit of happiness. He looks at me, showing me that smile, and then just turns around and leaves.

*knock knock knock*

I’m woken up by a knocking. I remember that dream so clearly. It was really so strange.

Someone knocked once more.

“Just a minute.”

I get up and flex my muscles and go open the door. It’s Alice. I look at a clock and its just 7 am. She really must be an early bird. Something smells nice. It looks like she brought with her a breakfast. I tell her to come in and she complies.

She opens the door to the kitchen and places 2 boxes with probably food and comes back and starts to tidy bed.

“Why did you come here so early?”

“Today is your first day and so I wanted to make sure you are ready.”

She said this with a dazzling smile. She really is beautiful, but I don’t feel anything to her just a doubt. Something is fishy about her but all she does is sincere. It’s so strange.

Hell, whole today is strange.

“Thank you for your concern, but you really didn’t need to bother yourself. What’s more, it’s just 7am and you’re already here with a breakfast that means you had to wake up around 5 am to do this and yesterday you went out of here at 9 pm. You should take care of yourself more. I don’t want to see you with circles under your beautiful eyes or worse, sick.”

I really meant it, but what I meant by it was that it would be a pain to take care of things without her. She blushed again. I’m not player for god’s sake. I just tell what I really think or play with others when I want to tease them. Sigh.

“It’s ok, I don’t mind. Thank to you I could sleep through afternoon so I’m not sleepy.”

“I see, but really, take care of yourself. I’m worried.”

With a soft, almost inaudible voice she said.

“O-ok.”

I just smiled and she lowered her head, red as a tomato. I took her by the hand and went to the kitchen to eat with her. While we were eating I asked her a few questions.

“I would like to ask a few things. Is that ok?”

“Ofcourse.”

“First of all, hope much do I owe you for the food?”

“That would be 16 coppers.”

“You know, I was doing finances for my family store so I know this price is only for ingredients used for my meals. I asked you to make for yourself too, so those costs will be included in it and what’s more, where is you wage for making it.”

She looked at me astonished. Was it because of those finances part or because of the rest of the topic?

“I could not possibly ask for such a generosity.”

I looked at her with a firm gaze.

“This is not generosity. I asked you and I will keep my promises. I don’t want to hear anything else, just YES.”

She started to tremble slightly.

“Y-yes.”

I looked at her with a warm gaze. She stopped trembling.

“So with everything settle then I will give you 50 copper.”

She just said yes, probably fearful of me reproaching her.

“Don’t be like that, please. It hurts me.”

“I’m sorry.”

I patted her on the head and continued with conversation.

“So I will pay you in advance for one month worth of meals. It is 6 meals a day for one month so it will cost 22 silver and 50 coppers.”

I went for my black card and came back to Alice. I concentrated my mana into it the same way as with status magic and thought about 23 silvers. It appeared in a blue orb and I gave them to Alice.

“B-black card? H-how?”

“What do you mean, Alice?”

“Huuuuuuuuuh. You don’t know?”

“If I would know then I wouldn’t ask.”

“Ahem. Black card is given only to those that should be treated with a special care and so it gives immense privileges to those that have it. I don’t know all privileges but you will be treated like VIP no matter where you will tread.”

What that old bastard gave me? Something like that as a thanks? He just wanted to tease me. That old fucker. Well, no matter. It will be useful in the future.

“I see. It was a gift from headmaster for my test score.”

“That’s awesome! Only really promising students could get that, but one more thing. If you will meet someone with diamond crystal card, than don’t offend them. Those people are on level just below royalty.”

I nodded.

“Well, let’s stop with these things and continue. Can you come to campus grounds?”

“Yes, it’s quite normal for maids to accompany their masters.”

“That’s great then. When it will be time for lunch, please bring it to me and we will eat together. During that time just sleep here and do whatever you want. I don’t want to see you exhausted afterall.”

She looked at me, grateful for this.

“Most of my classes start at 9 am so you can take longer until you come wake me up. Oh and go to office and tell them I want you to get a spare key. So just use it whenever you want. It would be quite bothersome with just me having a key.”

“Ok, I will do that then.”

We finished our breakfast and tidied my room. I went to wash myself and get changed, but I still had time so I wanted to try little something.

“I mustn’t be disturbed so just do whatever you want but when it will be 8:40, tell me.”

“Ok.”

I sat cross-legged in the middle of the room. That’s right, I wanted to meditate, even though I never tried it. I closed my eyes and calmed myself and started to breath in a certain pattern. I never tried meditation but I know, what should I do. I know 2 types of meditation. Inner and outer.  I don’t know where I learned about them, I just know them. It’s so strange.

As I head my eyes close, I pictured my body as a black silhouette, surrounded by white aura you could say. I could hear my own heartbeat. With every thump I could see my blood vessels being slowly shown on that black silhouette. When it was done, I tried to feel that warm feeling in my chest I felt yesterday. I could feel it. Not automatically like yesterday but I could. I felt that hot feeling flowing through me and it started to appear on the silhouette too. Veins for blood were much more numerous than for mana. When I was done with this, I could feel a sting of pain. In the middle of the silhouette, where the warm feeling originated from, mana and blood veins concentrated like they were pulled by a magnet.

My mana core started to appear and mana and blood in both my veins started to move rapidly, flowing through the core and around it in case of blood veins. Then there was a shockwave from my mana core and a crystal appeared inside it. It was dark violet crystal surrounded by white and black light. That crystal, I could feel it was connected to my soul. Then that means that black and white light is my attribute? But I thought it was Chaos and Order? So why is it black and white? Noone should have dark and light attribute or else they will become monster to be killed. Than am I a monster? Like I care. I am who I am and will do what I want and who knows. It was stated as Chaos and Order so I will stick with it.

After this, flow started to subside and I opened my eyes, drenched in sweat. I could feel better than before. Like being reborned. I wonder what happened. This should be inner meditation to understand my own self. It was so strange.

I went to take a shower and when I was done I asked Alice how much time do I have left and she said 40 minutes. That was perfect. I wanted to try one more thing. I concentrated to use status magic.

I let status disappear and changed to my uniform. It’s perfect time to go to class. My first class is Basics of Void so it should be interesting.

“Alice, I think I will go already. Take care of yourself.”

“Bye bye, Ris”

And so I went my way.

On the road, nothing interesting happened, until I saw professor Irene acting strange so I followed her to a certain hut close to the forest. I peeked through the windows and what happened next shocked me. In a bright light, her form started to change. From her 30 year old look and 170 cm she shrunk to 145cm and looked like 11 year old girl. This would not shock me, oh no. What shocked me was a pair of cat ears on her head and a cat tail swinging from side to side. But that still was all. She looked incredibly lovely. You just have urge to touch those ears and never let go.

My foot slipped and she heard it

“Who’s there?!”

She used some kind of earth spell and caught my legs in a dirt and forced dirt to take me inside the hut. When she saw me, she was scared and lost to what to do. I looked directly t her and just said

“Professor Irene”

“I-I’m not professor Irene. I’m I’m her daughter, that’s right, her daughter.”

As if that would fool me.

“Professor Irene, can I touch those ears. I don’t think I can hold myself any longer.”

“Heh heh”

Is it so strange? I made myself clear of that urge.

“What do you mean touch. You pervert.”

Her magic loosed a little and I took my chance and got out of it and started to touch her ears. She started to moan a little until she got hold of herself.

“What are you doing?!”

“I had to do it or else I would go insane.”

I told her with a conviction of man going to war.

“Heeeee.”

“I satisfied this urge already so don’t worry. Anyway, why are you like this professor Irene? I thought you were 30 years old hag.”

“I’m not 30 years old hag. I’m just 27.”

And I was punched. I got up and looked at her again.

It was my turn to be astonished afterall. This cat beast loli is 27? No wonder she could not find a man.

I told that last part out loud.

“Who can’t find a man! I just did not find the one destined for me.”

Such clear excuse and with those fidgeting eyes it’s clearly a lie. But damn, she’s so cute. That urge is coming back. I don’t think I will be able to hold it.

I crouched on one knee and took her hand and looked directly into her clear brow eyes, her brown hair swaying in the wind.

“If you won’t find a man in the future, I will gladly marry you.”

She was blushing and were saying thing left and right, not knowing where her thought were. You probably did not expect that, right? Right?

“How could I possibly do that. You’re 17 years younger than me and I’m just and old hag in your eyes.”

I’m shocked. How can I think of her as old hag? I clearly think of her as loli, but let’s not tell her that or she will punch be again.

“How could you say something like that. Who cares what your age is. We can live for hundreds of years so there’s no meaning to it at all. And I most definitely do not think of you as old hag. Right now, in my eyes, you are the cutest cat girl in the world.”

“Really?”

“Really really.”

“I see, then I will take you on that offer, but only if I won’t find a man in the future.”

She’s embarrassed, so cute.

“And now go, you can’t be late for class.”

And I was kicked out. I got up, cleaned myself and slowly walked away.

Now that I think about it, I got engaged! What the fuck did I do?!!! I did not think clearly, those stupid, lovely, soft, squishy ears. What the hell am I thinking about! Calm down, it’s still not set in stone. And I can still run away in the future, gulp, I hope.

Maybe I really am player. But definitely NOT playboy.

I got my wits and slowly walked to the class. On the way I did not meet anyone. Looks like there is no one else, who took Void affinity in first years. Well, at least it will be better for me. No one will know about my abilities that way.

When I finally reached class, what awaited me was horror. When I opened the door, the one who waited for me was that black robed guy. Well, now I know why he had a black robe. Oh well, it will be fun but his look of letting him wait is really scary. He probably wants to reap my soul. Let’s just quickly sit down and hope he will calm down.

As I sat he started.

“Well then, looks like I have a student this year. I hope we will get along and don’t worry, I will take good care of you, the same as you took to get here in time.”

With his mad laughter I knew, that I was doomed.

Hi, took longer due to heat and I promised someone who chose Earth affinity that I will do something nice for him and so I chose Irene as Earth mage. Hope he enjoyed it and wanted to do some windows for you and finally start his training. The meditation started to change from what I wanted to write first, but it’s not bad. Now to find out why even blood vessels were attracted to mana core, but well, I will figure it out.
