The village of Borlowen is a new settlement in the foothills to the east. It was founded by Alfrich, a knight of the Highlord, and his wife Borlowen when they built an inn to serve travellers to the port town of Mormarth. In the forty years since, the village has become a lively crossroads. Painted on the reverse side of the wooden door in bold paint is this stanza:
