It can be hard getting away from a tough situation, and grabbing the car keys and going off on a trip wasn't always possible.
Thankfully for her, it was, and she was glad for it. She was finishing up with her college degree, and to that end, she had to thank her parents, who for all of their support, wanted to kick her out on her 21st birthday. What a lovely birthday gift.
She wasn't angry, she knew they'd been getting distant from her, and she didn't do anything about it. By now they barely talked at all, and when they said they wouldn't be able to come to come to her graduation ceremony, things got a little heated.
So she grabbed the 'opportunity' as she saw it, to get away as far away as she could. Filling her trusty old backpack with store bought supplies for hiking, she went to her car only to realize she hadn't actually grab said keys.
Going back home wasn't an option, but thankfully the power of money came to her salvation. For minor problems such as transportation it was almost always the perfect fix.
Thinking of her limited funds she hesitated about calling for a taxi, but the dilemma didn't last for long. Why did she work her ass off, working a part time job and studying if not for moments like these?
The driver looked at her expectantly as she stepped inside the car, leaving her back next to herself, "Where to miss?" in which she replied, "To the Grimrock woods, thanks."
The driver looked at her for a moment before asking for confirmation, "You sure about that lass? It's a fair distance from here and it's going to cost you."
Yeah, shaking her head, she knew it would haunt her spending that much for a taxi she didn't really have to take, but today she was determined, "Yeah, I'm sure." She said, trying not to think too much about it. The whole trip would cost her more than a week's worth of pay, but if it saved her mental state from where it was heading, it was money well spent.

The driver certainly seemed happy. His good mood might have been because she'd just sponsored him a trip, but it sure made her mood better. Money is money, it doesn't grow on trees, but you can certainly find it more common. At least that was the case in the city. She was tired working to get money. She was tired of merely surviving. Money was meant to be spent like this in the first place, and the realization eased her nerves.
The trip was quiet and before long she'd fallen asleep. Waking up, she found the car still moving, the sun being a fair bit higher than before. It must have been quite some time, though she didn't remember the trip being that long to make. That said, they must be close because the road was surrounded by nature and soon she could see the rest area of Grimrock woods. She was glad she'd started early, visiting this place when it was getting late wouldn't have been nearly as fun.
She yawned, stretching her arms before remembering it wasn't her parent's car and the man was a stranger. Slightly embarrassed, she turned to the driver, "What time is it?"
The man kept a steady speed, taking a moment before replying, "It's three in the morning. I saw your bag, so I assumed you are headed to the hiking trails which is a bit further than the entrance. We entered Grim woods about half an hour ago."
And with that, she relaxed further. She missed a lot of the beautiful scenery because she was asleep, but there was still time to enjoy the trip from the comfort of the car; or at least she thought that was the case before seeing the car stop before the familiar resting stop where the hiking trail begun.
"Thank you for the transportation, how much do I own?" She asked the driver as she got out of the car, dragging her heavy bag behind her and setting it on he shoulder.
After paying, the driver bid her farewell, and she was off.
"Good luck on your adventures." He said to her before leaving.
In the back of her mind, she couldn't help but think about how much she would have to pay for the return trip. There should be a bus that came infrequently from here to the her city but she wasn't sure, she would have to ask.
But for now, alone in the woods, she was without a care in the world.
