Prologue - Destined Encounter

Prologue - Destined Encounter

I used to be an ordinary man. I had ordinary hobbies that I supported with my ordinary position as a proud white collar worker in a small firm. I had ordinary parents and ordinary friends. I wish that I had an ordinary lover as well, but this is a mere fantasy of mine. I wonder whether I should sorry for myself or for my parents.

As I said, I used to be one until I awakened one day in a little girl’s body, somewhere within an utterly gigantic forest, filled with gargantuan monstrosities like a squirrel size of a grown mastiff. In the meantime, while I was trying to survive and find civilization, I found something interesting near the riverside.

I was overjoyed since generally there must be settlements near any source of water, or so I picked up from a book long time ago. I was proud of my good memory, even if I had an annoying tendency to remember only trivial things and such.

In short, I found a river, which was nice, since I was kind of thirsty at this point. I found something peculiar in my reflection. I found in this makeshift mirror a pretty girl with western features, ocean blue eyes and blond hair. In other words, a truly rare beauty. And yet, what attracted my attention was not this, but the form of my ears, or to be more specific, how pointy they were.

I muttered – “no way” – and touched them, sending a pulse of strong sensation across my body. I nearly fell because of how sudden this turn of events was. It looked like those ears are certainly sensitive. Oh, good to know, I guess.

As I said before, I had ordinary hobbies and I had ordinary fetishes as well. In particular, I always had a fetish for elves. I liked them elves very much, and this body of mine had all traits I loved in them. It was a body of my dreams, dressed in cute, elegant and – as I found later – very impractical clothes.

I simply concluded that I was inside the world of yet another reincarnation novel that turned out to be very popular these days. I reached this conclusion because of a number of obvious traits, such as this strange fauna I encountered later, some of which were monsters to grind into experience points, my unique appearance, which couldn’t possibly be achieved with modern science advancement, and a particular youth, crossing the distance of a few kilometers on foot with giant leaps.

I wonder if I simply repressed the memories of my death and meeting with a god, though. I really hope I did, because whoever did this to me, did a very poor job.

Other Side. Death Flag.

I am Vincent Norton, the current heir of a noble house that governs the nearby lands. In my whole life, I knew no troubles since all of my daily needs were taken care of by my personal servants and maids, while always being pampered by my noble parents.

In the future, I would surely become one of those worthless nobles that abuse their power and indulge in many vices like gluttony or lust. I would become an officer in royal army through familial ties and nepotism to receive a splendid salary, despite doing virtually nothing at all.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

At least, that’s what a person destined to become Vincent Norton would have done, if he was actually born. In his stead, I was reborn with the memories of my previous life and made it my mission not let a grim future like this ever happen.

In my previous life, I was a fan of a game known as the “Dragon’s War” from where the character Vincent came from. He was one of the bosses and a childhood bully of the main character, Alan Muller, who turned out to be the chosen hero that could seal the demon lord forever.

That is, until the sequel game came out, but this is another story altogether. You see, after his defeat at the hands of main character’s party, what awaited this excuse of a human being was life in a monastery, while his family’s numerous treasures were (stolen) used for the greater good by the hero and his followers.

In the end, he died as a lonely old man, while the general audience cheered, saying “serves him right” with a huge grin. I was among them, but now I want to cry! I don’t want to become a monk! I want to live an ordinary life! I want to have an ordinary family! I haven’t even a kissed girl yet!

And thus, I decided to diligently train both my body and mind, so I can crush those puny death flags. In the very end, I want to at least be able to outrun those meddling heroes. I also somehow managed to befriend someone I never expected to.

“Hey, Vincent, I’m hungry! How about we eat one of those boars we captured today! I’m sure father won’t notice a thing!”

Alan Muller. In short, he was an idiot. In other words, he was very pure-minded. He was born with a huge amount of power and natural talent for martial arts. As such, without a bully to keep him in check, he naturally evolved into a complete muscle head. I suppose, this is my fault.

“I told you to wait. I tell you I saw someone near the riverside!”

I reinforced my legs with magic power, letting me cross gigantic distances with a single step. It was a general purpose movement spell that I mastered a few years ago. And still, my heart was beating madly within my chest, since if my memory served me right, it was the time to meet her.

Marie Klaus.

She is the kind-hearted and gentle girl that had not even a speck of wickedness inside her heart. As your first companion, she was an irreplaceable party member that was beloved by literally everyone. Universally known as “best girl” among the fans, I too fell in love with this ideal girl. I also love elf girls very much.

It was the time for the faithful encounter, an event that would seal the future. It was…

“Hey, a black-haired boy with a really wicked look in his eyes over there! And you, a dumb-looking boy with red hair! I need your help!”

Shit.
