As death itself was charging at the elves, the organic creatures were either in a frozen state due to succumbing to their fears, or began moving erratically as they tried to flee, some of the organic mounts had even pushed their riders away on purpose so they could flee faster and accidentally injuring them in the process.
"F-F-FIRE!" Parum shouted.
Only forty of the three hundred elves, including Parum, shot their arrows at the skeletal figure as they are the only four elves whose mounts weren't trying to flee.
*Ding* *Ding* *Ding* *Ding*
The arrows bounce off the giant skeletal figure leaving not even a scratch on its body.
By the orders of Will it wasn't allowed to intentionally kill the elves but to force them to retreat, to show them just how unmatched they were.
Merely waving his hands The Hunger created strong gusts of wind that pushed the elves back several dozen feet away. Two of the elves hit their heads on trees and passed out. A few others had broken their limbs and bones. Most managed to land safely only sustaining small cuts and bruises.
However that wouldn't be enough to stop the elves. Some who had lost their bows and arrows decided to unsheath their swords and charged at the giant skeletal figure, others began throwing rocks at it.
The Hunger folded his arms across his chest and stood there not moving in the slightest. The rocks and arrows bounced off his body, one would think the elves would have already learned that their arrows do no damage.
Parum, with his sword on his hand, slashed at the giant skeleton's legs, only for the sword to hit nothing and go straight through its leg. His body began taking the form of a black smoke.
'Wait, what?' Parum couldn't process what had just happened.
One wouldn't be able to see it but The Hunger was smiling as it was looking down at Parum. Holding back his strength he kicked Parum away where two elves managed to break his fall sustaining only minor injuries.
Its true form had many hidden abilities that his weak form didn't have, one of his strongest abilities is where he can transform his body to black smoke at will, it is an ability where no physical attacks would ever damage it.
There was no need for it to use its ability on the elves as his bones were very tough, it merely showed how powerful it was.
It was also convenient for him to travel in tighter spaces. Not long ago when Will summoned it underground there wasn't enough space for his entire body to fit, so he had to transform his lower half to smoke to fit and not cause Will any problems.
Many elves kept charging but they couldn't do anything. The Hunger was having fun, kicking dirt towards them, making them fly by using strong gusts of wind, or flicking them.
Any elf who tried going around the Hunger to attack the kingdom, they would be pushed back by the Hunger with its insane speed.
After ten minutes the elves did a temporary retreat. They noticed that the Hunger didn't chase them so they took the time to rest and plan a strategy, recover, and rest.
No elves died. Most sustained minor injuries, only seven of them had their bones broken. The ones who broke their bones were sent back to heal their injuries.
All but two organic mounts fled.
"What… in the world… was that!" Parum was talking about the Hunger.
"Whatever it is, it's obviously just toying with us!" An elf named Pyrus said.
"Parum, I think we have to retreat." A half breed woman elf said.
The majority of the elves present were half breeds except two.
"No, Andrea, we can't retreat! Radix would've wanted us to avenge him."
"At this point we're going to have to be avenged if we keep going. Pyrus is right, that thing is toying with us, we might outnumber it 300 to 1 but we are far too outmatched. Not to mention that the hero didn't even bother sending its things (golems) at us. I mean look." She pointed to the sky.
Above them there are three helicopter Golems circling around them to keep an eye on them. Andrea noticed them not too long ago, but as they are right now there is no way to reach it or damage it.
After the one sided fight with the Hunger many of the elves, who were driven by hate, began to have second thoughts. They all would still like to avenge Radix and hurt the hero in any way they could as he had done to them, but they won't be able to do anything to the Sun kingdom if they're dead.
Will, who was still standing on top of his wall, asked his Golem, who was describing him the details of the fight.
"Do you think the elves learned their lesson?"
"I… I think so, Master, The Hunger did a great job to demoralize the elves. But whether they're going to give up and go home… I am not sure."
"Well I gave them a chance and showed them how outmatched they are. If they're still willing to attack the kingdom then they're the ones to blame. The Hunger, come back."
The Hunger disappeared in a puff of black smoke. Two of the elves who were tasked to keep an eye on him quickly ran back to the other elves.
"Once the elves are within firing distance shoot them down. I'm going to take a piss."
"Yes, Master."
Parum and Andrea were arguing on what is the correct call to make, to give up or continue fighting.
"Parum!" Two young half-breed elves rushed towards Parum. "The giant skeleton, it disappeared! It's gone."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive!"
Parum looked at the rest of the elves, many were relieved to hear that the terrifying monster was gone.
"This is perfect! I bet it can only be summoned for a short period of time."
"That doesn't make any sense, Parum. Why would it just stand there and do nothing for the past five minutes if it can only be summoned for what fifteen or twenty minutes?" Andrea said.
"Andrea, why the fuck would you come here if you're just going to go against everything I say?"
"That was before we realized that this is really just a suicide mission. That thing could've easily killed us but it didn't. I think this was a warning, a warning from the hero."
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Yeah… I don't think so. I believe that the hero doesn't want to kill us and he's too scared."
"Parum, are you a fucking idiot?" Andrea couldn't believe she would say that to a man she thought was amazing her whole life.
Many of the elves looked at Andrea in shock. Parum is someone who is highly respected by the half breeds.
Much like Radix, who was well liked by the elves, Parum was well liked by the half-elves.
"Parum, the hero killed Radix in front of dozens of elves, and he knew fully well that killing an elf in Lea's forest would mean facing the wrath of our Goddess. His head was torn off from the rest of his body."
"If that's true then why hasn't the hero killed us? What's stopping him from killing us?" Parum was grasping at straws by this point.
Parum is an intelligent elf, but he wasn't thinking clearly, he was acting on his emotions, and the elves who were thinking more clearly now could see that.
"Literally nothing is stopping him from killing us! I don't know why he is giving us a warning but we better take it."
Parum took a deep breath as he cupped his hands together.
"Fine. But I'm still going to kill the heroes' people. Those who want to give up attacking the hero throw away your weapons and go back home. Those who still want to join me and avenge Radix stand beside me."
*Clank* *Clank* *Clank*
Various elves threw their bows and swords at the ground in front of them.
Out of the 347 elves, 121 decided to give up. There were still a great number of people who wanted to follow Parum.
Andrea was still holding onto her weapons.
"I'm giving up as well but I'm taking back my weapons back with me, they were a gift from my dad."
"..."
The elves who threw away their weapons a few seconds ago recovered their weapons and left by walking back home in defeat. Even the two remaining organic mounts left.
"Everyone, let's go."
"Parum, how are we going to go over the hero's kingdom with no mounts?"
"We'll figure it out as we go."
"..."
Parum marched to the Sun kingdom with the remaining elves.
The majestic sight of the elven army of three hundred elves and three hundred organic creatures was nowhere to be seen anymore. All that is left is two hundred injured elves, no mounts, and carrying ordinary, weak weapons.
Parum knew he had been beaten, but he couldn't return back, his pride wouldn't let him, his desire to avenge Radix wouldn't let him go back.
As they got closer more and more elves began realizing how stupid, pointless, and suicidal it was to keep going.
With no mounts, how are they going to go over the stone wall?
The sight of the Sun kingdom was within their sights. The walls are much taller than they thought at first.
'I'm out.'
One elf ran back after dropping his weapons to gain more speed, as if he was afraid something would shoot him down if he didn't run fast enough.
Then another elf ran away, then ten elves, then fifty elves…
Will returned to see what he had missed.
"Have they retreated yet?" Will asked his Golem.
"Most of them have. The few remaining elves are already here."
"They're already here? Didn't I tell you to shoot them on sight?"
"As they got closer more elves began retreating, until all that was left was that." The Golem pointed down.
Will leaned over and looked down to see two elves. Parum drew out a knife from his hip and began carving a hole in the wall, with a tiny knife he could only carve out tiny pieces of stone..
"So, out of the three hundred elves, those two are all that are left? And one of them is… this is just pathetic."
"Parum! Look!" The only elf remaining by Parum's side, who is named Harv, pointed up. They could see someone was looking down on them.
Parum saw Will once, he was there when Will killed Radix after failing to imprison him.
The distance between them was quite far, still Parum could tell it was Will, and he was mad.
"Hero! DIE!!!" Parum reached for his enchanted bow, drew a single arrow and shot it at Will.
"THIS IS FOR RADIX!"
*Ding*
Will saw the arrow coming towards him, and he let him hit his shoulder.
"Impressive shot. Kill them."
Two Incredible Golems appeared behind the two elves and aimed their miniguns at them. Parum didn't pay them any attention as he was already going to shoot another arrow. Harv instinctively leaned against the wall in fear.
"Parum!"
*Ding*
Parum shot another arrow at Will only for it to bounce upon connecting with his dragon scale armor.
"PARUM! PARUM! PARUM!" Harv was shaking Parum with his hands.
"Shut up, Harv!"
*Bang* *Bang*
Their two bloodied bodies fell leaving a huge stain of blood on the wall.
"Do you want me to bring their bodies, Master?"
"Why?"
"To craft weapons like you did with the hero."
"Oh. I don't believe they carry much essence compared to dragons but you never know. Don't let anyone see you bringing their corpses. Also clean up the blood."
"Yes, Master. There are also no nearby elves, they have all retreated."
"Good. I think I did a good job here, I mean instead of having three hundred corpses of elves in my front yard, I managed to make it only two corpses. After you're finished cleaning and collecting the corpses, tell everyone it's now safe to leave."
Will teleported away to work on a Golem he believes will be able to help him with a problem he hopes will never come.
A day later would go by when the elves would return home safely, part of their safe return was thanks to their Goddess for protecting and guiding them along the way.
No one was more happy than Silvas and Grace to see their people return with only minor injuries. It didn't take long for the half-breed elves to realize that two elves were missing and were presumed dead.
The elves would tell everyone what they had faced, and that no other elf should ever attempt to attack the Sun kingdom.
The majority of the elves were still angry and wanted revenge against Will for killing Radix, but as they are right now they couldn't do anything to him, his people, or his kingdom.
Grace would soon heal from the mental trauma she had recently faced, after that she wouldn't dare to overestimate herself and attempt a solo mission to rescue her people.
But with the threat of the mountain dragon possibly making a move the elves would remain in their village for their own protection for an unknown period of time.
Meanwhile…
Will was taking advice from his Golem as he had trouble building the Golem he had in mind.
In front of him was a huge, incomplete, cylinder-shaped statue made of various metals such as copper, gold, silver, and iron. The inside of the cylinder-shaped statue was also filled with many metals.
The size itself could be compared to half a football field, and Will wasn't even close to being halfway done.
At first he had the idea of making a godzilla Golem as he had already started with the feet, but once he realized how difficult it would be he decided to make something more… simple.
The amount of materials needed to make the complete statue was astronomical, but with the enchantments on his tools, and the large number of Golems gathering materials for him 24/7 he believed he could make it happen, but he also believed it would bankrupt him.
"If I were to complete the Golem how many Golem cores would it take for you to move it?" Will showed his Golem a drawing of the Golem he has in mind.
Due to its size he couldn't make it using his {holographic platform} he had to build it piece by piece.
"The good news is, Master, it wouldn't require many Golem cores to properly operate such a huge Golem, I guess roughly about five or maybe even six High-tier Golem cores would be enough."
"Dude… that's still a lot of mana ores. Guess we can use the High-tier core I implanted on you to save costs. This is also going to set us back since I also need to make {Soverience} soon."
"Actually, Master, according to my calculations we recently began mining more mana ores than before, thanks to the mask you gifted me I found a large vein of mana ores."
"Seriously? That's good. How long do you think it'll take for us to make {Soverience} happen?"
Will ate a piece of toast that was topped with honey.
Since he had grown an abundance of wheat, his people could make bread. And thanks to the magical item he created that lets him produce an infinite amount of honey, Will and his people could freely enjoy eating honey.
"I did say it would take 500 days, but with the magical High-tier mana ore producing itself every hour, plus the huge vein of mana ores, I estimate 12 or 14 days maximum."
"I mean, that's way better, but I would like it if we finished {Sovereignty} in a week."
"Master, there are two more ways to speed up the process, creating more worker Golems is one, but that would require an insane number of Golems to reach our goal of seven days, most likely another thousand Golems, but I believe that would be a horrible move as they require mana ores, tons of metal for their bodies, and more resources for the enchanted steel pickaxes."
"Yeah, I am not doing that."
Will loves his worker Golems, but creating their bodies and pickaxes is time consuming.
Truth was he uses his {holographic platform} to create them instantly, but enchanting them is what took the most time.
"The second option is to make a trade with the Empire."
"The Empire… they do have a lot of resources but do they really have enough mana ores?"
"Why not ask the Empress for a trade like last time? It'll help speed up to reach your goal."
"Well most likely they want more 'infinity' weapons like last time. They don't cost much to make, aside from enchanting them, but giving them those weapons seems stupid because they could just use it on us."
Will was desperate for mana ores and the Empire had mana ores he needed, he doesn't regret trading with them as the mana ores he got from them is the reason his kingdom and Golems exist.
"It's up to you, Master. But I believe trading with them is a good idea."
"How? How is giving them powerful weapons a good idea-ohhhhhhh… I see what I can do."
The Golem nodded, if he could smile he would.
Taking the last bite of his toast with honey, Will teleported back to his room to find a communication stone with a chef's hat.
At the same time, the Empress, Valerie, is in a room with several people. She was carefully planning out something with the people she trusted most.
"In exactly eight days we will move out and strike them! As long as we attack them on that day victory is guaranteed." Valerie said seriously.
"We understand, Empress." An old man spoke out, he is Donald, a general of the Empire. "We trust you as we already attempted it once before a couple of months ago. But how can you be sure 'he' won't be a problem?"
At that time a communication stone lit up the room that read 'I need to ask you something about the mana ores' Valerie's eyes shone the moment she saw who it was.
"Hold on a second, general, I've been waiting for this for weeks."
"Of course, Empress. Take your time."
Valerie left the room. She entered her room so no one could see what she was about to write.
{Will, it's been a while. What do you want to know?}
{How many mana ores do you have?}
Valerie smiled as she had expected this answer for a while. She took out a chart from her desk, it was a chart that detailed everything about the mana ores they have.
There was even a chart about the anti-hero metal in case Will wanted to trade for them like last time.
{In total I have 25,349 low-tier mana ores, 8,967 mid-tier mana ores, and 3 advanced-tier mana ores}
Will's eyes were so wide open that his eyeballs could fall out of his sockets.
{Hold on, I need to make sure of something}
WIthout waiting for a response Will ran to his Golem to make a quick calculation since he himself cannot make such a 'complex' calculation.
"Golem, if I were to have 25,000 mana ores converted to High-tier mana ores, how many would it be?"
"Are you using low-tier mana ores to convert them to High-tier mana ores?"
"Yes."
"Twenty-five, Master."
"Uh, I thought it would be more. How about if we convert almost 9,000 mid-tier mana ores to High-tier mana ores?"
"90, Master."
"So it's 115 High-tier mana ores. If we were to receive that many today, how many days would it take to reach our goal then?"
"7-9 days, Master."
"That's very good. Thanks!"
Will quickly responded back to Valerie.
{How many weapons do I need to give you for all the mana ores you have?}
Valerie's mouth was slightly open to see his response. She didn't expect him to want all of it, maybe a couple hundred at most.
{Well if I were to exchange them for your weapons I wouldn't have enough space to store them. Instead I want to ask your for two favors}
'Two favors? I don't think it'll be cheap but I have to get those mana ores.'
{What do you want?}
{First is quite simple: supply me with 300 assault rifles with the infinity enchantment}
'Okay, it's not that expensive but that'll take me a few hours to enchant, luckily it's just one enchant for each weapon unlike my pickaxes and Golems.'
{And lastly: I want to borrow your 'Golems' for a day, eight days from now}
'Wait, what?'
