[Venancio]
Yonne thinks, but after a second; she sighs. – "Forget the trade." Yonne said, while smiling.
"As for Summoning Abilities, they're pretty difficult to learn, but it's still just [Mana Manipulation], however I'm pretty tired though so I can't demonstrate it. But if you want to know how it works" - Yonne said, while she's trying to fix her hair. - "It is splitting a good amount of your Mana inside your body and then allowing it to cultivate enough that it develops its own sentience, that's my own understanding of it."
"Interesting" I said - That is it? I would have expected more complex steps to do that, but still. Maybe it IS difficult to execute. – "Mind if I give it a try?" I spoke.
"Mm-hmm" Yonne mumbles, while leaning on the railing and looking at me.
Some of the people training in the field stopped; and started to watch me from afar.
"Huh, some people are turning heads towards us" I said to Yonne.
"Yeah, Casters are a sight for us humans. Since we're not really a race of amazing Casters." Yonne said.
"Is that so?" I said to Yonne – I do remember Ly saying that this village is secluded.
"Ly mentioned that human villages are secluded, why is that?" I asked Yonne.
"Its because humans are not the strongest race, we are mediocre at almost anything, the only thing we have going for us is numbers probably, but even with that we cannot really establish ourselves as a dominating factor. Don't get me wrong, some humans can excel such as yourself, but it is very rare. Hence the seclusion. Although, not every human settlement is secluded, there's still cities and towns that are heavily populated by humans." Yonne said, while staring deep into my eyes.
There is that stare again, weirdo – "Not the strongest race? Are there even any?" I asked.
"Mm-hmm, Divines, William. So many questions" Yonne said, while smirking – "If you want a detailed answer, there's books in my workshop. But to answer your question; [Gonduars] and [Seafolk] are the most dominating race."
"Gonduars? I've also heard that from Ly, What even are they?" I asked Yonne, while stretching.
"They're elves, basically."
Elves?! Like nature-loving elves? this world has elves? HOLY! I need to see them. – "Interesting, sorry for asking you so many questions Yonne" I said to Yonne, while chuckling awkwardly - "Anyway, I really want to try the Golem Ability." I walked away from the railing of the dugout, but still close enough to Yonne that we could still talk to each other.
"Alright, so it's separating a portion of your mana, then allowing it to cultivate" I said, while lifting my right arm and opening my palm; then aiming it on the ground - What is cultivate though, maybe I need to imagine the mana becoming alive then serving me; yeah, yeah. Let us try that.
The people that are looking from afar is still watching me
I exhale and try to focus my mind into Summoning a Golem - A portion of your Mana, right? So, my [A.P] right now is [34.2%]. I will try allocating [8.0 %] of my [A.P] into Summoning this Golem - Suddenly, while I was thinking that; a purple haze suddenly appears around my body, the haze is thicker than that of Yonne's - After that, allow the separated [8.0 %] to develop its own sentience. Then follow through; by appearing at the place, I am aiming my palm at. - [Summon: Golem]!
Suddenly the thick purple haze moved towards the ground that I am aiming at. After the haze hits the ground, it expands into a tall and spiraling thick purple mist. After the mist disperse a tall-lanky, dark-purple humanoid Golem appeared in front of me; it has 2 bright-white dots in its face, which I think is the eye. But it has no mouth nor other facial features, it has 4 limbs; and its body is much more solid, compared to Yonne's Golem.
"Holy SHIT!" I exclaimed – I am 5'11 and this thing is taller than me. I'm guessing 6'0 or 6'2.
Yonne's jaw dropped – "A-a [First Class] Golem" Yonne said, while stumbling with her words.
The people that were watching me, were astonished; a faint gasp, can be heard from where I was standing.
Suddenly a voice echoes in my mind – "How, can I serve you, Master?" The voice has a sort of chilling tone. The Golem is staring at me. – COOL! What command should I give it though, um; Run around the field.
The Golem nods, then runs. The Golem ran starting from the corner to the field, all the while the people were watching the Golem run throughout the field.
Yonne clears her throat – "Alright, that's enough for today-" Yonne said, then suddenly, (3) people, who I assume are the guards of this village approach us.
"Good morning, Elder Caster. Zvetza, the Chief wants to have a word with the outsider. Would you mind if we take the outsider?" said by one of the guards.
Yonne looks at me and smiles, then she said at the guards – "Of course, but I won't be attending, I need to go back to my workshop."
Ninuu pops up – "Looks like you got called to the principal's office, Venny." Ninuu said, then giggles
Then one of the guards looks at me – "Are you willing to come with us, Sir?" The guard asks.
"Sure, why not? But let me just get my cloak" I said to the guards, then I walked back inside the dugout and picked up my hoodie. – It's not like a no is an answer, but I wish Yonne were coming. - While putting my hoodie on, I decided to check If I can communicate with my Golem.
Golem? - The Golem's voice pops up in my mind – "Master?" The Golem said. – It seems we can communicate from afar. But nothing for now. – "Alright, Master" The Golem said.
After putting my hoodie on, I got outside of the dugout and talked to the guards - "Alright, I am done. Lead the way"
"Of course." The guards said ushered me to follow them, and I did
I look at Yonne – "Can I still come back at the workshop later?" I ask Yonne.
Yonne walked towards me and gave me a key – "Sure, here." She said, then went on her way.
"Thank you." I said to Yonne, and I looked at the guards – "Lead the way boys." – Hahaha.
Me and Yonne parted ways; she went back to the workshop, while I walked with the guards
"You guys have any idea, why the Chief wants to speak with me?" I asked the guards while we were walking.
"The Chief just wants to have a word with you, since you ARE an outsider." The female guard says.
"Ohhh, alright. That makes sense" I said, and we continue to walk. But after a minute – "Sooo, what are you guys really? Guards or something?" I ask.
The female guard sighs and says – "We're the village's vanguard."
"Vanguard huh? I saw a similar one at the forest and near the walls, why do they wear masks and you guys don't?" I ask the female guard, then smiled at her, while still walking.
The female guard looks at me and squints her eyes – "They just wear them to conceal their identity."
Really? That is probably not all of it – "Right, just that?" I asked her.
"The masks also have the mark of the village, that is one. And the masks are also packed with [Gauging Stone]. That's pretty much it." She spoke.
Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.
Masks with [Gauging Stones]? That's awesome, [Gauging Stones] are use to see or detect mana... so they're using like a Geiger counter then. – "Is that so?" I said to her, and we continue to walk for a while
We finally arrived at what I assume is the Chief's meeting place. The place is big and made with stones just like the houses in the village. The guards at the entrance wore a different armor, which I assume are made out of iron, different from my escorts and the vanguards in the forest.
As we walk past them, I go – "Nice outfits" - Hahaha!
The guards went and said – "Thank you." Then both nods.
I meant that sarcastically, now I feel like a dick. That "Thank you" was pretty genuine.
We enter the Chief's place, the outside wall of this building is stone, but they layered the inside with a wood of some sort; making it look beautiful on the inside. There are some hallways, but the escorts insist that I follow them to the main room. This building is not that big, to be honest; while walking through the hallway, I can count 3 other rooms, excluding the main room on the ground floor, and a stair that leads to the 2nd floor.
Once we got to the main room, one of my escorts knocks – "Chief, the outsider is here."
A voice exclaimed from the room – "Let him in then!"
I got inside the room, but the escorts stayed outside.
Once I got inside the room, I see a bulky man sitting behind a desk at the other side of the room, he is wearing a very noticeable brown-leather vest, with fur linings on the shoulder and neck. He was bald, and had a short black-beard.
"HELLO! So, you're the outsider that everyone has been talking about, eh?" The bulky man stands up from the desk and walks towards me, then shakes my hand – "Good to finally meet you lad. I'm the Chief of this village, the name is Oren Bulwark." The bulky man said with both an intimidating and welcoming smile. This man's face has some battle scars, in his left cheek and nose bridge; his hand also has some scars.
This is a behemoth of a man! He's completely towering over me, somewhere 6'5, not to mention that his physique blows most body builders out of the water – Without hesitation I shook Oren's hand strongly and smiled back – "Likewise, the name is William Mendoza."
"Come, sit down with me, let's talk." Oren said, while ushering me to follow him to a sofa. I followed him, but sat across on another armchair – "So! What made you come to our village eh?" Oren said.
"To be frank, I don't know really, your scout Ly, found me sleeping in your forest. And I can't remember anything before I met her." I said to Oren.
Oren thinks for a second, then nods – "Right, no memory at all?" Oren asks. – "But I've heard that you talked to old Yonne, right? What did she say?"
"Old?" I ask Oren.
"Yeah, she's probably in her 50s by now. BWAHAHAH!" Oren said, then laughed.
WHAT?! She looked like she was in her late 20s – "Is that so? But to answer your question; yeah, I've asked Yonne about it, but she doesn't have the answer also." I said to Oren.
Suddenly, someone knocks on the door.
"That must be the food, Come in!" Oren shouted.
A female comes in; she is wearing a garb that is a bit fancier than what I have seen so far – "The food that you ordered are here, Chief." – Suddenly 4 little golems walk into the room carrying a tray of food.
Goddamn that is cute as hell! They look like Yonne's Golems.
The golem went to the coffee table and put down the tray of food, bows then walked towards the door and outside. – "Enjoy!" The maid said, smiles then left.
"Dig in!" Oren exclaimed, then picks a roasted meat from the tray and starts to eat – "Don't be shy, William. Eat as well" Oren said.
Hehe don't mind if I do then – I pick up a tray of food and starts munching – "I have to say, Oren. You know how to run your village." I said, while chewing.
"Thanks! This village is my heart and soul, the people like me and trust me enough for them to want me as a leader. I would never betray that trust and love." Oren said, while eating.
I like this guy, but I should also get some information – "How long have you been the Chief of this village then?" I ask Oren.
"Must've been 30 something years ago when I was appointed Chief. I still remember that day, BWAHAHA! I was still a bit of a hot head, but now I've simmered down, I guess marriage really makes you a mellower person, WAHAHA!" Oren said, while chewing and drinking
30 years ago?! What the hell! Just how old are these people – "HAHAHA! Your wife must be the strongest woman in the village to tame a guy like you!" I said, while eating
"BWAHAHA! I have two wives, but yes, they're very fiery!" Oren said, then finished his food quickly – "AHHH! That was good food, I'll tell ya that." – Oren, takes something out of his coat – "You don't mind me smoking right?" Oren asks.
Smoke? Like cigarette? I need one, I have not had one since I got here – "You got some to share?" I finish my food and ask Oren.
"Of course!" Oren stands up, and walks towards his desk, and digs through it – "I have some spare smoke pipes in here." – Oren said, then hands me a smoking pipe – "Here!" – Oren sits down again and puts some which I assume is tobacco in the pipe, and grabs the candle on the coffee table, and lights his pipe.
I decided to do the same and smoke – Ahhh! Smoking always felt great after eating, ever since I got my lungs replaced by a [Synthetic Lungs], smoking became 2nd nature to me, and without worry of cancer too. Still, smoking pipes look vintage and beautiful. I still prefer the cigarette. I wonder if I can make that here.
Me and Oren decided to talk more after eating, we got along well, and we did not even notice that we had been talking for a long time.
"BWAHAHAHA!" Me and Oren laughs
Oren puts down his pipe, then scratches his nose.
"You know what! You are good company, William. If you don't have anywhere to go, you're welcome to stay in the village." Oren said.
"As a man with nowhere to go! I will take that offer." I said, then I blew a puff of smoke
"BAHAHA! Good, good!" Oren exclaimed
Until a knock on the door surprises us.
This is great, I haven't had a good laugh since yesterday. I've always liked talking to people.
"Come in, come in!" Oren shouted at the door.
Suddenly, a maid hurries to get in – "CHIEF! One of your wives is here!" The maid said nervously.
"Huh? Why?" Oren said, then stands up to look outside the window – "What time is it- OH NO!" Oren said surprised.
"Oooo, you are in trouble. HAHAHA!" I said, while snickering
Suddenly a well-built lady comes through the door; she is wearing a fancy blue garb, and has a long dark red hair, brown eyes and is irritated for one – "OREN! It is almost dinner, what are you still doing here?" She asks.
"Uh, Tyra, I'm sorry. Hahaha" Oren said, while laughing awkwardly – "It's just that, the outsider and I got to talking and we just got distracted." Oren said to the lady.
So, Tyra huh? this looks hilarious but wholesome; it looks like a healthy relationship – I watch them as I smoke.
Oren and Tyra talk and after that, Oren turns to me and speaks.
"Anyway, I can't stay here, William. I got to head home. This is it for today" Oren smiled and reached to shake my hand.
I stand up, and shake his hand – "Thank you, Oren. Today was great." I said to Oren.
Oren nods, and leaves with Tyra. I was left in the room alone.
"Oh?" – I notice the box of tobaccos on the coffee table – Oren must have forgotten to take them back home due to him and Tyra talking. Hehehe, he would not mind if I took some home.
I decided to swipe the whole box of tobacco and put them inside my hoodie. Then I stand up and stretch – "Mmm AH! That was good company, now let's see" I said, then decided to look around the room.
I look outside the window of this room.
"Huh, it's beginning to get dark now" I said then remembered something – "WAIT!" I exclaimed – Golem? Are you there, buddy?
The golem's echoing voice comes again – "Yes Master, I am still here"
Where? – "I am in Daelyonne's workshop" The golem said – What? How? Do you know where that is? – "This Daelyonne lady talked to me after I finished running, and I recognized her from your memory. She told me that I should follow her back to the workshop." The golem said.
That's... convenient, anyway, I'll see ya back there, buddy. And stop calling me Master. Sir is good. – "Alright, Sir" – Nice, haha!
While looking around the room, I decided to investigate Oren's desk and rummage in the drawers; a book is in here, and I decided to open it – "Weird, I can completely understand the words that's being said here." I spoke
It seems this book is about the surroundings of this village. – I flipped through the pages. – Nothing interesting – I put the book back and stopped rummaging Oren's desk.
"There's nothing here that's interesting enough for me to take, maybe I'll head back to the workshop." I said, then walked towards the door.
Once I left Oren's room, the escorts that were supposed to be here, were gone. I assume they left. I decided to look around the hallway, while browsing this floor. I noticed a room labeled; 'Storage'. Reading it gave me a boost of excitement.
Storage huh? Let's see if there's something here – I decided to give a light knock on the door, loud enough to be heard if someone is inside, but quiet enough that the others from outside the room will not be able to hear it. – No one seems to be inside, hehe.
I peeked inside the storage room. The room is well-decorated, and it is illuminated by a chandelier; but what caught my attention was the assortment of items, weapons, but most importantly, CLOTHES. Not a lot, but there is some here that looks like eye candy for anyone, especially me.
Damn! This is SOME room – I continue to observe the room from the outside, then suddenly a voice appears.
"Excuse me, Sir, what are you doing?" A female voice said and tapped my back.
"JEESU-!" I yelped out of shock, but also shocked the maid with me.
"Oh, ha-ha, I'm sorry. I was just looking around" I said to the maid, while laughing nervously
"Oh, that's alright. But it's almost dark now, you can visit tomorrow." The maid said, then gestured me to the front-door.
"Alright, ha-ha. Sorry about that" I said, then walked to the front door. I turned back to the maid – "Sorry about that really."
"No need to apologize, Sir." The maid said, then smiled.
I exited the Chief's Office. It really is night now, the streets of this village are illuminated by streetlights, and the houses that still have its light on. As I walk around the village, I keep looking at everything that is even mildly interesting, such as weird trees, scrubs, animals. Suddenly, a signboard that says 'Tailor' is hanging on the side of this 2 story-building. This building is not the most appealing, just like the common houses in the village; It is square, made of stone, windows, and a roof. But the signboard might say otherwise.
"Is that some sort of clothing shop?" Eh, I got nothing else to do, might as well check that out.
