Infection

Colonel Mires, a wiry man short in stature and was bald on top of his crown with gray hairs around the side of his head, was furious when the soldiers brought Major Alecsianna Morganson to him, bruised and battered. His anger was not only directed at her attackers, but at himself for not being able to protect her. If they had dared to lay a hand on her in any other way, there would be hell to pay.

Running a body scan over her, he searched for any further signs of harm. Sighing in relief when he found none.

As Colonel Mires looked over Major Morganson's injuries, he couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt wash over him. He knew that as a cyborg slave, he was just as much a victim of the General's manipulation as Aleck was. But he also knew that he had a responsibility to keep her safe and do whatever it takes to protect her.

It wasn't easy being in the presence of the General, who seemed to take great pleasure in instilling fear and pain in those around him. Because of those stupid cyborg codes Colonel Mires had no choice but to carry out the General's twisted desires.

He gritted his teeth and forced himself to act like a depraved monster in front of the General, even though every fiber of his being rebelled against it. But he couldn't let the General see any hint of sympathy or compassion towards Aleck or anyone else on the ship. It was the only way to ensure that the General didn’t personally touch Aleck.

He owed Alecks parents that much. He could at least do everything in his limited power to protect Aleck. If he couldn’t manipulate a scum bag like the General he didn’t deserve his doctorates in psychology. The things he had to do to keep the General convinced of his depravity were horrible enough. Guilt washed over him. He pushed it back. He was a cyborg slave like the rest he had little freedom and little choice.

For now, all they could do was survive under the cruel rule of the General and hope for an opportunity to escape. But until then, Colonel Mires would do everything in his power to keep them both alive and unharmed.

As Colonel Mires escorted Major Morganson to their shared room, he couldn't help but feel a heavy weight on his conscience. He knew what was expected of them behind closed doors and it sickened him to the core.

He wasn't surprised when Aleck headed straight for the bathroom upon entering their room. She knew the routine all too well. She knew that in order to survive under the General's rule, they had to continue this farce of abuse and manipulation.

So she did what she had to do to convince the medics when they examined her that she was being abused. But they were slaves themselves and unlikely to report the combination of dye, makeup, and self-inflicted wounds that was meant to mimic the supposed abuse at the hands of the Colonel. She understood that if the General found out they were deceiving him, he would not hesitate to inflict unimaginable pain on both of them.

As Aleck cleaned herself up in the bathroom, Colonel Mires sat on the edge of their bed and rubbed his temple in frustration. He hated this part of their life – pretending to be something they weren't just to survive.

But he also knew that there was no other way out for them at the moment. They were both cyborg slaves, controlled by implanted codes in their brains which forced them to obey the General's every command.

Colonel Mires sat at his desk, staring at the interactive wall screen in front of him. The news reports were scrolling by, each one detailing the current state of the war. He could feel a headache coming on as he scanned through the never-ending stream of violence and destruction.

He heard the bathroom door open behind him and turned to see Aleck emerging. She was wearing a dull gray military towel robe, her wet hair clinging to her face. She wrung out her hair and took a seat across from Colonel Mires.

"I suppose it was an impossible dream to ever think I'd be free of war," she said with a tired sigh.

Colonel Mires nodded in agreement. They both knew that their lives were forever intertwined with conflict and bloodshed. As cyborg slaves, they were nothing more than weapons for their masters to use in their never-ending battles.

But what surprised Colonel Mires was when Aleck got up from her seat and walked towards him. He tensed up, unsure of what she was about to do. Then, to his complete surprise, she hugged him tightly.

"It's an impossible dream," she whispered in his ear before pulling away.

The colonel was taken aback by her actions. Showing guanine affection could be dangerous if the general decided to spy on them. But before he could dwell on it any further, the instructions on how the virus worked popped up on his screen and disappeared.

“It was an impossible dream to think we’d ever be free from the general.” Colonel Mires answered as he glanced at the clock, two minutes. Not much, but enough to allow him to hug Aleck with a genuine fatherly hug he could not give her before.

As the timer on his screen ticked down to the last ten seconds, Colonel Mires whispered into Aleck's ear, "Thank you. We have hope now."

Aleck nodded and pulled away from him, wiping away a tear from her cheek. She put a finger to her lips, signaling that their time was up and they needed to resume their act.

Colonel Mires sat in his office, staring at the blank screen in front of him. It had been three days since he and Aleck had shared that brief moment of hope and affection. Since then, they had both been acting as if nothing had happened, going about their duties as loyal cyborg slaves to the general.

But inside, Colonel Mires was seething with anger and determination. He couldn't wait for the day when they would no longer be under the control of the general. And he knew just who he wanted by his side when that day came.

The Azrianger, Markus, a fellow cyborg slave who had always been outspoken against the General. He was fierce and determined, with a rebellious streak that made him dangerous.

The colonel remembered one particular incident where Azrianger had stood up against the general's orders and refused to carry out a mission that involved targeting innocent civilians. The Generel used his cyborg codes to force him to commit the dastardly deed anyway and then Severely punished Markus for it.

From that moment on, Colonel Mires knew that if anyone could help them break free from their chains, it would be the Azrianger super soldier.

The colonel let out a sigh as he turned back to his screen, putting on his stoic mask once again. But inside, he was counting down the seconds until they could finally be free.

Markus stood in front of the general, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. The cyborg codes that controlled him prevented him from making a move against his oppressor, but it didn't stop the rage inside him from boiling over. How he longed to have his blades, so he could stick them through the murderous dark one's breast.

The general smirked at Markus, enjoying the sight of the rebellious Azrianger being held back by his own programming. "You see what happens when you defy me, Markus? I control your every move. Your Precious Azrianger super soldier genes are nothing compared to my power."

Markus gritted his teeth in response, refusing to give the general the satisfaction of a reaction. He knew he had to bide his time and wait for the right moment to strike back.

Colonel Mires stood stiffly at attention, a faithful lap dog to the tyrannical General. Markus clenched his fists and fought the urge to spit at them both. But thanks to the implanted Vandarian cyborg codes in his brain, he could only stand there and glare in silence. He wasn't sure about Colonel Mires - was he sly as a fox or just as venomous as the General? The General's twisted pleasure in causing suffering made Markus sick. "Teach him a lesson, Colonel," the General commanded eagerly, a sinister gleam in his eye.

As Colonel Mires approached, he grabbed Markus by his long blond hair and delivered a hard punch to his stomach, causing him to double over in pain. "It's an impossible dream for you to rebel," he sneered, forcing Markus' head down and whispering in his ear. "Learn to act." Despite the agony coursing through his body, Markus couldn't contain a small smile of delight as the virus he had planted in their systems started to take effect. So Colonel Mires was indeed sly as a fox. It wouldn't be long now before he could exact revenge on the monster disguised in Vandarian clothing, the General. He gritted his teeth and endured the torture stoically, already plotting who else he could recruit for their rebellion.

As the sun set and the house grew quiet, Ben crept towards Aleck's brothers' window. His broken ribs (from holding Jareth back the night before) throbbed as he crouched low to avoid being seen. He strained to hear any movement inside before carefully opening the well-oiled window. The room was dimly lit by a nightlight, casting shadows on the homemade oak bunk beds where the twins slept.

Ben's hands shook as he pulled out a small bag filled with tools and a chip containing the Impossible Dream virus. Slowly and silently, he inserted the virus into each of the boys' legs while murmuring a prayer under his breath. Suddenly, the curtains rustled, and Ben froze in fear. But as he listened closely, he realized it was just the breeze from the open window.

With one last glance around the room, Ben whispered "Creator help me free them" before tiptoeing back to the window. The twins stirred in their sleep as they felt the effects of the virus take hold, their green eyes opened at the same time. Without hesitation, they read the instructions and quietly thanked Ben.

"Leave quickly now," they whispered in unison as they warned Ben of the impending danger. Ben nodded and shot up another quick prayer as he turned to leave. He prayed that the twins would be wise enough to know how to use the tool he gave them so they could escape being used as assassins for their controller's cruel purposes.

Ben carefully climbed back out of the window, suppressing a grunt of pain as his poorly bandaged chest scraped against the edge. Odette had done her best to treat him in her father's makeshift medical office, but she was just a young girl trying to mend broken bones. However, there was no other option. It was too risky for their families to know the truth.

————————————————————————-

The twins used their innate twin telepathy, knowing that no controller could tap into it. They began to devise a plan in secret.

"We could end this all if we knew who was controlling us," Shem communicated mentally.

"But if we use the virus to disobey, they will detect the lack of video feed and it could backfire," replied his brother.

"This program is truly genius though. I wonder if our friend Ben could create a fake video feed for us. Then it would be quite useful," mused Shem, rolling over on his side.

"Yes, he's capable of it. We'll have to speak to him soon, though it won't be easy for him. Our only option may be to bully him so the controllers don’t target him," stated Shem with a sense of determination.

"I know, but once he fixes the video feed, we won't need to resort to such methods. And Ben is smart and brave; he'll understand and endure it," reassured Shem with a nod. "We should try to get some sleep before the controller contacts us." With that, they both turned over and drifted off into restless slumber, holding onto a glimmer of hope in their hearts.

Alexia let out a soft moan in her sleep. She had been trying for an entire week to connect with her twin sister's mind, but all her attempts had failed. However, this time, as she drifted off to sleep, she finally succeeded. Suddenly, she found herself standing inside her sister's mind, only able to observe and unable to react. She watched as her sister entered a room and encountered a man who was beating a soldier. In a bold move, her sister grabbed the man's hand and stopped the brutal blows. With a determined look in her eyes, she drew on the power within her mind and spoke to the man, commanding him to forget about the injured soldier who could barely crawl from the room. Then, without hesitation, she lay down and took the rest of the beating for the defenseless soldier.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

A blood-curling shriek echoed through her mind, emanating from the same source of power that Aleck had been using to control the soldiers' tormentor. In that moment, Alexia realized the horrifying truth: the power Aleck was drawing upon unknowingly belonged to Jareth. She saw Jareth screaming in madness and desperation as he tried to break through an invisible barrier that kept him from reaching Aleck's tormentor. Gasping, Alexia woke up abruptly from her sleep. It finally clicked why Jareth had been absent from school for the week. And now she knew she had to help her sister’s friend Jareth.

Alexia paced back and forth in her room, her mind racing with worry and anxiety. Her uncle had taken up an extra shift at the local power plant to make some extra money for the farm, leaving her alone with Kara, her new baby cousin. Her aunt had been up half the night with the crying infant.

Aidan, her cousin, was out of town for a school championship event and wouldn't be back until the next day. And unfortunately, she couldn't turn to any of her friends for help because they were… they were… Alexia flinched. They where honestly all toxic.

Unable to contain her frustration any longer, Alexia stormed over to Aleck's old cell phone and picked it up. Using the passcode she seen her sister use she opened up the contacts menu. She hesitated for a moment before dialing Ben and Odette's numbers. However, after several rings, neither of them picked up their phones. Frustrated tears welled up in Alexia's eyes as she left a desperate message.

Jareth needed help. And he needed it now. Alexia swallowed her fears and grabbed her rain gear, determined to brave the storm to reach him. She pulled on her raincoat and waterproof boots, making sure she had her cell phone. Taking a deep breath, she stepped out into the pouring rain and started running towards the Rillian ambassador's mansion.

As she ran up the mountain road shivering from the cold rain, Alexia's mind raced with worry for Jareth. She hoped she wasn't too late to help him. She didn’t know how to explain what she felt coming from him mind in the dream except to describe it as a terrifying madness that he was trapped in.

Barred gates with fancy curves and swirls loomed before her as she reached the mansion. Gasping for breath, Alexia buzzed at the buzzer desperately screaming for someone to please open up. But there was no response. Panic rising within her, she pushed hard against the gates and fell through into the mud in surprise.

They had never been sealed shut to begin with. She got up and ran into the mansion at a dead sprint.

She ran from room to room, calling out Jareth's name and hoping he would hear her desperate pleas for help. But all she found were empty rooms and silence. This was a mansion where was the hired help?

At last as she turned a corner, a putrid smell hit her like a wave and she couldn't help but gag.

Alexia followed the smell, trying not to breathe in too deeply. As she got closer, the stench grew stronger and she had to cover her nose with her hand. Finally, she reached a closed door and hesitated before pushing it open.

The sight that greeted her made her stomach turn. Jareth sat in a corner of the small room, covered in his own excrement and filth. He was thin and frail, with patches of hair ripped out of his head. And as he stared vacantly into space, Alexia could see the toll that his madness had taken on him.

Tears welled up in Alexia's eyes as she rushed over to Jareth's side, ignoring the smell and mess around them. She gently took his hand in hers and tried to get him to look at her.

"Jareth," she said softly. "It's me, Alexia. I'm here to help you."

But there was no response from Jareth. He just continued staring into space with vacant eyes.

Alexia knew that she needed help right away if there was any chance of saving Jareth. With shaking hands, she reached for her cell phone and dialed the emergency number at her uncle's work.

——————————————————————————

Uncle Donny frowned with concern as he got off the phone with his niece. He explained to his night supervisor he had a family emergency, who understandably gave him leave. Luckily the mansion was only about five miles from the power station so he was able to get there quickly through the pouring rain. His niece had run a long way in the dark to reach the mansion. It was two miles up that mountain from the house in this cold miserable rain. His niece was showing, at last, some of the same metal her sister was made of.

When he arrived at the mansion, Uncle Donny quickly parked his car and ran towards the front gate. He could see Alexia standing outside, shivering in the cold rain as she waited for him. Without a word, he wrapped his coat around her shoulders and led her inside.

As Uncle Donny and Alexia made their way through the mansion, they could see the remnants of Jareth's madness. The walls were covered in strange, violent drawings, and the furniture was overturned or broken. The smell only seemed to grow more pungent as they went further into the house.

At last the reached Jareth’s bedroom. Shaking his head sadly, Uncle Donny walked over to Jareth and knelt down beside him. He took in his frail appearance and the vacant look in his eyes. It was clear that whatever had happened to Jareth had truly broken him.

Uncle Donny reached for his phone and dialed Dr. Bastion's office number, which he had saved on speed dial for emergencies for Aleck do to her PTSD. He explained the situation briefly to the nurse on call, who assured him that she would arrange for a mental hospital ambulance to come pick up Jareth.

"So why aren’t the maids you're used to having here I wonder. Oh well. Come on let’s get you cleaned up.” Uncle Donny tried not to gag at the stench as he lifted Jareth to his feet with a grunt. “Alexia, see if you can find some clean towels and clothes for us. I saw a shower room down the hall. Leave them outside the door. Then go wait for the ambulance in the main hall." He said as he walked Jareth to the shower room. Alexia ran to get the stuff.

The shower room was a humongous room with a sauna, a spa, and a shower. Uncle Donny undressed Jareth as one would undress a babe and set the shower for warm. He scrubbed him down quickly. He grabbed the towel and extra clothes Alexia managed to find. He dried him, dressed him and walked him zombie-like down the hall into the main living room near the front door where they waited patiently for the ambulance to arrive from Triara Mental Hospital while Jareth stared vacantly at a wall.

As they waited for the ambulance to arrive, Uncle Donny sat with Alexia and congratulated her on her bravery.

Finally, after what felt like hours but was only really a few minutes, they heard sirens approaching. Uncle Donny stood with Alexia outside and stayed by her side as they watched Jareth being taken away by paramedics.

Once everything had calmed down and the ambulance had driven away with Jareth inside, Uncle Donny hugged Alexia tightly. "How did you know something was wrong with Jareth. He’s Alecks friend not yours?”

"Well you know how Aleck and I used to communicate together with our twin telepathy?”

Uncle Donald nodded. “I tried to get in touch with her using it again…” Alexia went on to describe the dream and Jareth’s connection to Aleck.

“I see, Alexia…”

“Yes Uncle?”

“Don’t contact you sister like that again until we know she’s free okay. I don’t want you broken too.”

“But…”

“War is hell, Alexia and your sister is in one of the worst positions one can be in a war. Stay out of her mind for your own sanity.”

“Yes, Uncle Donald.”

“Good girl.” Uncle Donald pulled her in and kissed her on her forehead. “We do have a plan. We’ve got to trust the Creator that he’ll make it work.”

After Jareth was taken away by the ambulance, Uncle Donny took Alexia to meet with the doctor in charge of his care. The doctor listened to her with interest as she described her dream and Uncle Donny explained his bizarre connection to Aleck.

"Hmm, this is quite intriguing," the doctor said, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "I've heard of mind-to-mind communication before, but never between non-twins."

The doctor looked at them both seriously. "I want to run some tests on Jareth's brain and see if we can find out more about this connection he has with Aleck." He turned to one of the nurses and barked out an order. "Jenkins, run a brain scan on the prince and get me the scans we took of Aleck Morganson."

Soon he had the two brain scans in front of him and he whistled as he compared the two. "This is incredible," he said slowly. "The scans are almost identical, down to specific neural pathways." He looked up at Uncle Donny and Alexia with awe. "The impossible has happened, natural mind mates."

"What does that mean?" Alexia asked.

The doctor smiled kindly at her. "Dark experiments have been done in attempt to create such a bond artificially, but never has it been known to occur naturally in any race except among twins." He turned back to examine the scans again. "This is truly remarkable."

“What’s this.” Dr. Bastion stated with a scowl as something new came up in the brain scan. He scowled as he examined the Prince's brain scan more closely. Dr. Bastion remained fixated on the scan, marking certain areas with precision.

What’s going on?” Uncle Donny asked in concern.

Dr. Bastion tapped his finger against the screan. “The prince’s mental condition is no accident. Someone went over that young man’s mind with the equivalent of spiked boots. In fact they did it in such a way that the princes mental health would not be reparable by normal means. But interestingly enough some point have repaired themselves and from what I can tell not in area’s the prince’s attackers intended.”

“What more can you tell me about his telepathic connection with Aleck and how it came about?" So, Uncle Donny and Alexia shared everything they knew about him and Aleck. Finally, Dr. Bastion turned to face them. "So, the unexpected bond with his friends had helped heal some of the damage in ways those psycho phycologist didn’t intend. But being separated from his mind mate has caused him to descend into insanity much faster than intended by whoever caused the initial harm."

‘Torn from his mind mate?’ Uncle Donny repeated in form of a question

“He connected with her mind deeply. Deeper than she ever connected with her twin. The separation must have damaged both their minds some but his worse than hers because he already had someone do some deliberate damage to it. He needs to reunite the connection soon or they will both experience brain hemorrhaging.”

"Can you help him?" Asked Alexia.

Dr. Bastion smiled at her. “I can indeed young lady. I can indeed.”

—————————

Dr. Bastion worked tirelessly to heal Prince Jareth's mind, slowly undoing the damage that had been inflicted upon it. He knew that with time and finding his mind mate again, the rest of the damage would also heal. As he was finishing up for the day, a nurse came in and quietly whispered into his ear, "Prince Jareth's brother is here, sir."

As Dr. Bastion left his office to meet with Prince Jareth's brother, Zane, in the observation room, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. After days of trying to reach any member of the royal family, he finally managed to get ahold of one.

As he entered the observation room, Dr. Bastion stood back in awe as the second prince of Rillia walked towards him. Unlike his brother, Zane was much more massive, with a stocky and strong build. He was also known to be the wisest and calmest of all the princes.

"Hello, Doctor," Zane greeted him politely as he looked at his brother through the observation glass.

"Your Highness," Dr. Bastion replied with a slight bow. "I am glad you could make it."

Zane's piercing blue eyes studied him intently before turning his gaze towards his brother once again. "How is he?" he asked with evident concern.

Dr. Bastion cleared his throat before answering, not wanting to reveal too much information just yet. "Prince Jareth's mind had suffered severe damage," he said carefully. "I was able to to heal him for the most part."

Zane narrowed his eye before turning back to face Dr. Bastion. "For the most part? How did he end up here to begin with" he asked in concern as he looked at his brother through the glass. Jareth was dressed in a white patient robe and sat at a table in a lush garden. He stared at a fountain as he sipped at some hot drink in his hand.

—————————

Zane took a seat across from Dr. Bastion, his eyes never leaving his brother's form as he listened intently to the doctor's explanation. His expression turned grim as he learned about the evidence of attacks and the mind mate problem.

"I see," Zane said quietly after Dr. Bastion finished his explanation. "And you believe that finding this mind mate is crucial for my brother's recovery?"

Dr. Bastion nodded, a worried look on his face. "Yes, Your Highness. If he doesn't find her soon, all my efforts will be for naught. Their minds will start tearing apart again."

Rillian's brow furrowed as he carefully considered the doctor's words. He had been aware of the mental attacks for some time now, and had been diligently investigating them. But the revelation about Aleck caught him off guard, causing his normally composed demeanor to falter. As the one who discovered her and her twin brothers on Etheron, Rillian felt protective towards them, almost like they were his own children. And every time he was at the base, he made sure to keep a close eye on them.

Zane was lost in thought as he looked at the side by side of Jareth’s and Alecks mind maps that the doctor had projected in front of him. She was the same age as his daughter, Liaabiah, and just as fierce and curious. It was a very strange coincidence that she had connected mentally with Jareth.

He remembered the day he had found her and her brothers orphaned on Etheron, Rillian couldn't help but like them they were such cute kids, especially Aleck. She reminded him so much of Liaabiah with her fiery spirit and kind heart.

The Rillian recalled how Father had forbidden him from adopting them. He had tried his best to help them endure there war torn planet in other ways, but it pained him that he couldn't do more for them.

But ever since his father hired that adviser of his, he had not been the same. Zane mentally went over the evidence he had managed to gather against Grand Adviser Bastion. It wasn't much, but it was enough to raise suspicion. He had always been wary of the man ever since his father had hired him as an adviser. Something about him just didn't sit right with Zane.

But gathering proof against someone who had the ear of the King was not easy or safe, even for the King's own children. Zane knew that he had to be careful with his investigation. The man was cunning and manipulative, and Zane knew that he couldn't let his guard down.

The unpredictable was what was needed to defeat his father’s worm tongue of an advisor and the group of phycologist advisers he had hired. According to the Doctor, the attackers meant the madness to take Jareth over at a much slower rate.

The broken mind connection with Aleck caused his mental deterioration to occur faster than expected, but not in the brutal manner that his assailants had intended. Ironically, it was this connection that ultimately saved him from a much worse fate at the hands of his enemies. As he observed his brother talking to the doctors, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief knowing that he was now fully restored mentally. And there was one more change: his once overwhelming arrogance and vanity, which had been his greatest weakness, were now completely absent from his demeanor.

The Sharlakar had started to invade Rillian space. Father had ordered him to retrieve Jareth so he could serve as high admiral against the Sharlakar. So he would retrieve him. He would keep silent about the changes in his brother. The adviser’s arrogance was his weakness. That snake had his attack on Jareth and the outcome of it planned and predicted perfectly. The idea that something could change the end of a mental attack he designed was unthinkable to him. So Jareth’s unpredictability was a silver bullet that needed to be wielded very carefully.

Zane planned to bring Jareth back to Rillia with him, but he would be careful not to reveal everything he knew. He couldn't hide all the details, but he could ask his brother not to intervene with the person who had harmed him. Jareth was capable of taking action, but Zane needed his brother's spontaneous and unpredictable behavior to remain hidden. With some subtle guidance from Zane, they could convince their father's advisors that Jareth was insane. As much as it pained him to manipulate his beloved brother in this way, It was a necessary evil and he hoped when his brother figured it out he would forgive him for it.

Zane followed the doctor back to the office. "Well can I take him now?”

Dr. Bastion looked up from his charts “yes shortly. I’d like all of us to meet with Jareth, as well as Aleck’s Aunt and Uncle. We need to discuss some things together.”

Jareth sat in silence as he listened to Dr. Bastion speak to him as well as Aleck’s Uncle and Aunt and his brother. “Now remember you can reconnect without direct contact to her mind. If you keep up the direct contact like you did before you’ll end up bedding her even if you don’t mean to. Now, are you sure about being able to contact her soon, Jareth?”

“The virus should soon spread throughout the cyborgs. If Aleck succeeds in the rebellion we planned and follows the directions I gave her before she left, she should contact the Rillian Government soon. I should be able to meet up with her then.”

“You don’t touch her mind directly this time until your married. You got us.” Uncle Donny said aiming a finger across the conference table at Jareth.

“Of course not. I didn’t mean any harm last time by touching her mind,” Said Jareth as he put his Caja down.

“If you meant to harm her your brother would have been here to collect your body and not you.” Zane chuckled at that having his own teenage daughter. He was beginning to like Aleck's uncle.

“And that worm tongue.” Jareth hissed between his teeth.

“I’ll take care of him, my brother. You just worry about Aleck and driving the Sharlakar fleet from our worlds forever.” Said Zane confidently.

Jareth nodded at his brother and then turned to Uncle Donny and Aunt Karla, stood and gave to them the Rillian sign for highest respect and honor. “I’ll find her and protect her.” he said “and this I swear to you. I shall no ways touch her mind or body until she wears the Marriage band of Awn on her arm.”

Donald put a hand on Jareth's shoulder and looked him in the eye. “You go with my full blessings to marry her. I know your honorable Jareth. I’ve known from the beginning you were honorable, son otherwise I wouldn’t let you within a mile of my niece. Tell the truth about your first wife and don’t hold back. There is no room in any marriage for deceit even if it was deceit born of pain.”

“Be careful with the desire within you. It is better to marry first and explain later to your relatives than to be forced to marry because of dishonor.” Uncle Donny gave him a quick hug goodbye and Aunt Karla did as well. Jareth gave her the son to mother hand signal showing she had a mother right to the hug.
