Chapter 1: Into the unknown

Chapter 1: Into the unknown

In a dark, hollow cave, a mother sat reading a book to her young goblin son, Gobni. Her soft, calm voice captivated the entire cave, making Gobni feel very comfortable. He was happy, and for a moment, the harsh realities of their goblin lives seemed to fade away.

The story she read was about the Martial King, a legendary figure born in a remote village in the Grinda Kingdom. From a young age, he excelled among his peers, showcasing extraordinary strength and a well-trained body. Tragedy struck when his mother passed away when he was just sixteen, but the villagers' condolences helped him find solace.

At eighteen, the Martial King set out into the vast, treacherous world of murim, seeking to make a name for himself. Unaware of the dangers that lurked, he wandered for two years, searching for a master to teach him martial arts. Rejected by numerous sects due to lack of funds or perceived potential, he was on the verge of giving up.

One day, he stumbled upon an old shrine, where he prayed for guidance. As he left, he headed towards his distant village but fell into a hidden pit. Inside, he discovered a mysterious door, which led to...

Gobni's eyes widened as he looked up at his mother, eager to hear what happened next. But to his horror, he saw that she had succumbed to her old age, a fate that goblins like them couldn't escape. Gobni's cries echoed through the cave, mourning the loss of his beloved mother, knowing that his own time was limited.

While he was crying outside, a large gathering of hogoblins assembled, led by Krak, who shouted in a thunderous voice that echoed through the forest: "All goblins, come out of your caves! The gods are descending for the selection to begin!" Gobni wiped away his tears, took the book his mother was reading, and tore out the unread portion. With a determination in his eyes, he said, "Mother, you loved this book so much that you wanted to see the Martial King with your own eyes, but you couldn't due to your weak lineage. I will complete this story for you, so it won't be just a story anymore, but a reality of its own."

With that, Gobni swallowed the book whole, storing it in his stomach for safekeeping. He bowed to his mother's lifeless body and joined the crowd of goblins gathered before the hogoblins. The air was filled with murmurs and chatter, but Krak's stern voice silenced them once more: "Welcome, my fellow goblins! The selection of the Warriors is starting, and I won't have any constituting nuisance in the presence of the Divinity that is about to show up. Comport yourselves, or you might be chosen!"

The silence was palpable for one minute, and then, a Divinity from outer space arrived at incredible speed. She took the form of an inhuman woman with a body made of iron in a silver color, like a robot. Floating midair, she muttered to herself before speaking: "The amount of goblins chosen is 266." With a gesture of her hand, 266 goblins, including Gobni, floated in the air. Gobni thought to himself, "Is this the power of a Divinity? Can I evolve to their level?"

Stolen story; please report.

Just then, a massive, seemingly invincible spaceship appeared, and the Divinity hurled the chosen goblins aboard before taking off into space, leaving behind only a glint due to its incredible speed.

In the spaceship, the goblins were given different rooms and were well taken care of. Gobni, who enjoyed this type of comfort, thought he was in paradise. After a two-month journey, the spaceship stopped, and it seemed to have reached its destination. In the window, a very large rod could be seen; its beginning and ending couldn't be seen, so it was awe-inspiring and magnificent. The goblins were directed by a voice that came from a speaker on how to alight from the ship onto the large rod. All the goblins were happy due to the treatment they had received so far, not knowing that this was the last time they would ever feel comfortable in their lives.

All the goblins walked on the large roadway that led into the rod. At the entrance was a portal; without thinking twice, all the goblins walked into this portal without question or anxiety, thinking everything was alright. Gobni reached the portal and looked back once because he didn't know where this large portal led to, but he was sure to survive any hardship that came his way. He entered the portal...

All was darkness. He opened his eyes slowly, and the first thing he saw was grass. He thought to himself, "Am I in a forest?" He then stood up and Standing up, he realized his clothes had changed, and he now wore only a tattered loincloth, holding a club in one arm. Confused and disoriented, he heard rustling in the forest behind him. As he turned to investigate, he saw a human soldier, adorned in fine golden attire, holding a golden sword and gazing at him like prey. Sensing danger, Gobni fled, but the soldier relentlessly pursued him. Gobni thought to himself, "What kind of situation have I gotten myself into?"

The human breathed heavily, exclaiming, "Are beginner goblins this hard to kill? In all the fantasy novels I've read, goblins aren't this intelligent and are easy to kill, even for beginners! But this goblin is odd; he keeps dodging my attacks by a hair's breadth while throwing stones at me. Well, I, the hero, can't be disgraced by a mere goblin!" With that, he activated his skill, Holy Blade, unleashing a slash that sent a flying aura...

From Gobni's perspective: I kept running while attacking the human by throwing pebbles I found on the ground, but he deflected them with ease. If I keep this up, he'll eventually leave me alone. What's he muttering to himself? He looks angry; I'd better run away before things get out of hand or dangerous. I turned my back to flee, but before I knew it, I was cut in half by the sword aura. As I fell to the ground, I thought, "Huh, I'm in half... Is this how I die?" I saw the human's happy expression and thought, "I died for someone else's joy... Just look at how happy he looks." I pondered the reason for my existence and asked, "Why am I...?"
