This Skeleton Big Brother is actually planning to fight an elite monster! Come on, even a Spartan warrior wouldn't be as bold as you! The attributes of elite monsters nowadays far surpass those of players.
Take this Skeleton Bear Elite, for instance—it has 3,000 hit points and 30 defense. Compared to the summoned skeletons with a measly five attack points, skeleton can't even break its defense.
And with such a high attack power, one swipe of its paw would likely leave Skeleton Big Brother on the verge of death, even if he evolved.
Unless she reaches level 10 and learns to summon skeletal archers, or if Alexander evolves into a skeletal archer armed with a long-range weapon, then perhaps, with half an hour of effort, they could barely kill this elite bear using long-range advantages.
But Alexander wants to tackle a level 10 elite monster right now. That's beyond frightening! She admits, Alexander's skills surpass many experts she's seen, but even in the game's pantheon of major gods, there hasn't been a system announcement saying they've slain an elite monster.
Could it be that this skeleton actually considers himself to be some kind of Ladder Demon King?
A bone suddenly lands in front of her, leaving Sofia with a moment of bewilderment on her delicate face. "Skeleton Big Brother, what do you want me to do with this?"
Alexander takes out a bone knife and starts to whittle the bone into powder, giving Sofia a demonstration.
"You? You want me... to help you whittle the bone?" Sofia's hands move as if she's trying to confirm. Alexander's skull nods.
"Wow!" Sofia suddenly jumps with excitement, causing Alexander's arm to tremble slightly in confusion. "You finally decided to talk to me! Wow, I'm so happy!"
Sofia grabs Alexander's arm, her face beaming with joy. She had always suspected that Alexander's mutation only affected his physical form and not his intelligence. That's why she kept chattering near him, trying to get him to acknowledge her.
Sofia had always found it frustrating that Alexander didn't seem interested in talking to her. But now, the second he signaled that he could indeed communicate, she forgot every iota of prior annoyance.
Sofia was not one to hold grudges. Thus, when Alexander instructed her to grind some bone, she grabbed her necromancer's staff and got right to work.
The staff had a sharp end that was more than capable of shaving bone, albeit not as efficiently as Alexander did.
"So, what's this bone dust for, Mr. Skeletal?" Sofia asked, chipping away at her own bone fragment, her curiosity bubbling over.
Alexander, the silent warrior, answered not with words but with deeds. His bone blade morphed into a longbow made entirely of bone. Then, from the pile of bone dust at his feet, an arrow materialized, nocked onto the bowstring.
In the heartbeat it took for Sofia's eyes to widen in astonishment, Alexander drew the bone bow taut and released an arrow with a whoosh. It cut through the air with an ear-piercing whistle, flying toward the elite skeletal bear that was 80 meters away.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The arrow struck, embedding itself into the creature's skull.
"–78."
His Quick Slash skill activated, increasing his attack speed by 240% for 80 minutes. Alexander's rate of fire was now 0.7 seconds per arrow.
Another arrow shot out.
"–78!"
"–78!"
"–52."
"–52."
……
The pile of bone dust beside Alexander dwindled visibly. Within seven seconds, he had fired ten arrows in rapid succession, each with the velocity of a vindictive spirit.
In an incredibly short amount of time, the elite skeleton bear's health dropped by 600 points. Sofia was utterly amazed.
Confused and helpless, the elite skeleton bear didn't know where the arrows were coming from. Its aggro range was only 50 meters, and Alexander was 80 meters away—well outside of it.
With a 100% hit rate, Alexander left the bear spinning in place. He converted all his bone powder into 20 bone arrows, strapping them to his waist as he fired arrows and closed the distance.
Twenty seconds later, the elite skeleton bear finally spotted Alexander and roared in rage. It slammed its paws on the ground, activating its ground-shaking skill. Rocks and debris flew everywhere.
Hilariously enough, instead of charging at Alexander, the bear actually turned tail and ran.
"My god, Skeleton Big Brother is really ferocious, isn't he?" Sofia looked at Alexander, who was fully prepared and continuously closing the distance to the bear, and felt deep admiration.
"You anticipated that it would run and were already moving closer?"
"Your instincts are just too strong," Sofia genuinely exclaimed.
She had thought Alexander was being overly cautious. Why move within its attack range when he could just kite it from a distance? Now she realized how naive she was.
"Congratulations on defeating the elite skeleton bear. You've gained 1000 experience points and leveled up," the system message rang.
"You are the first player among 10 billion players to defeat a level 10 elite Boss, and your item drop rate has increased by 200%. You've earned 10 gold coins. Would you like to announce this server-wide?"
"Wow, it's already dead..." Before Sofia could recover from her shock, the elite skeleton bear had turned into a corpse.
"The first kill earns 10 gold coins—that's a fortune! That could be sold for at least 100,000 USD!"
Sofia had seen forum posts where people were willing to buy in-game gold coins for 10,000 USD each.
In the early stages of the game, money was a persistent issue.
You needed it for potions, equipment, repairs, learning skills, leveling skills, guild construction, and even for the consumption of food and water.
The game's currency drop rate was so miserably low it could drive a person mad. Sofia had followed Alexander and witnessed him killing at least 200 monsters. Yet, all she had picked up was around 500 copper coins.
A hundred copper coins equaled one silver, and a hundred silver coins equaled one gold coin.
She was fortunate to have the formidable Alexander at her side. She had avoided any harm, but ordinary players, with their limited abilities, would find coins even more scarce. One could only imagine how broke the average player was.
Now, with her newfound wealth of ten gold coins, equivalent to 100,000 USD, how could she not be elated?
However, she had no plans to sell them for real currency. She needed to reserve them for upgrading her undead-enhancing skills to further boost Alexander's capabilities. He was her trump card, and nothing else mattered.
As Alexander picked up the loot, Sofia looked on, her gaze filled with awe.
Alexander himself was a bit excited. The elite skeleton bear had given him 1,000 experience points, 1,000 evolution points, and 100 enhancement points. Now he could strengthen his weapons.
With the first-kill bonus, there was a 200% drop rate increase, resulting in a field of coins, potions, and equipment.
Resisting his excitement, Alexander began collecting the items sparkling with a blue light. Sofia jogged up to him, her face glowing with enthusiasm.
"Skeleton Big Brother, I leveled up and even got 10 gold coins! Now I can learn to summon skeleton archers, this is awesome!"
"Should I make a world announcement?" she added.
Alexander continued to pick up items from the ground, unresponsive. But when he picked up a golden book, his eyes widened in delight. "What's this?"
"Wow, so many blue items!" Sofia was thrilled but made no move to pick up anything. She figured that since Skeleton Big Brother had killed the elite bear, the loot should be his to distribute.
Wait, What was that book he had just picked up, though?
