Devastation, War, Destruction, Death.
He had seen it all. He had remembered it all. He had participated in it all.

Battles ravaged the planet where peace no longer existed in the vocabulary of its inhabitants. The level of technology had risen to an unprecedented level to keep up with the increasingly destructive battles fought.
Forget atomic bombs, even antimatter bombs had been perfected and scientists helping the war were beginning to research dark matter bombs, using the energy hidden in the depths of the universe. Inaccessible energy that could only be seen to be so powerful because of its effect on gravity. Without this invisible dark energy that scientist could not observe, the universe would’ve collapsed in on itself many times and life would be impossible to maintain.
Every country fought with all their might, but they also put all their minds onto the development of the dark matter bomb. Each of them knew that the one who managed to create it first would be the one who won this everlasting war.
“Doctor, how much progress have you made? We have just intercepted and decoded a message of the Russian scientists notifying their Prime minister that they’ve almost completed their version of Project Kami.”
“I am extremely close to completing the bomb, I’m only missing a tiny piece of the puzzle. However, this tiny piece is proving difficult to solve. One wrong step and this whole country would be blown to dust, inhabitable for many millennia.”
“I don’t know what ‘pieces’ you’re talking about, but the higher ups are getting worried and giving me lots of pressure. They want a specific date when it will be completed.”
“I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again, a dark matter bomb isn’t just something that can be created easily without breaking a few laws this world has established. It evades all observation, all attempts to exploit its power. Even reaching the point I have gotten is going against the heavens. It’s almost like the gods don’t want me to create it.”

“I don’t care what gods there are or what they’re doing, but this is the real world, Doctor. Each day this bomb isn’t completed, many more lives die. You have three months.”
The phone hung up and the Doctor could hear the monotone ring from the other end of the line. He heaved a sigh and calmly set down the phone.
He muttered to himself, “I had completed the bomb long ago, but the devastation that it would cause if it was unleashed on the world, perhaps even the planet wouldn’t be able to survive a single blow from that... that monstrosity. It’s simply not something that should be in the hands of mankind, especially in a world swallowed by war. If there really were gods, they wouldn’t want this in our hands either.”
He sat up in his chair and leaned back, closing his eyes, relaxing and listening to his own breath exhaling and inhaling. He thought and thought about what he wanted to do, what he should do, what he would do.
Suddenly, red alarms flared and a loud siren bellowed through the air, slicing apart the peace that the Doctor had. He leaped out of his chair in surprise before his face had turned to one of fury.
“DOCTOR BROOKLYN!”
The Doctor hurriedly sprinted down the hall to the room that housed the completed dark matter bomb. A crazed man loomed over the control panel, pressing countless buttons, a robotic voice could be heard over the sounds of sirens. A mad look was on his face and he whispered to himself, “S-sarah, it’s alright. Daddy’s going to be with you soon, as soon as I avenge you!”
The Doctor was too late, Doctor Brooklyn had initiated the launch, there was nothing anyone could do, “Brooklyn, you have doomed us all.”
The Doctor had given up all hope, once the launch started, there was no way to end it. Stopping it prematurely would cause an explosion even bigger than the actual bomb could unleash.
All of the Doctor’s anger and fury dissipated, he had lost all hope of survival. He calmly walked to the balcony and spoke without turning his head, “Do you think it will be worth it? This planet won’t be able to survive. You will kill many billions in order to avenge your daughter. How many innocent people will be included like your daughter?”
Doctor Brooklyn swiveled his head, “What would you know? You’ve never had a daughter.”
The Doctor shook his head. The last moments of life between them ended in silence.
Blinding flashes erupted as the energy erupted from the launched bomb, energy that had broken the light barrier. The Doctor had died blind.
