Evolution

Being a prisoner of my own body isn’t all that bad. No… Saying it’s ‘my body’ is wrong. It is more of a mishmash of body parts stitched together to build a disturbing, but functional, humanoid body. In my opinion, I look even worse than Frankenstein’s monster. At least Dr. Frankenstein gave his creation matching arms and a pair of testicles. I, on the other hand, have neither. It’s not normal for anyone to have one hand bigger than their face, while the other one is shaped like the claw of a crane game. Hell… At this point, I doubt that I even have sex organs.

It’s not like I can look at my body nor experience natural urges. The mad doctor must have done something to this body because I don’t remember the last time I had eaten or taken a dump in this body. In addition my chest meats are mismatched. I may not be able to see what’s between the legs, but the chest is somewhat visible through the clothing. And to have one bigger than the other is driving me insane.

Am I supposed to be a man or a woman? Make up your mind you as*hole of a creator. If I ever regain control over myself, the first thing I’ll do is strangle that demon alive. No, it’s not if. It is just a matter of when. Mark my words Zabel; I will have my revenge!

Anyways, with that out of my system, yeah… Everything isn’t all that bad. For one thing, I am sorta alive and not visiting the divorced Dark family. Ever since I was violated by the dirty old man and stuffed in his fetish meat suit, I have been a spectator of ‘my body’. The thing controlling the body doesn’t make a great conversation partner because of its lack of emotions and generic responses that boils down to ‘following orders => yes’ and ‘goal => achieve perfection’. Though, I can persuade it to do some activities if our interests are miraculously aligned. Like sparing that human knight.

I decided to call her Para, short for parasite, but the as*hole likes to call her Zero. I doubt the being in question cares what people call it.

Eh...I was too immersed in my complaining to realize that I had arrived at the doorstep of Zabel’s temporary office of operations. Alright fake me, you know the drill.

Gently, my body moved my crane hand to knock on the door.

“Master Zabel, I have come to bring you the news of our latest conquest of the human trading city.” (Zero)

“Come in.” A reply rang through the door. Acknowledging the request, I opened the door and walked into the office. Since the room was temporary, most of his tools and personal belongings weren’t present: no flasks and no body parts. To anyone walking in, it would look like a normal medieval office. Zabel was sitting on the couch, enjoying his tea and biscuits.

I moved towards him and bowed before announcing my presence.

“Subject Zero Zero Zero is here to report the results of the body over control of human city, Belium.” I nonchalantly spoke.

“ Good work, Zero. Now give me the details.” (Zabel)

“City has been conquered with no demon casualties. Monster supply has fallen to 60% of original numbers. All resistance has fallen silent after the human leader, Adelio, proclaimed their surrender.” (Zero/Para)

“Excellent, my beautiful creation.” Zabel spoke with a smile. “Anything else to note?”

“Human Adelio requested that no more harm be done to his kind inhabiting the city.” I spoke of the agreement I made with the human commander that allowed for this swift victory.

“Ignore it and have them turned into livestock. These monkeys are nothing but a waste of resources if we are to keep them around for too long.” (Zabel)

Oh nononono. This can’t be happening. I can’t stomach the act of killing these innocent civilians. Killing in a battle between fighters and killing for the sake of killing are different things. There’s got to be something I can do.

‘Ehhh… Hey Para, turning the people into livestock is a waste. We can better utilize them as slaves to work on farms.’ I mentally suggested, hoping my body would speak out.

“Master Zabel, would it not be better to have slaves to produce a steady source of resouces?” (Zero)

“It may prove to be useful, but not something necessary if we are to advance and gather more livestock to feed my growing army.” At my suggestion, the demon rubbed his hand on his chin.

‘It actually worked! Okay, let’s keep this going. Now say, we can turn the humans who were captured against their own through selective education. An~d though I hate to say this, they may prove useful in your disgusting experiments.’ (me)

“Human spies will provide great advantages in future skirmishes. Humans who are unwilling to participate can be repurposed for their organs in your experiments.” (Zero)

“Wonderful, Zero. Truly marvelous suggestions. Your intellect far surpasses your older brethans.” The mention of experiments brought a huge grin on Zabel’s face. He stood upward, and placed his hands on my shoulders. “You, my perfect creation, are destined for greatness. And soon, you will grow to be greater.”

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

‘That sounds hella ominous’ (me)

“Affirmative” (Zero)

‘Did you agree with me or were you answering this geezer?’ (me)

‘Fine, ignore me! It’s not like I care or anything.’ I mentally poutted.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

“My lord, the meeting you requested is ready for your attendance.” A soldier notified outside the office door.

“Perfect timing. Now Zero, I do believe you deserve a reward. Follow me.” (Zabel)

Reward? I never thought I'd get something like a gift from this mad doctor. I guess everyone has a light side. Zabel didn’t seem annoyed by the sudden intrusion of the soldier, so what’s coming must be really appealing to him.

The messenger soldier guided us to our destination. All the while, Zabel was walking with a bit of lightness in his steps. Soon enough, we reached the main dining hall that was repurposed as the main war room.

Two armored wolfmen stood guard of the double doors. Seeing the general approaching them, they immediately saluted before opening the doors. What’s inside was an enormous table filled with chairs. The room was void of paintings, vases, and other valuables. Like many other human mansions and homes, the items were taken as spoils of war and shipped to Zabel’s private vault back in the demon’s territory.

The occupants focused their eyes on the new attendants: me and General Zabel. There are in total 6 other demons of commander rank within Zabel’s army. One stood up at attention and saluted, another glared at my direction, and the others took some glances before going back to their own activities.

“Hey old man, why did you gather us here today?!” The glaring lizardman demanded. He had large guts to talk like this towards his superior. Especially towards the one that’s prone to kill his people at the slightest inconvenience.

Usually, this extent of disrespect towards a general is punishable by torture and, taking into account Zabel’s personality, death. Yet, the demon general only smiled as he placed his arm around my shoulders. His lips may be upward and his aura may be calm, but I bet his eyes are burning holes through their souls. Something big was going to happen.

Zabel clapped his hands, infused with magic, to get the commanders’ attention. Each clap shook the room with a shockwave. In no time, the occupants sat or stood at attention.

“Everyone, today I have brought you together to meet a new addition within your ranks.” Zabel announced while ignoring the lizardman. “And as the good demons that we all are, it would be quite rude to not introduce yourselves and your abilities to the new member to our ranks.”

“I shall start.” He continued with a happy tone. “I am General Zabel von Avil, your superior, and my greatest skill lies with my eyes that can determine the value of any individual.” A lie.

Zabel’s introduction was surprising to both myself and the other demons. From the looks of it, they never saw their general act this way until today. His joy and bright voice brought cold sweat onto the demon commanders.

Silence ensued after Zabel’s introduction. The saluting demon was the first to break the silence with his upright voice.

“I am Commander Ghastur Tirs of the intelligence division. I have no unique ability besides my intellect and intuition.” Ghastur Tirs pushed up his glasses as spoke with commitment. The man possesses the usual demonic features: a pair of curved horns, wings, and an arrow tipped tail.

The other commanders followed his example and introduced themselves.

The youngest of the group raised his right hand. “Hello, my name is Hiro, and I have this giant left hand that can erode anything it touches.” To prove his point, Hiro showcased his abnormal limb by waving it in the air.

The lizardman spoke next. “The name’s Zuro Zasel. I don’t give a damn who you are. Just know that if you piss me off, I will,” His gray tail moved upward, showing off his other mouth and the large set of teeth. “eat you alive with my tail. YOU HEAR ME!!”

“Oh would you be quiet, you disgusting lizard.” An angel-like lady demanded. Before allowing Zuro to argue back, she spread her large gray bat wings.. “Be grateful, peasants, for hearing my name. I am Commander Siviria Tombstone and with these gorgeous wings of mine, I create large disasters by controlling the air around me.”

“I have to agree with Siviria. You are always so loud.” An older woman called out. She crossed her arms under her large chest and sighed. Her dress barely hid her mounds as they bounced when she breathed out.

“Hello darling.” She faced me with a predator smile. “I am Lady Arealia Mordgrave. My left eye has the power to distinguish between truth and lies. As my first truth to you, you look exceptionally appetizing. I can’t wait to corr-.”

“Hey hey hey~!” A harpy girl interrupted.

The little harpy jumped up and down while flapping her feathered arms.

“Mami is Mami! Mami runs fast!” She chirped. “Can you be Mami’s new friend?”

Her immature energy was adorable. I would happily say ‘yes’ to her if I could.

"It your turn my precise creation." Zabel ordered me to introduce myself after Mami.

“I am Subject Zero Zero Zero, or Zero.” My voice held no emotions as it stated my name as a fact rather than something that identifies my being.

“Very good Zero.” The general complimented.

“What the hell geezer?! She hasn't told us her abilities yet!” Zuro angrily argued. Zabel’s eyes twitched but he showed no rage and his smile grew into a toothy grin.

“I see we have our first volunteer.” Zabel took a quick glance at Zuro before looking back towards me. “Now Zero, show them your ability. You already know theirs so it should be easy.”

“Affirmative.” (Zero)

‘Spike.’ (Zero)

‘Ehh… Para, why did you mentally say spike?’ (me)

*STAB*

An earthen pillar impaled Zuro between his legs and exited through his neck. His head was pushed off his body and slammed at the ceiling before falling onto the table with a meaty splat. Everyone besides, Zero and Zabel were in shock at what had occurred. The scene made me want to puke but, as the spectator of my body, I couldn't. As the head rolled across the table, Zero wasted no time and rushed towards the lizardman's body. Getting into arms reach, my body's original tail suddenly detached itself and fleshy tendrils erupted from where my tail was supposed to be. The tendrils eat away at the corpse, melting the reptilian flesh and bones, leaving only the tail behind. The tail was swarmed by my flesh as it attached itself to my body and replaced my old tail. The gaping mouth the tail open and closed, saliva escaping it’s gaws at every motion.

I felt a strange sensation as my body adjusted itself to my new stolen tail. The feeling was… addicting… I wanted more… I needed more.

A disgusting roar from my tail brought the other demon commanders back to their senses. Mami began to panic, Ghastur stood still with his hand behind his back, and the others took their battle stances. No longer was Zero the apathetic monstrosity. Now, she was a feral monstrosity acting on its hunger.

“Take your time Zero. Your meal isn’t going anywhere.” Zabel reassured Zero(and me). “I won’t let them.”
