[ I'm Just A Human ]

「 2- Transported To Another World 」

I could hear the birds chirping, the leaves swaying. I slowly opened my eyes. Tall trees entered my sight with small openings so light would come through.

I'm not dead. Am I?

I layed on what appears to be grass and soil. My body temperature was cold but nothing too serious. I checked my pulse. I'm breathing normally, I also have a pulse.

So I'm not dead.

I sighed in relief. My body stood up on its own accompanied with slight dizziness. I inspected my body, no abnormalities. No scars, no bruises, not a drop of blood in sight. My clothes were also clean. I scanned my surroundings. It seems I'm in a forest. The forest was cold so it would be near winter? Living in a tropical climate for 10 years, it was hard to tell.

Firstly, I need water. After I screamed on top of my lungs, my throat was parched and I probably broke my vocal chords. No, that's too exaggerated. My ears picked up the sound of water. I made my way through the thick leaves and tall grass. There, a stream.

I quickly ran and washed my face. The water looks clean, I wonder if I could drink it. If I get a stomachache, it would be trouble. But a sip wouldn't hurt.

So, I took a small sip.

It's fresh! Like spring water!

In a distance, I saw a black cat, enjoying the fresh water. I stared at it for a while. It stared at me back. It's sharp eyes felt like it's watching through my soul, making me filled with goosebumps.

I turned the other way immediately. My curiosity filled me and took a quick peek, just to see what it's doing. It was beside me.

"AAAAA-!" I screamed but my throat was hurt.

"Go ahead and drink. It's clean," it talked.

It talked.

The cat talked.

A talking cat.

I'm definitely dreaming. 2 peculiar encounters within a day. Maybe I'm going crazy. Sorry Qis, I'm sorry. I should've rested, just like you said.

"I said go ahead and drink."

"Ah right." I snapped back.

I took a handful and drank it. My throat felt cleansed and my body became warmer. A magical water that instantly cured me, or maybe I was desperate for water. It's definitely because I'm desperate.

"How can you talk?" I asked.

"How can I NOT talk," it said sarcastically.

"You're just a cat," I said sarcastically.

"You human. I'm not 'just a cat'," emphasising on the last words.

"Then, what are you?"

"None of your business!"

Son of a bitch. I asked and continued a conversation, but this is what I get?

I grumbled and walked away.

"Where are you going?!"

"Getting out of this forest."

"You can easily get lost in the forest! Thick magical fog will cloud your mind and vision. It's not safe to wander around!" It warned.

"Then, what should I do? Stay here? Live here?"

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"Follow me, I'll help you find a shelter."

"For a rude cat, you sure are kind."

"I have a sense of responsibility. Plus, how do I explain a dead body in my territory? The government will surely throw me away."

"I'll live."

"Drop that arrogance. It'll do you no good."

I could tell it spoke from experience, not that I care. I just remembered what he talked about. Magical? Better to ask.

"What did you say about magical fog?"

"Oh, you don't know? This forest is filled with fog with magical properties, a cursed one too. Once it enters your lung, touches your skin, all kinds of unpleasant effects appear on your body," it explained. "From rashes to delusions, difficulty in breathing and fainting. At least no one has reported to be dead yet."

"Magic?"

"Yes, magic."

"Magic exists?"

"Of course it exists! What kind of world did you live in? A rock? Jeez, after you fell from the sky, I would at least have hoped for a strong mage."

"Magic doesn't exist in my world. Maybe the fog is a type of lethal gas," I shrugged. No way it exists.

"Which world did you even come from? What kind doesn't know magic? Utterly nonsense!"

"Earth," I answered nonchalantly.

"Earth? You came…. From earth….?" It's voice has a sense of fear.

It stopped moving and looked at me. Despite being a cat, it could show emotions. It was scared. It's feet were trembling.

"What's wrong with Earth?"

"Ah- it's nothing. Never heard of 'Earth' anyway," it turned around and continued its path.

"What's wrong with Earth?" I asked again.

"I told you. Nothing is wrong."

You sure are a terrible liar. I was about to press it with more questions and kept asking. But I know I shouldn't. Making them feel uncomfortable would be disadvantageous in a situation like this. I'll try asking it when it has calmed down.

"Oh! Um…. What's your name?"

"Hmmm….. you can call me 'Tsuki'," I answered.

"Tsu….ki….? What kind of name is that? It's so weird!" It laughed.

"Don't have to know."

"It's easier if I call you 'Ki'. Well, my name is Ren. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too, Ren."

How weird….

Yesterday was seemingly normal. I was just researching a new species of plant. Then took the day off.

Suddenly I was struck with strange encounters and it keeps on going.

I entered a blank dimension.

Two body-less entities who always get into fights.

Pushed off from seemingly out of nowhere and falling from the sky. Haven't died, no scratches or wounds. Perfectly in a clean state.

Woke up in another world and met this bitchy cat.

Life couldn't get less tiring than this. I was just going to get breakfast-

Huh? Another world?

That's right. This is not earth. But, Ren seems to talk in perfect modern English. Even those two weird siblings. At first it seemed normal because of the forest, but Ren told me about that lethal, magical fog. Not to mention the fresh water that cured me. Did I-

DID I GOT TRANSPORTED INTO ANOTHER WORLD?!

A MAGICAL WORLD?!

No way, transporting someone to a whole other universe is incredibly impossible. Even an insane person would agree.

What kind of fantasy is this? This stupid trope only exists in light novels! I even hate Isekai-s with their stupid harem and dense protagonist.

If I'm in a story, I would be that one smart sidekick. I'm not fit to be a protagonist, the story would be too boring. I have nothing to lose, nothing to achieve. Maybe except for researching that beautiful plant.

I want to go back!!! This is fucking hell!!!

As if those two would hear my thoughts. They wouldn't even listen to my request when I said I wanted to go back to my apartment. I must survive for now. If I could get in contact, I swear I would scold them. Punching them would be satisfactory if I ever get to meet in person.

Just you wait.

"Aren't you hungry?" It asked.

"Hungry?"

My stomach grumbled. That's right, I was supposed to get breakfast before I got transported here. I had almost forgotten. There were other concerning matters that the thought of eating was pushed aside.

"The cabin is not too far. Hold it in for a few more minutes."

"Sure," I sighed.

My stomach grumbled even louder. My legs felt like it was about to fall apart. It's only been an hour since I last left the house. Maybe more, I did faint.

"You saw me falling from the sky right?" I asked.

"Yes. I wanted to save you but you didn't wake up."

"How did I survive?"

"You slowly descended yourself to the ground."

"Uhuh…."

Another weird encounter. Maybe those two did that. Most probably.

We made our way through the forest. I saw a cliff and decided to go near to see the view.

"What… the… hell…" I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a huge town filled with roads and houses. "Am I in the Victorian era?!"

The houses were tightly packed with a bunch of big houses occupying a large portion of the land. It was almost sunset and a bunch of people started to light up the streets manually. But they didn't use a match, the fire came out of their fingers. Everyone looks like an ordinary human. The women wore dresses and the men wore suits fit for an evening party. It was far away but I could see it perfectly.

"Over here Ki!" Ren called out to me.

"Coming!"

I rushed over and we went down from the cliff. The stone steps made it easier for me to walk with my cramped legs. Behind the tall trees stood a small wooden cabin. The cabin was dimly lit but you could still see where everything was.

"W-wait. There are other living here?"

"Of course there are!"

I started to panic.

How will I introduce myself?

Are there other cats like Ren?

Will they accept me?

Ren seems to be scared of Earth, will they be too?

What would their reaction be if they see me?

I'm a human too so it should be fine.

There are other humans in this world too.

Ah shit, what do I do, what do I do.

"Don't be scared, they're all friendly."

"Are you sure?" I was suspicious.

"I swear on behalf of Goddess Soliel and Holy Duality that they are friendly creatures," Ren puts up its paw.

Creatures-

"I don't trust you," I said.

"Say whatever you want. You'll die in this cold. It's almost winter."

Ren knocked on the door. It opened. Inside felt warm and cozy, it felt a little comforting. I'll just hope I don't make fun of myself.

With a huff, I entered.

To be continued....
