A few seconds of silence followed Logic's explanation as I tried coming to terms with it. I wasn't that unimaginative was I? Seriously? I mean sure I can understand my Demon God's Wrath form having something to do with my impulsive, unconscious behaviors but the fact that my mind had chosen to represent that with a literal war between my logical mind and my instinctive mind was a bit depressing...
[Am I an idiot?] - Rose
[Huh? How would I know that?] - Logic
[Wasn't talking to the figment of Logic in my brain so buzz off! Also why the hell is my Logical brain my old body? Am I trying to tell myself that my current self ISN'T logical?!?] - Rose
[U-Ummm... Are you okay? I mean I know we have a war going on but...] - Logic
[Fuck this! I'm going to vent my frustrations out on those Id shit's! Got a problem?!?] - Rose
[Nope. Have at them.] - Logic
Apparently the name Logic was well-earned as he immediately shut up seeing my anger. Honestly I was tired of all of this already. I felt ridiculed and needed to hit something so I immediately turned to the swarming limbs that had started to surge out of the rift for some reason in far larger numbers.
Quickly readying a Firebolt above my head I added another one to the mix before launching myself into the growing crowd of eldritch horrors.
----------------------------------------
The following few minutes was pure cathartic release as every blow from me reduced the Id creatures into shadowy mist that dissipated after a few seconds. The only problem was... they weren't decreasing. If anything they seemed to be growing in number as I got more aggressive.
Swinging my tail at a group of shadow creatures I vaguely heard someone yelling behind me but ignored them since it had nothing to do with me. At least that was the case until I noticed that all of the Id creatures nearby seemed to be aggregating into a single spot, creating a ever growing mass of arms and legs.
Pausing to stare at the strange sight I didn't notice a large shadowy hand swiping at me from the side but I certainly felt it a moment later as I was launched into the same hill that Logic had been on.
[Ow ow ow! What the shit was that?] - Rose
Pulling myself out of the crater I'd made in the grassy hillock I saw several massive shadow "things" that were making a general mess of things. Nearly the size of a 3 story building and looking like the various Id creature's had upsized considerably I immediately noticed that I was probably pretty close with that assessment. All over the battlefield were growing masses of the smaller Id creatures and I watched as one of those piles merged into the same creature as the one that had launched me away from the battle.
Quickly patting myself down I noticed that while I had hurt immediately after being hit for some reason I didn't feel any pain at all right now and noticed no actual injuries surprisingly.
[Good. You're back. I tried to yell at you to retreat but you ignored me. Glad to see that you made it.] - Logic
[Yeah sorry about that. I was dealing with some... stuff.] - Rose
[You did seem unusually angry for some reason. Are you calm now?] - Logic
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
[Yeah whatever. So what did you want anyway? If it's about those massive Kaiju asshole's I think I've gotten the message.] - Rose
Seeing Logic's face made me both angry and uncomfortable so I was trying to avoid talking with "me" more than I needed to. Unfortunately he shook his head.
[No. That's not it unfortunately. Actually I've been watching the movements of the Id since you've arrived and I think it's connected with you in some way. Their numbers have increased drastically since you arrived and on top of that those larger variants only appeared after you started dealing damage to their forces.] - Logic
[Well maybe they brought out the big guns when they realized that their grunts weren't working?] - Rose
[Based off my observations I doubt that to be the case. In fact I'm fairly certain that your emotions are what drove the expansion... Owner.] - Logic
Taking his hand as he reached down to help me out of the hole I'd made in the ground I immediately stopped pulling myself up as my mouth dropped open in surprise at his last statement.
[Huh? How...?] - Rose
[It's simple really. While the other Ego may not realize it we have never had a visitor before. Based on that there was only a few conclusions I could come to. I've long since realized that this "realm" as the other's call it is actually inside someone's mind. That meant that you were either part of the Id or a new emotion being anthropomorphized.] - Logic
[Uhhh?] - Rose
[It means made more human.] - Logic
[Oh? Wait how do you know that if I don't?] - Rose
[.....should I answer that?] - Logic
Staring at me like I was an idiot he helped me the rest of the way out of the crater as I shook my head slowly before allowing him to continue.
[Ahem! Anyway I quickly came to the conclusion that you were neither based off the reaction from the Id. Putting together the surge in number when you became angry I could only conclude that you were the owner of the mind this is all taking place in. I could also call you our God but we both know you never liked that word.] - Logic
[............How much do you remember?] - Rose
[Of us? Bits and pieces. I'm aware of what I am but as far as memories go I can only guess at where exactly they would be stored.] - Logic
[And how long have you...?] - Rose
[Been aware? I believe it's been 1 hour 49 minutes 14 seconds and counting. I'm not sure how you reached your inner mind but it's logical to assume that however you did so is the reason WE even exist.] - Logic
Motioning all around him when he emphasized the WE I realized that the battle in the valley was still ongoing despite our destruction. In fact the Id creatures looked even more frantic than before as they took down more and more of the Ego representations.
[Shouldn't we?] - Rose
[Ahh right, actually first I have to ask. What exactly are you here to do?] - Logic
[Oh! Well, um... Actually Master Gil sent me in here to gain control of a certain power of mine, he told me to look for anything out of place as he thought that would be where I needed to go.] - Rose
[I... See...] - Logic
Closing his eyes as if in deep thought for a few seconds his eyes shot open again moments later.
[I believe I know how to solve both our problems.] - Logic
[You do?!? How?] - Rose
[Well you see those Id creatures are only a symptom of something much deeper. In fact I believe that it makes no difference how many of them you destroy as more will always take their place.] - Logic
[Okay then how do we stop them?] - Rose
[By taking out their source.] - Logic
----------------------------------------
[Are you sure this is a good idea?] - Rose
[No but it's the only one I could come up with.] - Logic
[Wait really? Aren't you supposed to be smart or something?] - Rose
[Well I think that the blame lies with you as I'm only a fragment of your mind. Now are you ready?] - Logic
[No but do it anyway.] - Rose
After talking amongst myself and I we came to the conclusion that the only way to deal with those monsters was inside the rift they were currently streaming out of. The only problem was the gigantic army of creatures between us and it. It was then that I learned that I'd always been a little reckless cause I found myself resting inside an enormous catapult that had somehow came from nowhere.
I guess the idea was to launch me over the creatures and deal with them from the inside but even for me it seemed like a stupid idea. Regardless I couldn't come up with a another plan besides just fighting my way through the constantly growing tide of enemies which obviously wouldn't work as more and more of them merged into those giants. Giving him the go ahead I braced myself for what I could only assume would be a painful experience.
[Okay. Firing now!] - Logic
Weightlessness. If I had to describe the strange feeling of being shot out of a glorified rock slinger that's what I would use. For some reason the primary feeling from being flung through the air was feeling like gravity meant nothing and I gave a whoop of excitement as I sailed over the panicking Id creatures. Several of the giants attempted to block my flight but only succeeded in tripping over themselves in their haste allowing me to sail unmolested into the rift behind them.
