Seeing the flying girl in that anime pose and hearing her words, Leofric could only utter one word.
"Huh?"
"Ah, probably should give you some time to process it. Go ahead." she said, glasses magically appearing on her while a book appeared in her hand.
"I-I'm fine." said Leofric, getting his bearings back after a few moments.
"You sure? Don't want anything I say to you to be forgotten. You can take some more time if you want." she said, peeking over at him from behind her book.
"I'm good." he said.
"Okay then." she said, glasses and book disappearing, "Like I said I am the Goddess of this world and some other ones, and my name is Elysia."
"Leofric, nice to meet you." he said, sticking his hand out for a handshake which the Goddess happily shook.
"You're a lot less freaked out than I thought you would be." she said.
"I already came to the conclusion that an all-powerful being sent me here, so I'm not super surprised." said Leofric.
"Oh, that whole thing in the forest, right? Well, that saves me some time." she said.
"So, you sent me here?"
"Yes, it was I, that sent you here...to make up for my mistake." she said, hiding her face with her hands.
"Mistake?" asked Leofric, confused at what she meant.
"Yeah, you getting hit by that car, that was a mistake. By me. I was driving. While watching an anime. Sorry." she said, striking that same pose from before.
"What?!" shouted Leofric.
"Like I said I'm really, really sorry." she said, slightly bowing while her hands were clasped together above her head.
"So because of your mistake, I died and now I am here, and sorry is all you have to say?!" said Leofric, getting angry.
"No, it's not all at all! I know I made a mistake, and even though it's very small and inconsequential in the grand scheme of things especially to someone like me, I know it's not small to you!" she explained.
"So is my Job a way for you to make it up to me?" asked Leofric, who had calmed down a bit after hearing the Goddess wasn't going to shirk responsibility.
"Yes! I looked through your memories of your past life and I know you've always had a fondness for Pokemon so I decided to finally give you your dream of training Pokemon!" she said, posing like Ash, with his outfit as well.
"Couldn't you just have sent me to the world of Pokemon instead of here?" asked Leofric.
"No." she said, making an X by crossing her arms, "I'm not in charge of any Pokemon-related worlds. Arceus is and they don't like me very much. Something about being too annoying."
"I get their viewpoint." said Leofric, "But then how will my Job work if this world doesn't have Pokemon? I'm just going to not be able to do anything?"
"You're not going to question how Arceus is real? Shouldn't that be blowing your mind right now?" she asked.
"I'm numb at this point." he said.
"Can't blame you there." she said, "Anyway, even though Arceus doesn't like me very much, I was able to convince them to help me out. And the result of that was this."
At her words, a scroll popped out of nowhere and fell into Leofric's lap.
"A scroll?"
"Not just any scroll, but a scroll where you can play Pokemon Go!" she said.
"What?"
"It's like those novels that were so popular in your world. This is your cheat/golden finger/system." she said.
"How does it work?"
"Since I can't flood this world with Pokemon to make your Job useful, and I don't want to give you a system because that's not fun, I decided to do this instead. How it works is similar to how it works in the game. In important places around this world, there will be Poke Stops where you can get a random assortment of things from them, whether that be fruits, items, Pokeballs, or even Eggs. And only you can see and interact with the PokeStops. And only you will be able to open and understand the scroll." she explained.
"I see, but why go through all that trouble? Why not just give me some Eggs?" asked Leofric.
"Bah, you're no fun. That's boring!" she said.
Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel.
"And this is more like a sign-in system rather than Pokemon Go."
"Ahh, call it whatever you want! That's how I'm making up for my mistake to you! Either take it or leave it!" she said, stomping her feet and crossing her arms in annoyance.
"Fine, I'll take it. Even though I would rather be alive in my world, I am satisfied with this." said Leofric, a smile tugging at his lips at the thought of being able to train and interact with Pokemon.
"Good." she said, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Well, this is where I leave you. I doubt we'll see each other again, so I'll wish you luck on your second life. Live it to the fullest and enjoy. Later."
"Wait, I have one more question." said Leofric.
"What?"
"If you were in my world, does that mean you're the Goddess there?" he asked.
"No, just on vacation. Later." she said, before disappearing with a poof.
"What a colorful personality. Almost makes me feel a little sorry for the worlds she's the Goddess of." said Leofric.
"Heard that." she said, poofing back in.
"Oh, sorry. Didn't think you would be listening to me all the time." he said.
"I'm not and I won't be, I just forgot to tell you some stuff, hehe. There's a Starter Pack that you'll get with the scroll which will let you get right to it. I also wanted to explain how Jobs work since I know you don't have those memories, and who better to get it from than the person who designed the whole thing." she said, looking proud of herself.
"That reminds me, since I'm in this body, does that mean the original owner died?" asked Leofric.
"Nope, that's always been you. You've just been on autopilot for ten years since that's how long it took for your soul to properly adapt." she explained.
"Well that makes me feel a lot better, thank you."
"No problem. Anyway, on to the Jobs." she said, summoning a blackboard behind her and changing into a typical teacher outfit, "At age 10 everyone awakens a Basic Job, which are Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard, Artificer/Craftsman, Citizen. And while some might say that your Basic Job is a manifestation of your deep desires, it's not, it's just random.
Once a person awakens their Basic Job, they will have access to the Skills associated with that Job. And through training and experience, usually over the course of a few years, although the time it takes is dependent on the person, they will eventually be able to advance their class to the next stage, called 1st Advancement.
1st Advancement is a more specialized version of the Basic Class and the variations you are able to choose from are dependent on the person's experiences. So a Cleric who devotes herself to the Church would be able to choose Nun, while a Cleric who devotes themselves to healing would be able to choose Healer or some variation of that. Understand so far?"
"Yes." said Leofric who was paying rapt attention.
"Good. Now there are a total of 3 Advancements with each successive Advancement becoming more and more powerful and more and more specialized and more and more rare. An example of an Advancement path would be Wizard -> Dark Wizard -> Necromancer -> Lich. But since the choices given to you are dependent on your experiences and training, the number of Advancement paths are almost innumerable." she explained.
"I see."
"And finally, above 3rd Advancement is the realm of Master, a realm of absolute strength and power. Anyone who manages to reach Master is undoubtedly a generation-defining figure." she said, unsummoning the blackboard.
"So, any questions?" she asked.
"My Job isn't one of the Basic Jobs." he asked.
"No, it isn't. Very rarely are there people who awaken their Job in their 1st Advancement, which is both a boon and curse. A boon because their starting point is much higher than the rest of their peers and a curse because their Advancement path is specialized from the beginning." she said.
"And I'm one of those."
"Yup. I couldn't break the balance of the whole system just for you." she explained.
"So which Basic Job would I be a part of? Druid?" he asked.
"Ranger. Druids are more inclined toward being one with nature and using nature rather than using creatures to fight for them." she said.
"Okay. Cool." he said.
"All righty then. I'll leave you be. Have fun. Hope you get a good first Pokemon. Later." she said, poofing out of the room once more.
"Seems like this second life of mine is going to be very interesting." mumbled Leofric, a smile on his face, "Now, let's see what this Starter Pack is all about, shall we?"
Picking up the scroll and taking a closer look at it, Leofric realized it looked very similar to the Elder Scrolls except smaller and less shiny.
'That Goddess is definitely an otaku.' thought Leofric as he pulled down on the scroll, and saw that written on the scroll in ink were the words 'Pokemon Go' with a Pokeball drawn under it.
'How does this work?' thought Leofric, as the ink on the scroll melted away and reformed itself to show different options.

Pokemon Go
- Poke Stop
- Pokemon Home
- Inventory
~~~
'Yeah, that Goddess has definitely not played Pokemon Go.' thought Leofric at seeing the options before mentally clicking on Inventory.
~~~
Inventory
- Starter Pack
~~~
Leofric then clicked on the Starter Pack.
~~~
Open Starter Pack?
~~~
'Yes.'
~~~
Received 1 Egg, 10 Oran Berry, 5 Cheri Berry, 5 Chesto Berry, 5 Pecha Berry, 5 Rawst Berry, 5 Aspear Berry, 5 Leppa Berry, 5 Lum Berry, 2 Regular Potions, 5 Pokeballs
~~~
'Alright. Not bad. Would've preferred another Egg, but berries, potions, and Pokeballs are not bad at all. Although, I do wonder if I can use the Pokeballs for other creatures and not just Pokemon. Not like I would be able to tame them, but still, it might be useful somehow. Meh.' thought Leofric, happy with the contents of the Starter Pack before mentally clicking on the Egg which then appeared on his lap.
'Nothing abnormal about it looks like a regular Pokemon Egg.' thought Leofric as he put down the scroll, picked up the Egg, and inspected it.
'Guess, I'll have to wait for it to hatch. Hope I don't have to sit on it like a bird.' he thought as he set the Egg down next to him before picking the scroll back up.
'Pokemon Home is like the PC for when I have too many Pokemon or want them to take a rest. It's a pocket dimension of sorts. Cool.'
After checking out Pokemon Home, Leofric took out one of the berries, potions, and Pokeballs to check them out. The potions, rather than being in a spray bottle, were in a glass vial that fit in with the times, while the Pokeballs were the iconic red and white Pokeballs.
Seeing the iconic Pokeball in real life and having it in his hand, Leofric felt tingly all over. An item from a series that he had grown up with and played for countless years was real and in his hand. And soon, he would have his own Pokemon.
"Thanks for giving me this chance, Goddess." he mumbled.
TLING
Hearing a chime noise, Leofric instantly turned to look at the Egg which he noticed had started to shine.
'Already?!' thought Leofric, slightly panicking at how fast the Egg had begun to hatch.
But the Egg did not wait for Leofric to calm down and it began to intermittently shine before becoming a solid light, which persisted for a few seconds before subsiding. And its place was no longer an Egg but a Pokemon.
"Growlithe!"
