My name is Asani Martin.
Asani means to rebel.
Martin means dedicated to Mars, the god of war, rebellions, and disturbances.
My parents packed my name full of anger and rebellion. If I knew who they were, I would thank them for giving me such a powerful name. Unfortunately, it seemed as if they had never existed.
I was dumped at an orphanage and grew up in the northeastern part of America. When the orphanage director found me, there was only a note with my name and its meaning.
Growing up, I refused to accept the status quo and that I would never achieve anything. That I solely belonged in the bottom rung of society. My rebellion given by name fueled me. I did everything I could do to become successful. As soon as I was of age, I joined a company and became a handyman. Painting houses, cooking, cleaning, delivering goods, and more. If there was a job, available, I did it. During this grueling time, I had no family or lovers and very few people I could call friends. The only thing that kept me sane were the novels I could read during my downtime.

After years of working hard, I finally collected enough money to retire. I had done my part. My rebellion was over. It was time for me to rest. I had finally quit my job and planned to spend my life relaxing. I wanted to enjoy the freedom that I had earned with my hard work. It all seemed to be going well.
Until the day everything changed.
A freak accident killed me, my body was nothing but a splatter after being hit by a vehicle. A truck.
Then I appeared in another space.
I stared up at the being calling itself The Author or God, watching as it laughed at me from its throne. Memorizing the face of the laughing golden figure, I gave a shark-like grin of my own. It had no idea who it messed with.
Keep laughing. Until the day I drag you from that throne, throw you beneath my feet, and stomp all over that face.
My name means rebellion.
I'm not afraid of anyone.
Not even a bitch ass god like you.
