Super Chapter 3- Where things are revealed and a woman escapes.

Raina, Launeior

As Raina glided through the swirling roads of Aurelian, liberally using Air magic to deafen any sounds produced by her and her baby and instituting a constant cover of Chaos to make her invisible, changing the nature of light may be hard, but it was quite useful . Thankfully, her parents had had a just in case location where she could hide for a while, waiting out this wave of change.First though, she would have to get there.

She had already travelled to the central square, her skills carrying her through, now though lied a greater challenge, the gate.

Built to last millenia, it was built by Ansoren Amfec using some of the most advanced Earth magic ever, Primal magic may be inferior to all others in straight up everything, but its sheer simplicity had allowed Ansoren to enchant the gate to such a degree that it had survived nearly three hundred regimes.

Thankfully Raina was not here to destroy the overly sturdy artefact, she was here to fool some guards into opening the gate.

Given the voluntary lockdown, openly approaching the gate was obviously not an option, anyone approaching would immediately alert them. To circumvent this, Raina had devised a rather cliche, but nonetheless effective strategy.

Removing a horn from her pouch, Raina sounded a soundless call, calling upon her ancestral skill [Touch of Nature]. Using the skill was a gamble, while it would not be noticed on first sight, the guards would eventually detect its use and thus connect the next events to the last known descendant of her family, her. But Raina would rather take her chances with the guards than risk a confrontation with her former lover. The risk of her daughter being discovered was too great.

As she was ruminating, the summoned beast had appeared.

“Grade 3 as expected”, she thought. This grade was perfect for her purposes, strong enough to force the guard to open the gates while weak enough that none of the stronger Faction members would pay it much attention.

As she watched, the gate found itself being banged upon by a ninety foot tall monster. The ranged fighters began volley after volley of attacks, causing the sun to be covered by a plethora of colourful magics, from fireballs to chaos spheres, all manner of spells and skills were hurled at the monster. Sadly for the guards, the gap between Grade 3 and Grade 1 was large and without the more powerful commanders coming out, their attacks were ineffective against the monster.

The failure of the volley must have triggered some sort of backup plan for suddenly the wall itself twisted, shooting out spikes that definitely damaged the monster, in retrospect, Raina should have accounted for the wall itself having some defences, it safeguarded the capital after all.

Thankfully Raina had a contingency that she could use in case some powerful ranker just happened to be on the wall when she attempted to escape. Summoning her mana, she activated her final heirloom, its activation ending three centuries of legacy for no one in three generations had been able to activate the skill needed to recharge the artefacts.

As the artefact activated, a ripple spread through reality, folding space as it went forward. Before Raina a tunnel formed leading outside the city. Finally she had escaped the clutches of the past, the only cost was the ruination of centuries of hard work.

----------------------------------------

I was never escaping again! Never, I say! I can not bear another one of Meemauy’s punishments, a full day in the bright glaring sun. It’s rays burning my skin, I swear I must be roasted by now! After all, I was a few shades more red now than I was supposed to be.

Worst thing was, the punishment did not end with that. Meemauy had me eat some very bitter concoctions, though apparently they were healthy? Even if they were, that is no reason to have an innocent baby suffer through them! I refuse to believe there aren’t less tortuous yet at the same time comparably healthy medicines! It just isn’t possible!

Even the system had joined in, soon after I had arrived it had started pinging me, telling me about something that happened in that land of mine, what was its name again? Thankfully, that had Meemauy rushing off, perhaps the notifications were more important than I thought them to be? Wanting to know, I started the administration tag in my interface. I had found the tag a few days ago and had yet to actually use it for anything.

Guess this was the perfect opportunity to test it out?

Well that yielded a pitiful amount of information, perhaps I should try something else? I then looked towards the Library, and the inviting books there, nah, It’s not like Meemauy is gonna let me do anything, better to just sit here and read some books. Wasn’t there some Kingdom Building story here? I bet that would help!

----------------------------------------

Ariana Arlford

Ariana was angry, the baby escaping was one thing, babies do foolish things all the time, it was quite another for the factions of Launeior to not care that a person had item-casted one of the most dangerous spells in existence, in the middle of their city. Granted they did investigate, they just did it individually and by constantly hampering each other. It appeared as if the goal wasn’t to get the item, it was to make sure no one else got it.

Sadly for them, Ariana had never been much for politicking. ‘Time to do away with them’ she thought as she activated the Merit system, causing a notification to appear in front of every adult in the country, asking them to vote on their rulers.

The vote was something of a mixed bag, no single Faction gained enough votes, what Ariana had wanted however was not this, the system had now effectively given her the name and address of every single faction leader in Lauriena, all that was left now was getting them in a room.

Putting a bunch of politicians in a room should be enough to solve the problems right? It didn’t really matter if it didn't, Arianna was going to do it anyway.

----------------------------------------

And it didn’t work, Arianna might have put the Faction Leaders together but that did absolutely nothing except increase paranoia as they all unanimously assumed that it was a trap. No amount of proof convinced them otherwise.

It should have angered Arianna but over the millenia she had grown numb to the utter idiocy of her fellow Banmeru. Expecting this time to be any different was just her sharing in their idiocy. It was just as her husband once said, “It’s like when your neighbour insists on smoking up the yard, you scold him once, twice or even thrice but then you just go and report him because now you can’t even be angry, you just expect it.”

The reference might be lost on her but the underlying meaning was not, it was time to drop the hammer on these perps.

Teleporting to the room she let her aura spread free, letting these arrogant politicians know that she was not to be ignored. As expected, her release of aura caused the bunch of misbehaving brats too liven up

Too bad it wouldn’t help them now.

“Your governance of Laurien has left much to be desired. I had hoped that you would show some progress, that at least one of you would choose to pursue cooperation, but clearly, I set my expectations much too high for what seems to be little more than a bunch of quarrelling brats.” Arianna said

“The only established education system is the one run by the Algrean United Confederacy, and yes we changed the name again. That is not the point here, you good sirs and madams have been oppressing the good citizens of Laurien and it shall continue no more”

“Um...the Algrean United whatever refers to the Algrean United Nations right? The united government formed by all the nations of Algrea?” a single Faction Master that probably suffered from serious Intelligence debuffs, said.

“Yes, that is what I said right? You must have been daydreaming because I also remember saying that the name change was NOT IMPORTANT” Arianna said practically shouting by the end.

“You are all dismissed from your posts and banished from Laurien” Arianna finished, teleporting the Faction Leaders and their assets out of Laurien, leaving the consequences for someone else to deal with.

----------------------------------------

Kingdom building, more like confusion building, what had possessed me to pursue it? It had next to no administrative information and seemed to be more about warfare than building anything, except of course a collection of spouses. Why someone would want so many spouses was beyond me, all they seemed to be useful for was poisoning them with an astonishing variety of poisons.

Nevertheless I did eventually find something useful. Administration and its effects on the populace by Donald Arlford. By the name of the author it seemed to be a relative of mine, perhaps it was misshelved? Maybe I should have seen what shelf it was on?

Ten minutes later

‘I should have seen the shelf’-I thought between sobs- ‘How could they do this to them? No to me? How could they do this to me? This book should be banned! How could they have allowed such incompetence? I should- Suddenly the sadness stopped and I was interrupted by a voice that said “I should have known better than to leave you alone, of course you’d go and read the perma-shelved books.” Meemauy said, sounding genuinely tired.

“Well since you are already awake, let’s just begin your training.”-I tried to interrupt but Meemauy wouldn’t let me-“First we shall train your abysmal wisdom stat, your class should help with that”-she summoned a very large, very intimidating pile of books-

“Your physical stats could also be better, everything but intelligence could be better actually, so we’ll have to schedule that. You can try crawling all over the library, should get you a fairly large number of points.”- she paused, looking at me expectantly and when I did nothing she said- “Shoo”- she made a weird gesture with her hand- “Go, Crawl”

Irritated at her just ordering me around, I took off. I made my way through the Library, not really having any sense of direction. I may have been hoping to run into some secret alcove where I could just hide, maybe read a few books?

Sadly, reality was not my friend today, I found a cascading waterfall with a cave behind it. Good spot, bad for books. The water was afterall a deal-breaker.

It did however make for a stunning scene. The entire waterfall was under a translucent coloured roof that had a chequered circle pattern on it, it led to the formation of a somewhat moving image on the waterfall as it seemed like there were balls of different colours constantly falling down the waterfall

. The wood of the Library also made way for white marble around the waterfall, thought that was...a bit too much? But it didn’t seem to get noticed on the first try either.

Either way I made my way to the cave through a slippery path along the edge of the waterfall, I noticed that it seemed to fall straight to a lower level through a large opening in the floor. After arriving at the cave, I suddenly felt very sleepy, as if someone had drained all of my energy. It might have been best if I had checked my notifications too.

‘So...A Spirit...And some stats? Also why is the system so against my family now? What did we do?’ I shook my head in frustration at the window, I was tired of always not being in the know, always not knowing something important, I needed to remedy that whether Meemauy liked it or not.

Having a goal in mind, I left the cave, ignoring the Spirit and everything else in favour of actually knowing what they were. Sneaking back into an alcove wasn’t hard given that the Library was full of them. It was finding the correct book that troubled me. Till now the only worthwhile reading that I had found was the one given to me, everything else was either enjoyable fiction or useless. The palace library had a filing system that while being the bane of most of its royals was also actually useful, if a bit overcomplicated.

Now I just needed to figure out the filing system. Let’s see this shelf has romance, war fiction, slice of life fiction...and every other fiction. Next shelf, fiction, fiction...Next, still fiction...Next, fiction...Next, fiction...Next, fiction...Next, fiction...Next, fiction...Next, fiction...Next, fiction...This is useless, I just went through an entire alcove and only fictions in sight. System you wouldn’t happen to know what the filing system is?

“Change category, switch to general knowledge” I said, irritated that the system refused to inform me about things like this. I should just blame my family, they’re the ones that pissed off the system.

Wandel, Water Spirit, bonded to a particular baby

Wandel was shocked by the changes its environment had gone through while it was asleep, where once it had been in a dying lake it was now...wherever this was.

The water was strangely moving here, at speeds greater than that of even the fastest fish in the lake, was this a river? No rivers flowed horizontally this was vertical, water was just falling here...falling wasn’t there a really old spirit that had spoken of their being something called a waterfall near the lake a long time ago? Was this that?

As Wandel was ruminating over the existence of the waterfall it found itself being moved away from the waterbody, something that should be impossible for a spirit as young as Wandel but was it still young?

‘That’s a good question’ Wandel thought as it summoned its status ‘How long have I been asleep for?’

Species

Spirit(Water)

Name

Wandel

Age

13 millenia

Titles

The oldest newborn

Abilities

Knowledge Solvent, Soul Bond(Bonded to: Unnamed Alford)

‘Oldest Newborn huh’ Walden thought, he had heard of record titles but had never expected to earn one. If it had not been a Knowledge attuned Lake Water Spirit, a species known for their serene and calm nature it would be feeling something about the sheer amount of time that had passed, instead, it thought of the titles and the knowledge that it may earn from it, not quite anticipating it but instead awaiting it, lazy and inactive after all was another trait of a Water Spirit.

Soon enough though that dream too was lost forever as its journey away from water continued. It was not long before Walden realised that it seemed to be following one being in particular.A humanoid creature that was for some reason, walking on fours, if Wandel remembered correctly that was not how creatures of such kind walked they were usually bipedal, perhaps this was a new species?

The system then pinged Walden and said

Bond Synergy increased: Spirit has detected Bonded

So apparently that four legged humanoid was its bond, at least it should prove a wealth of knowledge for Walden knew next to nothing about four legged humanoids or even humanoids in general.

As Walden watched the humanoid removed a thing, likely a book, from a shelf. Walden had never seen books before, water and these repositories apparently did not go well together. I had often wondered what gains it would receive from one. Now it had the opportunity to find out.

The book was titled ‘Spirits and their kinds’, curious Walden hovered over the humanoid's shoulder in an attempt to read the book.

Spirits are a subject which has fascinated many throughout Algrea for millenia, thus I, Salvator Malruise, shall attempt to shed light on these mysterious creatures.

Millenia ago, Algrea received a large falling block of rock, something we now call comets. It brought about great destruction and wiped out several of the dominant species. On that comet was a nascent species that would come to be known as Spirits.

Ancient Banmeru have tried to justify the spirits presence and place in our society, to some of our ancestors the Spirits were powerful beings that would aid them in return for offerings, we now know that these beings were simply Spirits being lazy and keeping their charges weak, it is highly unlikely that the early Spirits were in anyway greater in power than the early Banmeru.

Moving on to more interesting topics, types of spirits. There are many types of spirits, we shall go through each of them.

First up, the Primal Spirits, useless to the extreme in all but their most unique forms, these are the Spirits I would not suggest anyone bond with.

Nevertheless I shall describe them.

Suddenly the humanoid started flipping through the pages, finally stopping at a page that read.

Finally we have the most useful Primal Spirit. A Knowledge attuned Water Spirit. As explained in previous pages, the attenuation of a Spirit is similar to its class, except that it defines the process by which a Spirit grows instead of the goal it must achieve.

The Knowledge attuned Spirits are Spirits that seek knowledge above all else. They were merely rare until 35000 years ago when the Emperor Lasconiar ordered them extinct to force one of the Oldest of their Kind to reveal the location of Queen Tyrant Alice, one of the three first generation Transmigrators.

In revenge, the Older Spirits destroyed the Empire under the leadership of the Queen Tyrant. Sadly the war ended with the Knowledge attuned Water Spirits extinct. There was for centuries rumour of the Lake of Knowledge where the last of these spirits lived. The rumour was verified to be false by Earl Darvin of the second generation Transmigrators 15000 years ago.

These spirits are however unsuitable for bonding, so it is my suggestion to the reader that if he/she/they were to find one such Spirit then they should submit it to the Glauseus Institute of Spirits, we assure you that you will be rewarded handsomely for the effort.

Suddenly the humanoid slammed the book shut, opened the last page and read something that was written there

Please note that some facts within the book may be inaccurate and should such an eventuality occur, the author takes no responsibility for any damage caused due to the information within this book.

I was frustrated, it seemed as if nothing was going my way. It took so much effort to find a book that actually talked about stuff and then even that was taken away. The bloody book was false! Talk about stupid! Why would anyone write an inaccurate book?Just to trouble me I’m sure!

To make things worse I was constantly feeling as if a presence was hovering over my shoulder. Did Meemauy terrorise me that bad?

Your Spirit Bond, Water Spirit Wandel, is attempting to communicate with you, do you agree to telepathic communication?

Yes/No

Huh, so the Spirit is sentient? Why didn’t you tell me about that system? I’m sure it could have told me what it is! Stupid System! Yes!

“He...Hello?” A voice came through what I now knew to be the bond.

“Hi!” I replied

“I am Wandel, a Knowledge attuned Water Spirit and your bonded Spirit. I just wanted to tell you that most of the book is accurate, just some parts may not be…” Wandel nervously said

“Thanks! Mind telling me what those parts are” I said trying to be friendly

“Su...Sure! Could you not shout at me please…” Wandel said seemingly retreating from me

“Oh, I did not know I was shouting,” I said, trying to be milder in thought.

“ You were…”Wandel said in a nervous voice, “Anyway...the only thing straight up wrong is the knowledge about the Lake of Knowledge, the first part that explained all the Spirits history was also not completely accurate...I suspect that some of the history was rewritten or ignored...the rest is accurate.”

“Thanks for the info the Wandel! It was very helpful!” I said trying to once again sound cheerful and friendly, hopefully I succeeded.

----------------------------------------

Wandel observed the humanoids' reactions and absorbed the knowledge it gained from them. Back in the lake it had learnt that humanoids tend to be more sympathetic to those that sound nervous or sad when compared to those that seem calm and happy. Walden had thus imitated being nervous in an attempt to gain the humanoid's sympathy. With the knowledge it had contributed it should also have its trust.

Perhaps giving some advice on training would also increase that trust? Trust was essential to any relationship and since bonds were for life, Wandel would have to increase the trust the humanoid had on it.

Deciding that it should increase trust, Wandel said, “You’ve been trying to train right? Well I have some advice for you on that…”

“Oh! Please do give it! Especially if it's about running a Kingdom or atleast a County.” The humanoid said, putting Wandel in an awkward position. Wandel knew nothing about Kingdom building, it had never been in a position to learn.

“Um...I don’t know anything about Kingdoms...I am still a newborn…” Wandel said, after all humanoids liked reasons right?

“Oh” was the only answer it got. It had no idea how to continue the conversation.

Thankfully it didn’t need to, Meemauy barged into the conversation with her usual heavy presence and said, “So this is where you ran off to..How’d you hide from me?” she asked

“I didn’t?” The humanoid answered

“Oh, then do tell me little one why exactly were you invisible to the frankly extensive tracking system I activated after your first escape attempt.” Meemauy said matter of factly.

“I did fall asleep in that cave behind the waterfall…” The humanoid answered

“You found your way to that pesky cave did ya?”-her voice grew milder-“I don’t know why my husband didn’t put a timer on it, you didn’t get some spirit or something did ya?” Meemauy said jokingly

“I did! It was a Knowledge attune-” The humanoid began saying before being interrupted by a sudden burst of aura, it covered the entire room, forcing Walden into its ice form which was picked up by Meemauy.

“Did Narvin know?” Meemauy demanded

“Kno..Know what?” The humanoid hesitantly said

“That you are a transmigrator.” Meemauy said her voice stern

“Yes, he’s the one who told me.” The humanoid said, surprisingly it was already recovering its strength, what exactly was a transmigrator that one of them could just ignore the aura being released from this powerful a creature after a few minutes

“I’ll deal with that b*****d later, now for you. Who exactly are you? And what is the reason you hid the act that you were a transmigrator from me?” Meemauy demanded.

“I didn’t? I thought Narvin would have informed you of it? Or that you’d at least know since Narvin knew automatically?”The humanoid replied, growing in confidence.

“And who are you? Why did you come to Algrea? You know what I can’t trust any answers you give me.” Meemauy suddenly said as a bright, metallic sky blue light shot out of her hand.

----------------------------------------

Arianna Arlford

As Arianna watched, her mind attack drilled through Narvin’s shield. It still irritated her that the stupid beastkin still wouldn’t apolagise for his actions all those years ago. It was time for some things to be forgotten but they could not be if a certain someone didn’t apologise for them. Now he’d done this. The third generation of transmigrators had arrived and he’d done this. Had he even thought of telling her? Telling her that the world that they’d created together was about to be thrown into chaos? Probably not.

Finally the seal was broken and Arianna had about a minute before Narvin arrived. Quickly she cast her spells, willing her magic to summarise the life of this...this whatever it really was.

She saw it being made in a building of some kind being made by people who had suffered the very same abuse she had, slavery. And then she saw it being used to destroy the slavers, something she took great joy in. It did bring her great sorrow however for she knew what awaited these people, just like her seventeen millenia ago she saw them being betrayed except they did not have the advantage of an overpowered transmigrator on their side.

They were quickly overcome and a palace built using the bricks from the previous regime, including the one whose memories she was seeing. Though the regime said they destroyed the bricks as consolation to the rebelling slaves, in truth they were too stingy and just destroyed regular bricks.

Through the memories she saw the rise and fall of empires, kingdoms and their like. There was only one thing connecting them, they were all unequal and highly stratified societies.

In the end a single society that praised equality appeared, the brick hated it however. Arianna suspected that it was not the principles of the nation that the brick disliked, no it was far more likely that the brick disliked the loneliness that came with their abandonment of the palace.Though the brick had been alone for millennia it had at least enjoyed the comfort of the politicians, servants and other humanoids that trafficked under it. Now it did not even have that. It was lonely. Arianna felt pity for the being, having been created to be little more than a showpiece, it had been held in captivity alone and suffering for millenia.

Within her the part that still felt for those that were lost to slavery before it was abolished awoke again. Before she had been angry at Narvin for not telling her about the kid, now she was thankful for it. Narvin, for all his power, was still a novice at Mind magic, he would never have been able to form a complete or coherent picture from the kid’s memories, he would certainly not have thought to look deep in the mind realm for hidden memories, which the brick had aplenty. Arianna on the other hand always did it, hidden memories had the best secrets after all.

Now, she had a decision before her, what to do with one transmigrated brick?

----------------------------------------

I shall not forget this! Never! For things beyond my control you Meemauy have cursed me to this task. You are a cruel, unfeeling mistress that knows not the suffering of the younger generation. You do not understand how utterly boring holding a simple spell construct for 24 hours is. And you are definitely unaware of greatly demoralising the doing of these everyday all day, even during sleep. I have been doing this for two weeks, and not a single level or stat in sight, only thing I got was the ability to maintain constructs in my sleep.

Well that and this skill

Skill gained!

Mana wringer: Forgoing the more complex magic you have taken to wringing the greatest power and efficiency from the simplest of spellforms, perhaps in time it may even reap you rewards

A useless skill if I ever saw one, perhaps you may reap rewards’, more like ‘I have no idea why you bothered to do this’, the system seems to have become oddly placatory in this notification. Perhaps it feels sorry for me?

Sadly I had no time to think about if the System feels sorry for me or not. I had to go on my daily jog through the Library, after the incident with the cave, I had been provided with a set course that I was to follow. It had markers along it that I was to click to ensure that I maintained speed and strength, what it did not account for was the fact that I was faster than Meemauy gave me credit for, I had taken reading breaks at every station, making up with my increased speed. Intelligence points for a win!

After my jog, where I read thirteen chapters of ‘The world renowned Alchemist from nowhere’ It was snack time! Time to entertain myself with some tasty treats!

I arrived at the cafeteria, which was as usual deserted, where was everyone? The buffet table was served today with , Boiled eggs... pass, Pancakes, maybe...Waffles! Why yes please! Ooh warm, dripping with hot chocolate waffles...with a sugary upper layer… oh so sweet so delicious looking...oh I must eat it! I extended my hand towards the treat when I was hit by the greatest shock ever! The force barrier shock! And then a voice sounded out, “Caught you, you little ragamuffin! Stealing my waffles I see, go eat your boiled eggs quietly”- Meemauy flicked me to the boiled eggs station- “yumm, yumm, These are some fine waffles aren’t they?” Meemauy said continuing to make sounds that were...so so irritating that they just made me want to throw the egg in her face, sadly that was not an option and I would have to make do with eating them.

But on that moment I decided something, I was going to escape, escape this prison and roam the world. But first I needed to find a way out. Time for some good old information gathering! Wait I forgot something...the Water Spirit! I could ask the Water Spirit! But how would I meet him? Meemauy had confiscated it after the event two weeks ago and I hadn’t seen it after that. Guess I’ll just have to use normal books.

After snack time it was meditation time, and that was when I was going to begin. First I was going to create a spatial construct, granted maintaining two constructs at once was hard but I could probably do it right?

Summoning my will I willed space to bend about a specific point, creating a nearly complete perfect sphere with only a small portion of the top part open to let things in. Why was I doing this? Because this construct was what I would use to carry the things I would inevitably need on such a journey, some snacks, a fair amount of money etc would be needed. I had seen a lot of princesses and even princes run away with these things and never return. I was sure that I too would succeed in this endeavour that I was about to attempt now. Perhaps I would return with an army by my side like that prince of the Selnore Coalition that won a Duke’s support while on the run.

Now for the next part, filling the bag with valuables, food and utilities. That did have me asking one question, what exactly was the currency here? I’ll have to check...add to the check in library list. Next where could I get utilities, thankfully I’d grown out of peeing or I’d have to source diapers. But I would need survival gear, fake identity cards and what else? Let’s see...Oh a map! And some navigation tools! Add those to the list.

Let’s look at information now, I would need information on the political landscape, try to find a place where it would be hard for the Alfords to find me, maybe in their enemy’s land? Then I would need information on the government structure, if in the future the Alfords found me, which country would protect me? Which wouldn’t? I also had no idea if Launeior was an option since technically I could just hide there but given that it was under Alford control it was unlikely that I would be able to hide there, at least until I turned 18 and had administrative powers. That’s it! My plan for adult life is to run Lauriena!

I could just imagine it, me the dishonoured son of a noble house taking back what rightfully belonged to me from the cruel and uncaring Alford family. I would be the righteous young noble that shed light on the doing s of these ancient noble families!

I could just imagine the praise and adulation I would receive, I would be the favoured one of- “So, slacking off are we?” Meemauy said, interrupting me.

I just stared at her, not deigning to answer.

“Since you won’t reply, I’ll just presume that the answer is yes, time for some extra work then! You are to now keep two constructs on...Except you are already doing that, thinking of escaping are we?” Meemauy said, grinning evilly by the end of it, “So, you are not satisfied with me providing you with food, shelter, a massive Library of information, quality training, and my love. No, you want more! Really child what is it that you want so much that you want to sacrifice all of this for it?”

“Waffles!” I replied.

Raina, a hidden bunker, Lauriena

With a woosh Raina arrived at the bunker. Set up 300 years ago the bunker was supposedly in disarray, having been neglected for centuries, instead Raina found herself in a veritable home. Where there should be cold metal, there was a lush, brightly coloured carpet. Where darkness should prevail was instead inhabited by bright lighting. It was obvious that the bunker had, sometime in the last 3 centuries, gained an inhabitant.

Now to check if said inhabitant was hostile, or simply a poor soul that had taken shelter from the tyranny of the Factions.

Knowing that soon her baby would wake up and demand food, Raina summoned the courage to approach the possibly inhabited interior of the bunker.

Through the wrought iron door that guarded the entrance, she could see a brightly lit room, decorated with chandeliers made of...was that mana glass? Why make chandeliers of mana glass? It would just dissolve back into mana in a few hours. But that was not the point was it? No, the chandelier added presence to the room. Clearly the inhabitants of the room had an abundance of mana and a taste for luxury, a combination that Raina had only seen in one man before, the Omnitac Alfor, City Lord and Faction Leader of Anrin.

Raina may have thought more along that line if not for an extremely young voice calling out to her, saying

“Lower your baggage and raise your hands, nice and high Lady, there will be no need for violence unless you give me one.”
