Day 1(Ethan)
“This is the Magic District of Auburn City.” Ethan’s guide Vista pushed his Ful Vue glasses up and introduced his favorite place in the entire capital of Rasmodéus City.
“Magic District…” Ethan looked up and took in the quiet scenery of the place. Somehow, it reminded him of his lab back on Earth. As much as he downplayed his job in front of his friends, it wasn’t really that bad. He liked the quiet atmosphere and how he could study and research forever. Learning new things will forever be an exciting and joyous experience for Ethan Field.
So, despite his initial despair and depression at learning that he could perhaps never return to his father on Earth, he chose to console himself with the fact that there was magic in this new world- something new he could learn, and something with mysterious and endless applications. And in Issac and Ray’s fight, while he understood Issac’s reasoning and feelings, he still sided with Ray. Since they’re stuck here, they might as well enjoy it.
With this new optimistic mindset, he followed his guide, Vista to the Magic District. And as they walked through the quiet and orderly streets of the Magic District, Vista revealed various tidbits and lore about the city and the district they were in.
“The Library of Eólas? Let’s go there immediately!” Ethan, overcome with excitement, ran forward.
“Wait, Sir Ethan! You’re going the wrong way!” Vista ran behind him and managed to guide him the right way with a bit of difficulty. But that didn’t change as Ethan continued to run even after learning the right way. After a whole lot of running, the two finally reached the library.
It was a magnificent building made of stone bricks and with white-tiled roofs. It looked like a cathedral, which held some weight as this library was renowned among the citizens of the Rasmodéus Kingdom as the ‘holy land of knowledge for common people.’
“Sir Ethan, I -haah- introduce you to the Library -haah- of Eólas!” Vista spoke as he huffed.
Ethan’s eyes shone brightly as an unconscious murmur leaked from his lips, “Brilliant…!”
He made a beeline towards the entrance- two stained glass doors without hesitation. Contrary to his expectations, there were no guards in front of the gate. He felt a bit angry at this negligence. A library with this fame and resources should be guarded.
Ethan decided to let go of such a ‘minor’ mistake and headed through the doors. Immediately, a strong smell of books and ink assailed his nostrils. He could see many people taking books off the shelves, reading on the benches, or standing and reading near the shelves. There were four more floors as well, but by the sounds, the first floor had the most people.
Despite how eager he was, Ethan was still clearheaded. He went up to an older man who sat behind a counter, presumably the librarian, and knocked on the counter to get his attention. The old man looked up from the book he was reading and looked at him with an emotionless expression.
“Are there any children’s books on the history of this world?” Ethan asked with a bit of embarrassment. And his decision was the right one. All children’s books usually have a summarized and simplified version of historical events or mythologies. If he was going to get the basics of this world down in the fastest time possible, then a children’s book would be enough for now.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
The old man lifted his bony finger and pointed at the second left-most row of shelves, “Second row, 2G.”
“Thank you,” once he heard what he needed, he quickly left with Vista behind him. Coming to the second row, he promptly found 2G where many children’s books were kept. As he perused the books, he muttered the titles under his breath, “‘Eólas and the Hippodile,’ ‘Man’s Beginning and Teine,’ ‘Mizu and the Lost City of Riverra,’ ‘The Creation of Our World, Mir [Part-I],’ ah, here it is!”
He took out the book titled ‘The Creation of Our World, Mir [Part-I]’ from the shelf and sat on a nearby bench. Vista asked him if he was going to stay there. After Ethan affirmed that he would stay here for quite a while, Vista left, saying he would get something to eat and bring him something. Ethan nodded and began reading.
The book read-
“In the beginning, there was nothing except the eternal night sky, the infinite space, and constantly flowing time. After a long, long time, Àite, the Primordial God of Space, became sad about the emptiness within him. Wanting to fill the void himself, he thought of filled space, or rather, his dozens of mega annum worth of thoughts gave birth to Mir, our physical world, and Sunne, the being that lights up our world. Besides having His huge physical form, Mir also had a celestial form that He would use to walk on His vast self.
The physical form of Mir is what all of the species that exist today, live and thrive on. Anyway, after Mir’s creation and a mega annum of time passed by, He too came across the same problem as Àite- He felt empty inside. So, after a hundred millennia, Mir’s will gave birth to trees- living, breathing but stationary beings capable of sustaining themselves through His breath and the light from Sunne. Yes, the air we feel around us and breathe is actually Mir breathing! And Mir, the genius He was, gave these trees a new and novel feature. They could copulate and reproduce more of themselves and spread across his body. This way, he need not expend his will to spread them manually.
Mir, now satisfied, continued to observe these new beings He called ‘plants.’ But again, after a while, He grew bored of these plants. They did not move and just stood rooted to the ground. So, then He decided to create new lifeforms that both could move and reproduce. But He removed the self-sustaining ability from these new lifeforms just for fun. Mir created humans, demons, monsters, animals, dwarves, elves, devils, and angels and gave them differing characteristics.
After doing so, Mir watched His new creations with interest for a very short while (a millennium) before growing bored again. These new beings did nothing but fight, build, live in fear, worship mundane things, and use other beings around them. It felt pretty repetitive, honestly.
Finally, Mir understood that simply these beings that were like ants to Him were very dull. He now knew that what He needed was someone He could see as a peer and not someone that could be easily killed just by Him not breathing. So, He made a request to Àite to create someone He could spend the rest of His life with, and He wanted it now!
Àite, who was pestered by Mir, finally caved in and, with the help of his lover- Uair, the Goddess of Time, created Moone, the Goddess whose graceful silver form we see every night in the sky. Now satisfied with his lovely and elegant new wife, Mir stopped paying attention to what was happening to his body and spent all his time with the celestial form of Moone.
Back on his physical body, the different species began worshipping and creating many things. Their hopes and wills birthed many more Gods and Goddesses who now keep our world in balance and grant us their 『Blessing』.
And from that point onward till now, is how the world we came to see was created.
To see what humans and the other species did next, read [Part-II].”
Ethan closed the book and stared into space for a good fifteen minutes before muttering in disbelief, “…what the fuck did I just read?”
