Chapter one: Awakening

Evangeline Dela Cruz,Our Grade 9 representative on SSG(Supreme student council).She is one of those girls that are hardly to find,like example,Lone wolf meets Friendly Rabbit,Lone wolf didn't eat Friendly Rabbit,they became friends,The end.Eva was a friendly girl on our school, that's why she became our representative on grade 9 but her first friend was me,You know the lone wolf I mentioned In the story,When I was in 7th grade,I was just isolated person as I was today, Quiet but will talk in needed,My first friend was her,Eva,the first we had met was in School Enrollment,by the time I got to the for registration,She was next to me.At that time,I noticed that she was thirsty,I kindly ask her "Miss want some?" I handed my water bottle to her.

"Oh,thank you, I didn't drink enough water while I was heading here.Anyway I couldn't just take my place in here.Thank god, someone like you is very kind." She quickly drank my bottle until there was nothing left,as if there were no water inside it.

"Huh,you really drink that much,I guess."

"Eh,hehe I'm really sorry."

She made a cute grin on me.

After the registration process,I was about to go home,until she called and catches me up.

"Mr.bottle-generous-cute-handsome looking guy pls. WAIT!"

"Ooooh hey." I greeted.

"Oh hey,humph humph." She catches her breath.

"And what is you're intention?" I asked.

"Oooh,can we be friends?" She asked suddenly.

"You asked me to be friends with you?" I asked confusedly.

"Yes,it seems I really to be friends with a stranger who handed me a bottle of water during that I was thirsty like I ventured out to find water I guess." She made an awkward joke,I guess.

"Okay, let's be friends,so what now?" I asked.

"So tell me about you?" She asked ñ.

"Well,I just moved here in Manila in a few weeks ago." I answered.

"Mmmmmph,Well I lived there in the villas near the Pasig rivers." She said.

"Oooh,I'm in the opposite part,in the squatter's."

"Oooooh,I suppose we're neighbors.Hey wanna have lunch? My treat." She requested.

"Ah yeah of course." I agreed.

After we knew that we we're classmates,She was excited having me.After being so social she made new friends on our classroom,even we Don't talk to much,I like seeing her making friends.

"We haven't talk too much aren't we?" She asked.

"Well yeah,I guess, It's been a while that we have talk,so yeah."

"I really didn't see you like that,that other side of yours."

"Well,you really don't know me at all."

"How could you do that,you literally beat him up madly."

"I was just pissed off,I always hated those kind of guys,those one who has plastic attitude."

"Can't you just control you're anger?"

"But why did you beat him?" She was giving me sermon,her eyes were worrying,I didn't see her worry me even though we we're not that close.

"Don't look at me like that, You're making me worry so much."

"It's just that,I didn't get to know you more.Remember when we first met,the time you gave me water when I was thirsty."

"Yeah,I remembered that."

"Hey,can you make a promise to me?" She asked.

"Of course,what is it." I answered.

"Could you be my friend,again."

"What do you mean,we we're friends already."

"Oh,but I want to learn more about you,I want you to be my best friend."

"Okay,okay.You're free to learn me,I could be best friend forever,so play…….Pinky promise?" I asked.

"Promise." She agreed.As we wrapped our pinky fingers,she smiled at me.

"Anyway,I discovered that the pinky promise was originally a promise where the pinky is cutted when one of the person breaks the promise." I mentioned horribly.

"Huh,wait,no!,aaaaah you meanie."

"Haha,yeah it's actually true you know."

As we laughed at my joke,we realized that we need to go detention to settle the matter.Darren's friend defended him as if I was started the fight and it was true that I started the fight.

"Wait you admitted it?" One of Darren's friends asked.

"What would I have to do,Lie that Darren punch my face first,No I punched him first and the reason that I was pissed off.Anyway you were the one who tried to stope right,When you had the chance to knock me off,you had right? But you didn't.You we're afraid of me,even though I am an introverted guy,I could have the right to punch someone face off because of getting detention to,but you all of you,You were just frozen when I'm beating you're friend over and over again that's why you couldn't do anything cause you're just a follower to him not a friend,You need him for some reasons,to be famous in school,to improve you're social status or just be popular to girls because all of you have to do is to follow him,you didn't see yourself in the mirror,all you see is the fake you,the Darren you,in other words you're imitating him." I just said all of my regards to them it was all of backlash I could speak out of them.

They we're speechless,they couldn't say anything,not even mumbling.

"Alright, that's all of it,So the two sides have their own opinion,So say sorry now." The teacher reported.

"Sorry for being nuisance." Four of his friends apologizes.

I quickly go to my classroom to catch up my lessons.As I entered my classroom,My classmates were ignoring me,well I guess they don't disturb me anymore.

As sit to my desk,Karen was staring at me and suddenly ignores me.

"Hey." I asked.

"U-uuh what is it Daniel?"

"What lesson are we learning today?" I asked.

"Ah,Math,about Quadratic Equations."She answered.

"Oh,thanks."I thank simply.

"You're not mad."

"Why would I be mad?"

"Well you know,about that fight with Darren."

"Ah yeah,I got to clean the whole gym tomorrow for the punishment."

"Oh." She suddenly gone quiet after I said my punishment,I knew she finds it boring.

After our afternoon lessons,I finished my Chores in the classroom so I could go to work now.

"Aaah that was relieving,I should go to work now."

"Hey!" Someone called me.

"Huh,who are you?"

"Huh,oh I'm sorry I got the wrong person." As I've stare at him,he was in combat like uniform with a backpack carrying something heavy,The man was the same age as me,15 years old.He was in black shorts on the bottom,he wears a tactical tight pants much like in the army,he was also wearing a black sando and a black shoes.

"You're quite a weird person, what's with all the black fashion?" I asked.

"Ah,nothing,you know, fashion aesthetic."he answered while smiling.

"Oh,I thought you were bereaved and visit someone who is dead."

"Oh haha, you're quite a joker,anyway where does Santino School is?I'm kinda meeting with someone." He asked where my school is.

"Just cross four blocks in there you'd find the school(he seems suspicious as I've imagined.)"

"Thank you,I hope we meet again." He said.

"Oh,yeah of course bye."

Even though he was strange looking,I ignored it and just go on my work.

But then something triggered my sense while I was washing dishes from the Karenderya.I just remembered my dream.

"Something's not right,I gotta go to School now." My instincts was calling me,it was chilling out of my bones,it gave me goosebumps again.

I relentlessly borrowed a bicycle to my friend in the Karenderya and fastly pedal the bicycle as fast as I could.As I got closer to the school the tension was getting bigger,The Goosebumps starts growing,My stress was getting bigger too,I sweated as I pedal fast,I know something is not right,I know this day will be 50/50.One will be somei ordinary and all of it was just a thought and two it's something more Bizzare and unexpected.

As I climb into the gate, I've seen shoe track on the ground and I noticed that the windows we're now broken as were they entered by some robbery,but it wasn't,it was the school,they were no money in the school..

In curiousness,I entered the school,it was all a mess,they we're scratches on the table, chalkboard and in the walls. They were mud tracks too.My heartbeat start beating so fast.

As I ventured on the school,it was all the same thing,the scratches and the mud tracks.

Until I heard something is walking,it was more like a feet than a shoe.As I try to see it, something was scaly and oily,that something has reversed feet,it was holding something,And my eyes became tinier after I've seen a gory scene ,it was a head of a student more much like a girl,it was Karen's head.Now my mind was shocked and I couldn't move due to fear and scared until it notice me,as it show it's face, they were no eyes,just a mouth full of fangs.

It was heading onto me and I also couldn't move,I didn't want to die but it was something I couldn't do.The monster was ready to eat me, opening it's mouth to me,ready to swallow my head.I was scared.

At that moment, someone behind me,jumped on the wall, Summons an Axe mixed with a sword,with his two hands,He slashed the beast into two pieces.

"You saved me." I thanked.

As I see his face and his full body on the light of the moon,I noticed he was the same person,that was asking directions on me.

"Oh,hey it's me." He grimly smiled at me like it was nothing to him.

As I was looking at him,staring.There was blood covered all over his black suit,mainly all of the monsters guts were scattered due to the blow he gave to the monster,as I was looking in confusion,I think of myself on something."is this real?" I snapped back to reality.It was just true all of this are true,I have thought my life would be just simple but it was not.The boy looking at me in disappointment

"Dude,are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah,I suppose." I answered.

He helped me stand up,My face was pale as white.My body has been freezing into fear.I couldn't walk.

I started looking at him again. He just strangely smiled at me like it was nothing.He shouldn't have warned me to escape from the school and let himself handle the monsters,but he just helped me walked where the monsters are.

"Anyway, why are you here,there must be a reason why you are here?" He surprisedly asked me.

"I'm finding my friend here,I sense something strange when I was at my Working place.It was strange but I saw this coming, something like a prediction or more of an realizition to me.Uggggh this is too much for me,weird and bloody things is too much for me,what is this,Am I dreaming?" It was such a burden to me,but still i couldn't trust him,he was much of a mysterious person,I couldn't tell him about that.

"I'll explain to you everything after we survived this but I'll tell you what are these monsters are called "Reversed foots",some tribes in Tinguian called this "alan" as you can see they've become more of a beast than they ever have,they lived in mango in day and in night will find and hunt some food,us humans, that's why we declared to exstinct.We believe the more they breed the more the massacre will be,so I was assigned to kill the last batch." As he explained,I discovered he was like a hunter by the night,like I've seen in tv shows,pedro Penduko has this situations.

"So you clearly hunt monsters like these?" I asked.

"Yes exactly, that's why I'm here to help you." He answered.

As we ran through the school,we suddenly encountered another monster.I suddenly stopped and ran back.

"Fuck, I'm going back." But suddenly another was coming to me.

"Hey watched!" He warned.

"Oh shit!" As I crouched down in the monster,the mysterious boy suddenly beheaded it's head.But the impact was so big that the other monster in front was coming and ready to eat the boy.Due to fear and my instinct,I had no choice but to catch the sword like axe and push the boy away from the monster and I suddenly threw the weapon into the monster's head,thank to luck and my brute,it happens I killed the monster in the right time,as I realized they were blood stains in my clothes.

"I really gotta wash this after I don't die." I said

"Hahahha, you're an interesting person,say,what is you're name dude?" He asked happily.

"Daniel Domingo, You?" I answered and asked.

"Luke,Luke Gonzales,Thank you for saving me." He said.

"Yeah, it could've cost my life if I didn't throw that axe and hit it luckily." I demanded.

"Oh come on, I've saved you're life two times."

"Yeah Yeah,I guess you saved me back there."

For a moment we taken a break and was ready to find Eva but suddenly. "Kyaaaaahhhhhhhh." I heard her voice, screaming.

"Is that you're friend?" Luke asked.

"Yeah,We gotta hurry!"

"I don't think, I'll be going with you." He said.

"Wait,why?" I asked confusedly.

As I looked in the front,They were more four of them, eating a janitor of our school.It was bloody but now,I was ready on not to puke.

Luke handed me his back up weapon,a bolo.

"Wait what is this?" I asked.

"You gotta need this,I got this four,just go!" He said.

"You sure?" I asked again.

"No,but it will take you time!"

"You,shit, Don't die on me." I said.

"Yeah,yeah, anyway friends?" He asked.

"Yeah, Friends." I answered.

"I'll distracted them,just slide on the floor okay!?" He instructed.

"Yeah,i got it." I understand.

As the four monsters was coming to us,I suddenly and slides under them.Luke suddenly kills one and I pass them.It was good luck to him,If we will be friends, I'll be glad.

As I ran where the scream is,I noticed it was into the gymnasium.I remembered that Eva told me earlier,she said she isn't coming with me coming home, because the SSG is preparing something on the upcoming event this month, and I think it will be cancelled.

As I finally entered into the gymnasium,I witnessed something horrifying.The president was eaten by one of the monsters,as I've imagined it,it was like a cat catching mice and it violently,as they watch the bloody show,the flesh,the clothes,it was real and horrifying the eyeball of the president was thrown out as the head was crushed out,eaten by the monsters,as I was seeing it,it made me scare again, trembling, holding my bolo,I got chickened out,as the eyeball was rolling into me and stopped the eating was also ended,the monster noticed me,as I look at Eva as she looked at me,I signaled her to escape but it didn't work,she got so scared andlost her consciousness,some of her companions cried out,the monster suddenly attracts to them,I didn't have a choice but to try to kill it as I jumped into the monster,I stabbed it's back directly with my bolo,in surprised and fright, It's head suddenly turns around like an owl.It suddenly grabs me and tried to kick it but it didn't have an effect,he suddenly open it's mouth and swallowed me.

As I couldn't believe on what happened to me,I was falling.I guess it was my end.

I remembered a strange answer to my grandpa,it was a forgotten memory of my childhood

My grandpa said:

"If the nature and above space,gives you something that is to save something precious, something precious that you need to treasure so it won't break.If it will break and lost,you find it or find another one."

"Strange." I said.

"Could there really be something precious i need to protect?" I asked myself in falling.

And as I realized.

"No there is no one.I need to find one."

As I was about to fall on the acid on the stomach.My left hand suddenly burns so fast that is freaking hot,it was not ordinary flames but blue flames,It formed a tattoo or a mark on me.

And as the monster's ready to eat the other SSG members,the spot wherein the bolo was thrust was going inside.The monster was acting strange,it was troubling something on its tummy and then the stomach exploded where organs,the heart, intestines,lungs,liver we're scattered.The students wonder what happened.As they look closely.They expected it was their charming president but it was only me.With blood, Unmelted human flesh covered in me,it was now I didn't cared it anymore.

As I noticed it,the tattoo was still in my arm and appeared a swarming,dozens of monsters on me.

As I hold my bolo,I didn't about how to attack them,I was in that carelessness mode, nothing really mattered to me now,even if I have this weird gift,I guess I'll end up dying in here,but still the goal I need is enough me to keep living.

"Uh,shit!" I shouted.

As the monsters were coming right at me,it was also ignoring the other students,it was targeting me.

As I jumped,I thrust the tip into one of the monsters,I counted one.

"Usa." Means one.

Then I directly go down to hack the legs of the other one.

"Duwa." Means two.

Suddenly another one tried to attack me,but I also give it a blow to the head, slashing it.

"Tulo." Means three.

As I've into the next monster to the other one,the blood splashed.kinda grossed.Legs and arms and also head.I counted on how many I killed.

"Apat,Lima,Onom,Pito,Walo,Siyam,Sampo,Onse,Dose,Trese,Katorse,Kinse,Dise-Sais."

There were many,but still I didn't stopped killing.

"17,18,19,20,21,22,23,23,24,25,,26,2,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43,44,45,46,47,48,49,50,51,52,53,54,55,56,57,58,59,60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73,74,75,76,77,78,79,80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89,90,91,92,93,94,95,96,97,98,99,100,101."

101 was the last number i counted.

"Is still more!?" I asked loudly.

As I look closely,I saw a cute version of the monster,with it's cute little feet,cute eyes and a cute baby,it made me wanna feel sorry for it……..

As I tried to kill it,it became a normal size of it,just like the others it was strong.It push me very strong that it threw me in the wall.

"Ugggggggh,fuck,why do cute things turns to something terrible!"

"Kwashhhhhhhhkkkkkkkkrkkkkkkrrrrrrrk."

It suddenly shouts that voice.

"Let's end this shit."

As I shouted into it,I strategically cuts it's hands as it just try to grab me.I stepped out a little just to avoid the attacks,As it was trying to kick in the right leg,I dodge it and slashed it through.It suddenly slaps my chest and smashed into a wall again,as it tries to grab me, I've taken the opportunity to suddenly hacked it and punches it very hard.the blow was a chance but until I tried to grab the opportunity to stab it.A hand appeared on its center of the chest and tried to stop it and suddenly the leg turned into a sharp like tail.I tried to stop but it was too late.

It stab my upper chest and as I try to stop it with my feet,The pain never stops.My bolo stabbing the hand letting go on my grip,the blood spilled on it was something troubling.

But I had only one chance.

The mouth was trying to open,the monster was trying to eat me.

My hands we're trembling…………

"FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

blood splattered…

And then first thing came into my mind…

Why am I awake?

Why am I alive?

Why am I in the hospital?

Oh shit,i need to pay the bill?
