Step by step he walked up the hall, led side by side by two guards. Guards with black masks and black hoods, you could see not their face, not their personality nor how deep their eyes bored into your very soul, judging you and seeing you as a threat or pawn. For now they saw him as a safe pawn but Gage could only assume that a dagger was never far from their hands. The walk wasn’t very fast, he was young after all and legs did not reach as far as the guards and yet they did not wait for his pace but strided instead forward without care.
Finally at the door of his fate or doom, opened and there with back faced to him was a tall domineering woman. He could see her porcelain face in the reflection as she applied her makeup for the morning. She glanced briefly at him, the rough looking boy of 10 years dwarfed by the two dark figures beside him.
She pursed her lips, maybe at how disappointing he must look or maybe to apply her lipstick. She smacked her lips and her velvet red lips frowned at him through the mirror, not once turning his way as if getting direct eye contact with his existence would be unsavoury.

“Tell me boy, what did King Silvestes tell you” if an owl could speak it would be how this woman sounded. Haughty and sharp.
“I am to travel to Ilcor and find pawns in the mage’s academy for our kingdom” one would be taken aback maybe by the words coming from such a young boy, but it was indeed his mission. He had been chosen from among many other boys and girls for his intelligence and proficient swimming capabilities, for the second task of the land of Ilcor was to swim and win in a battle of wit against the magical clams at the bottom of the ocean. He felt proud and nervous at being the one to have been chosen, but he knew how important this mission was even at his young age. Liorna needed talented individuals to strike down the wicked and judgmental Ilcor who chose based off of such systems, yet to infiltrate their people he must go about their ways and do the trials they set about, no matter how much he hated the thought of going about their ways.
The Queen nodded her head, smacked her lips to rub the lipstick in and waved him off
“Wait in the cargo. We will be heading out very soon. I hope you will not disappoint me” and the door was shut and off he went, not knowing if he would ever return.
