Prologue

A long time ago, humanity was plunged into darkness by an abominable being that spread bloodshed and desolation everywhere it went. Its destructive power was so immense that no one could oppose it. Its name, Mesophagia, became the very symbol of fear. Faced with this terrifying creature, this demon ; humanity could do nothing but witness its own extinction, powerless. But in the depths of this despair, a glimmer of hope emerged. Five heroes stepped forward in response to the horrors wrought by the symbol of terror. These five, who swiftly stood against the monster and rose as protectors of humanity, each possessed extraordinary strength and unique powers, just like Mesophagia. Each of them had the ability to control one of the five elements of nature: water, earth, fire, lightning, and wind. With humanity's fate in their hands, these heroes, after a year of intense preparation, decided to face Mesophagia in one final, merciless battle. This confrontation would come to be known as the Battle of the Apocalypse. After a grueling fight that lasted several days, the heroes, by combining their powers, managed to defeat the creature ; but not entirely. They had been unable to kill the symbol of terror, and in a last-ditch effort, they were forced to imprison it in a dimensional prison. Still, it was a victory, for humanity had escaped extinction and earned a reprieve. In gratitude for their life-saving deeds, those whom the heroes had rescued granted them the status of humanity's saviors and bestowed upon them the title of "Elementalists," in honor of their powers. Furthermore, humanity provided them with all the resources they requested to prepare for Mesophagia's eventual return. Yet, centuries passed with no sign of the monster. Peace gradually took root and grew strong, causing humans to lose their fear of the beast. They even began to dismiss Mesophagia as a myth, forgotten by time. Worse, they grew to despise and hate the descendants of the original Elementalists, who had inherited their ancestors' powers. Seen as parasites who contributed nothing and only consumed, the once-respected Elementalists were cast aside by society. Moreover, those powers they possessed, were they not, in truth, the real demons? The real monsters? As time passed, these ideas took root and grew in the hearts of the people. Finally, the inevitable moment came when the Brotherhood of Elementalists, which had been created to guide and train the Elementalists, was dissolved, scattering them to the four winds. The Elementalists found themselves stripped of all rights and treated worse than an outcast.
