Musnuf groaned, How am I supposed to deal with this as*hole? He’d completely overpowered him.
The chains disappeared by themself after a few minutes and he was free. He jumped up from the ground. He looked for the other disciple. He’d doused the fire but he was in no fit state.
A long trailing chain extended down from the sky and coiled around his foot. He looked very afraid with his half-cooked face and was yanked up into the sky.
It must be Elder Flower.
He felt exhausted, his clothes were a mess, he was a mess. He had his webnovel in his pocket and he couldn’t use it. He was bound to a sect that he couldn’t escape unless he performed a rite that could rip everything away from and even if he escaped from this sect. It wouldn’t matter. His life would be in peace for a year or so and then the Great Hegemon of the Black Jade Sect woke up.
He sat back down on his butt. This was too much for him. He wasn’t meant for this. He liked eating junk food, playing games and being an absolute waste-man.
I still have to get a single ring. He got back up and started wandering around. It was with less enthusiasm but he kept his eyes peeled open and the wave of emotions at bay.
Then he spotted a cave. He started walking down to it. It was quite muddy near the entrance. An ominous feeling rose up in his chest and he spotted a pair of dark red eyes in there. He started backing away slowly.
He slipped and fell down on the ground. He started scrambling away on all fours and a roar burst out of the cave. His ears started ringing but he couldn’t stop.
A giant bear burst out of the cave. It’s fur was matted in red here and there. Steam emanated off its body. Musnuf turned around to look at it. It had a conspicuous red ring on its foot.
He started strategizing. Everything melted away and his sole focus was on survival. I have to provoke it.
Musnuf got up and started backing away. He formed a giant stone wall all of a sudden. His nose started bleeding out with the sudden outflux of essence. His head started hurting. This was by far the biggest illusion he’d attempted. Once he was far enough, he started circling back.
He climbed over the cave’s mouth. The bear was confused and it pawed at the illusion. I have to finish this fast.

He focused on its foot and the wall burst into flames. A giant semi-circle of fire extended out in a circle around the bear. It roared but this time there was a hint of fear. The circle of fire was just an illusion but he had to convince the bear it was real.
The bear tried to paw at the flame and he formed a whip of his ghost flame and lashed it at its hands. He started making it smaller. The bear backed away until it was in its cave.
It was a delicate process and blood was flowing out of his nose like a waterfall. He clutched onto consciousness like he was in a war. I’m going to win!
Once the bear was in the cave, he executed the next step. He formed a giant brick wall in front of the cave. He needed it to stay there. Now he was stuck. He didn’t have an unlimited amount of essence and no way to deal with it.
He let the wall dissipate, the construct fading. He wiped the blood off and shuddered. He started meditating. It wasn’t the right place but he had to recover his essence. Stay in there, stay in there…
Once he’d recovered his essence to a respectable degree he started thinking. Killing it was not the only option. He just had to get his hands on the ring.
He started thinking and formed a flame. It burst into fire on top of his hand. He molded it into a chain and cast an illusion on it. He made it pitch black. It was like wrapping an illusionary tape around the chain.
He hopped down from the cave and sent it in. He couldn’t see in too much but he did make out its eyes and that was all he needed. He guided the chain to its face and the beast growled. It must’ve been feeling the heat.
The chain burst out, the illusion dissipating the moment he no longer needed it and it coiled around the beast's eyes.
He poured as much essence into it as possible. THe beast roared and he stumbled, blood pouring from his ears. It felt like a sharp needle had been shoved into his ears.
The creature blasted its way out of the cave. Its fur bursting into fire. It swiped in a haphazard manner trying to get rid of its pain.
Musnuf just backed away and smiled. Once the creature was done with its rampage. It whimpered and coiled up onto itself.
He was waiting. He used Amplification to heighten its feelings of exhaustion and despair. That was what he needed.
He crept up on it and shoved his dagger into its throat. He was about to pull out but the bear swiped at him. He was launched across the clearing and crashed into a tree. The air was knocked out of him. He felt horrible.
Blood was bursting out of its throat like a geyser and it started rampaging. It took off running. Swiping, destroying and burning away anything in its path.
Musnuf got up and started chasing after it. A trail of blood left in its wake. It wasn’t easy to take life from a creature.
It was a matter of time before it stumbled onto a person and it happened to be Enduring Wave. His light blue robe with the knitted wave pattern was launched away. He rolled away on the ground and spotted the ring as well.
Musnuf groaned. Brilliant. How lucky can he be?
