6:00 am. Tuesday.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Reach for the phone to turn it off.
Stretch.
Yawn.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Begin to open my eyes slowly—the light from the window peers through the blinds.
Turn off the alarm.
Yawn.
Eyes fully open.
Good morning, world. Another day at the old grind.
Why am I at the end of the bed by my feet? I'll crawl up to the pillow. Let me take some of these covers down and crawl into bed a bit more.

It's a face. It's my face. What the hell? Am I still dreaming? There's my girlfriend, and there's me, just sleeping. I must be having the weirdest dream.
BARK BARK BARK!
Why can't I speak? And why am I, or my body for that matter, waking up. My body begins yawning and moving around.
BARK BARK.
His (my?) eyes are fully open now. I feel I am looking at myself with the most confusing look.
BARK BARK!
"What are you so loud about?" My girlfriend asks, shooting up and throwing the sheets off of her.
BARK BARK!
"Good morning, dad!!!" my body greets me as a human version of me begins to lick my face.
Dad?
I look down at my hands. They're white, furry paws. Immediately I know what is going on.
At this moment, I realized that I woke up as my dog, and my dog as I. By looking at myself, or my body for that matter, my human body, I can tell that my body realized this too. I think in the commotion, there was some calming and sense.
What is the BARK going on? How the BARK did this happen?
"Dad?" Magnolia, who is now in my body, looks at me and asks quietly. "Dad, what happens?" She continues.
Bark bark.
"Jason, what the hell are you doing?" My girlfriend says to my body, which Magnolia is now steering. I look at Mallory. Magnolia stays looking at me.
Bark.
I need a way to communicate with them. Let's see. Books? No. Keyboard? Maybe. Oh! Ouiji board!
Bark bark! I begin jumping at the board on the shelf.
Mallory, please pick up on the signal.
"What magnolia? Jason, your daughter, is hyper today," she says playfully.
Angry Bark. Growl.
"You need to go out, girl?" She says.
Angrier bark. Growling intensifies.
I finally jump high enough to reach the board. I start barking loud when I paw it. Mallory must've got the signal because she went for it and laid it out on the bed.
Holding the magnifying glass in my paws is way more challenging than it looks. Not having thumbs is so unnatural.
H... E... L... L... O.
I begin saying on the board.
M... E... SPACE... A... N... D... SPACE... M... A... G... SPACE... S... W... I... T... C... H... SPACE... B... O... D...Y.
Mallory stays silent, staring at what is the textbook facial expression of disbelief.
