It was about morning now. I woke up to the sound of the bustling streets and the lights.
I realized I had become extremely sensitive to light. I also felt a sense of weakness.
I went towards the window to look outside, and there it was: a street filled with people and food.
I don't have an urge to eat any food; maybe it's because I drank the blood of two humans. I'm really curious about how long it can sustain me.
I've already started calling humans food.
I need to keep the calculations in check, or I will end up going berserk like I did before.
I noticed knights walking toward the house where I was staying.
"Hello, is anybody here?"
One of the knights said as the other one kept continuously knocking the door.
KNOCK.
KNOCK.
KNOCK.
They seemed extremely impatient. I mean, obviously, one of their members had died, but I think the root of this frustration wasn't because their mates had died but because they were made to do the task of going house to house.
They will probably just ask the old man some questions and leave.
I kept my eyes down. The old man soon opened the door and came out.
"Hey, old man, did you see anything suspicious yesterday?"
"No, as you can see, I'm blind; I can't actually see anything."
He replied. It was the truth, and even the knights could not disagree.
"There's no point in asking him any questions; he's blind. What would he even know?"
The knight, who had stayed silent, told the other knight.
Thankfully, they're impatient. If the old man had said something about me coming to his house at night, then it would put me under suspicion.
Alright, I think I should go outside a bit and take a look at the surroundings. Living in the modern world and living here seem completely different.
I immediately rushed to take a bath and freshen up.
----
Not long after, I was looking around the markets in the city when a realization hit me: I had no money.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
What can I even do without money? Money is everything in this world.
Walking around the city, however, helped me gather quite a bit of data.
This is Corrin City in the Barn Kingdom. The city was recently taken over by the Barn Kingdom, but a proper establishment of power hasn't been placed yet, and the city lord hasn't even been chosen yet.
The currency in this world was with respect to grains; a single bronze coin could grant you enough grains for a one-time meal. A silver coin's value was 10 times that of the bronze, and a gold coin's value was 100 times that of the bronze.
Well, to buy anything at all, I'll need money, and to earn money, I'll need to start a job.
I'm a fucking vampire. A vampire working for a Plebeian human, the same creature they use as a food source.
Honestly, there was no need for the vampires to consume human blood, but the thing is, human blood was extremely rich in nutrients and mana. This caused their blood to have a very addictive taste that gave them a sense of orgasmic pleasure when ingested.
Well, I don't necessarily have a need for money right now, but I need some new clothes. I borrowed this white shirt and brown linen pants from the blind old man, but I do regret not being able to pay him back.
An idea struck my head.
I moved to one of the most crowded areas of the market and started to cut down people's pockets using my sharpened nails.
The people did not seem to notice.
When did I fall so far, I had to turn to stealing for a living. No, I'll soon be back on track. I need to plan out the creation of a new organisation that will be under my control.
I instinctively knew that I could create new vampires by turning humans into one of us. Unlike me sucking them off their blood, I need to inject them with my own blood. But I can't do this recklessly.
I don't know the drawbacks of this ability. Let's be patient and slowly grow my sphere of influence.
After stealing five money pouches, I decided it was enough for today. Pooling together the money, it had 25 bronze, 9 silver, and 2 gold coins.
Not bad.
I think I can satisfy my endless thirst for clothes with this.
I quickly rushed to the nearest clothing store.
This clothing store had an aura of minimalism—just the thing I wanted. It was the clothing of not only the rich but also not of the poor. It was for the people in between.
These clothes were similar to those popular in the modern age.
As I entered the store, a woman came forward and asked me what kind of clothing I was looking for.
"Black."
"Dark."
These were the two words that escaped my mouth. She could understand where I was coming from. She took me inside and started showing me a huge collection of clothes.
I bought them. 20 clothes in particular and had them packed in a bag. It just cost me one gold coin.
I'm pretty happy with this trade, not gonna lie. What else could I have asked for?
While returning to the house of the old man, something caught my eye. It was the poor beggars.
I could not stand seeing them hungry.
"Alright, you know what? I'll be your Robin Hood."
I made my way towards one of the food stores and asked them to pack 10 meals for me.
"It will be two silvers."
I slipped my hands into my pocket and removed two silver coins.
I asked the man at the store to keep my clothes with him for a while as I took the 10 packs of meals with me. Before feeding it to them, I opened each and every one of them and checked if all of the food was properly filled.
It seems like this might be enough to fill them up for today.
I made my way towards the group of 10 beggars and gave one pack of meals to each of them.
They looked at me with hopeful eyes, thanking me continuously as they ate the food I gave them.
Yes, keep looking at me like that. I'm such a saint, aren't I?
I couldn't keep it in anymore; a smirk appeared on my face as I looked down on them. So as not to let them see, I turned around and started walking back to the store where I kept my clothes.
"Ppftt... Hahaha..." I laughed.
Those pathetic faces had no idea, did they? I spat into each and every one of their meals.
I couldn't keep my laughter to myself and kept laughing loudly as I walked towards the store.
"When did I even become such a demon?" I questioned as I wiped away a tear from my eyes, which had appeared due to laughing too much.
