Chapter 10 - A Princess in a Shining Armor

Chapter 10 - A Princess in a Shining Armor

A series of knocks could be heard coming from the door. The visitor seemed panicked, as his attacks got faster and noisier with each moment he was left unnoticed. The hero ignored it at first, and I would have done the same, thinking about how he looked now.

Luckily enough, he hadn't slept in the nude, but this habit had worked against him. A penetrating smell came from the wet shirt that stuck to his chest. The blanket that had protected it at first didn't look exactly good, either. The whole bed looked like a weird mixture of a battlefield and the aftermath of a nightmare a small child had.

All of this chaos was only further aggravated by the sharp, loud yelps I tried to fight the hero with when he chased me through the room and his own, not much quieter attacks. Naturally, I would never allow myself to be caught by him. He was filthy and he smelled like a dog's favorite tree!

"Masaru?" Myra's voice ringed in my ears. "What has happened?! What is all that noise? Open up!"

It was obvious the hero hesitated. He didn't want to be seen, neither did I. Who would want to be known as a bed wetter? Well, I was a fox now, so maybe they would expect something like this, but I still couldn't get used to this one fact.

When he finally had decided to open the door, Myra's voice had already become desperate. He slowly pushed open the door latch, before pulling down the handle even more slowly.

"What did take you so long?!" Her realization came as sudden as her arrival: "What did you do?! What is that smell?! Why was Ahri screaming like that?! She looks petrified!"

«Of course I was! He made me piss myself! He tried to touch me with his filthy hands!»

"She," the hero began after some hesitation, "she had to use the toilette."

The color of Myra's face changed "Is all of that- WHY DIDN'T YOU LET HER GO OUTSIDE!"

«Yes! Tell him, girl! Tell him what a bastard he is!»

The hero desperately tried to explain himself. Within just a minute, he had told her everything that had happened the last night, how I had hidden under the bed, how he had woken up on me trying to climb on him to 'cuddle' and how I had wet his bed. He left out the part of him not waking up on time, though.

«Does he really want to put all of the blame onto me?! It clearly is his fault!»

No, I couldn't accept this. This was his fault, his alone! I couldn't kill him today, but I would at least get back at him!

My plan was formed long before the two had finished their discussion. I was just walking towards Myra, keeping my gaze and tail down while trying my best to imitate an injured animal.

A series of pitiful whimpers left my mouth as I limped towards the girl. I hid between her legs, trying to look as desperate and frightened as possible. The hero became petrified when he saw me like this.

"I- I hurt her?!"

"You did WHAT?!"

"I only chased her! I didn't want to hurt-"

His words were cut off as sudden as brutal, as Myra's hand landed on his cheek with a loud slap. Once again, it became silent.

«Don't purr now, Talia! You are a 'badly hurt' baby fox! He 'mistreated' and 'bullied' you! Don't purr!»

I immediately averted my eyes, tug in my tail in between my legs and began licking Myra's boots, once again imitating the most pitiful existence you would find in this world.

Myra reacted without wasting another word, She just picked me up from the ground and embraced me, before attacking for one last time: "I never thought you would be like this!"

«... I want to marry this moment.»

Before the hero could even react or find words that would be able to calm her down again, Myra had already fled through the door. A faint, vibrating sound could be heard as she carried me down the stairs, towards freedom and hopefully a peaceful rest.
