Prologue

Prologue

The smell of steel and blood wafted in the air. Fallen warriors scattered on  the battlefield like petals of roses torn and ravaged by harsh winds.

“Do not falter! We can win this!”

A brave encouragement from a brave man snapped them out from exhaustion and the thought of giving up. Little by little, they picked up their weapons and mentally cheered themselves on. They can do this.

“We can do this,” she whispered, her chest heavy as she drew in a breath that caused a sharp pang due to the wound inflicted on her side. She stabs her sword into the ground to propel herself up, knuckles pale as she grips the handle tighter.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

“Yes, Tia,” followed by a man’s voice that had come from behind her. “Giving up is not in our book, is it?”

His golden hair still shone bright despite how disheveled he was. His blue eyes still held the mysteries of the ocean even though it felt like they were about to lose. A smile still tugged at the corners of his mouth as he, himself, stood up once more.

The moment his shadow stretched on the ground, it was akin to that of a spell that boosted everyone else’s morale.

“No,” she answered as she, too, stood up.

Indeed, she longed for a peaceful life. One without any existence threatening her safety. And she thought she’d found it.

However, in such a world, peace could only be attained through bloodshed.

Perhaps getting herself into a romance novel would be for another time.
