Barnabas, alone in the apartment, starts to wonder what he’ll prepare for dinner.

But opening the fridge; he finds only a desolate place with nothing but a half empty carton of milk and an apple in the back.

So then he sets foot on an adventure to find a market to purchase food.

He discovers a grocery store and treks towards the front door.

As the automatic doors slide open and a cool breeze hits him.

He takes a step inside and grabs a basket.

After asking a staff member for directions, he receives a pamphlet with directions to certain aisles.

And then as he starts walking towards the milk section, a couple of older ladies start gushing over his looks and fancy attire and how one of their daughters will be a perfect match.

One of them compliments his looks and Barnabas in a friendly tone replies

“Thank you, kind young ladies” and in which the ladies laugh it off while blushing.

As he finally finishes getting groceries, he walks up to the cashier.

The cashier then said “So, how will you be paying? Cash or Card?”

Barnabas replies with “Cash.”

He pulls out a pouch with coins in it and gives the cashier a silver coin.

Fortunately the cashier is patient and tells Barnabas.

“I’m sorry sir, but we don’t accept silver.. I’d be happy to hold your groceries, and there is a pawnshop just down the road, maybe you can exchange this for our currency.”

Barnabas makes his way down the street and finds the ‘Xavier’s Pawn and Surplus’

He then gives the owner the silver coin and asks for cash in exchange.

Of course the skeptical owner asks Barnabas a few questions like.

“Where did you obtain this?”

And Barnabas replied with “From a friend far from here.”

Of course this pawn shop was a bit skeptical, the owner only asked him

“I see this is pure silver but, I don’t really know where you got this silver and I don’t really care so.. I’ll offer you 60% of the value.. Deal?”

As the owner did the numbers and counted it to

“6 Coins is 57$ so then it’s 34$ you good with that?”

Barnabas has no choice but to accept the offer

the groceries being exactly 34$, he is now penniless, except for the rest of his coins on him.

Barnabas was shocked at how much groceries were, and started pondering about getting a side job to pay for things.

But for now Barnabas has to make it back to the apartment and start preparing for dinner.

As he walks back, He encounters a cat. He sets the groceries down and squats to get a better reach of the cat; But as he reaches for the cat, the cat walks away.

Determined to pet the cat; He opens a bag of dried squid snack, and tries to lure the cat to come closer.

The cat does come back, but very slowly and cautiously.

Barnabas places a tentacle just a little far from him.

The cat takes the bait and eats the tentacle.

He then reaches out his hand with another tentacle in hand.

The cat then comes closer and snatches the tentacle from his hand and runs towards an alley.

Chasing the cat into the alley; He discovers a haven of cats.. Or is it a haven?

With a full squid on hand, the entire clutter of cats set their eyes on the prize and started chasing our poor Barnabas.

Barnabas now squidless and tired; gives up and goes back home..

Now at the apartment, he puts the groceries away and gets the ingredients for dinner.

Barnabas puts on his apron and begins prepping.

And then voilà!

Now Barnabas only has to wait for the rice to finish cooking.

Barnabas finds himself some time; He sees the television in the living room, and wonders

“Hmm.. I wonder what’s on”

As he switches the television on.

A show starts playing “The Magic Of The Cat Tres”

Intrigued by the show's title, he watches as the show starts.

“One Cat, Two Cats, Tres Cats!” the announcer says

Cat one suddenly poofs into smoke

Cat two melts into liquid.

Then suddenly “Cat tres will now perform a never seen before action!”

In a blink of an eye; Cat tres disappears. And reappears in front of Barnabas?!

Cat tres then starts to levitate in front of Barnabas and says

“Barnabas, Oh Barnabas. We will watch you and keep watching you.. Remember the deal..”

Barnabas then wakes up, and realizes that he fell asleep.

As the rice cooker clicks to notify that the rice is done cooking.

The front door creaks open and reveals a tired and depleted Sasha.

Barnabas greets her and invites her to eat dinner as he stands in the kitchen awaiting to clean the dishes afterwards.

Sasha, still surprised that he is still there, suddenly doesn’t mind about anything in the world after seeing the dinner that awaited her.

After a hard day's work, she sheds a tear and starts eating to her heart's content.

The day ends with a warm meal. And the night goes on..

When morning comes Barnabas prepares for another meal filled with love.
