My Problems Are Getting Worse

After Dragan’s attack, we were ordered to stay by the camp at night, but that was something I couldn’t do. The full moon was going to rise and I needed to get away from my classmates before I changed. To be honest, it’s kind of cool. There is always this risk that I’ll be discovered, and I love playing with it, though it can be inconvenient at times. However, that game had gotten a bit too real for my liking.

I stopped by Ivanka’s cottage, and fidgeted with the towel I was holding as I quickly thought about what to tell her. I’d been avoiding her for the past couple of days, and I really needed to talk with her, but I didn’t even know where to start. Do I tell her the truth? Do I beg her not to tell anyone? Do I… do I go on my knees and beg her not to break our friendship over this? I whimpered. Damn, this was hard.

“Ok, Mirko, you’re a grown up wolf. You can do this,” I told myself,

Then, I took in a deep breath to gather courage, and raised a hand to knock on the door. That’s when I noticed her scent, still fresh, going into the forest. My hair bristled.

“Shit! You wouldn’t have gone into the forest looking for me, would you?” I whimpered.

The moon was going to rise in not too long, but I couldn’t let Ivanka get hurt by whatever beast my foolish classmates had angered. This was no city park, this was a forest, home to bears, lynxes and wolves. I left the towel hanging on the door’s handle, got on all fours and followed her scent into the woods. As I ran, I started to feel a warm energy seeping into my blood, muscles and bones. Some changes started to appear in my body, something that was somewhat normal. My fingertips turned into thick, black pads, my body hair got thicker and turned gray, my fangs grew larger and a long, furry tail sprouted from my back. As annoying as it was feeling it trapped inside my pants, I kept on running.

“Stay away from me!” I heard Ivanka’s voice not far from where I was, and right after that there was a bloodcurdling growl that bristled the hair on the back of my neck.

“Shit!” I exclaimed, and sped up.

I was going so fast that my muscles felt hot, and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to keep the change under control for much longer. I didn’t care. Whether I looked like a wolf, or a human, I had to help Ivanka. With a loud growl, I broke through the bushes and pounced right at the lynx that had cornered my friend against a tree. I hit it with my body’s full weight and sent it rolling on the ground. The poor creature yowled, more out of surprise than pain. That’s when I noticed the three pairs of little eyes looking from within a hole between the roots of a nearby tree. Kittens. So my idiot classmates had ran into a lynx den and mamma lynx was just protecting her cubs.

“Lets go!”

Before the female lynx could recover and face me, because she looked pissed enough to want to take my wolf ass on, I stood up and grabbed Ivanka’s hand to drag her away. The lynx roared and made an attempt to follow, but we managed to run away before she had another chance to attack us. Hey, I’m a jackass, but I’m not a heartless bastard. I don’t want to hurt that poor murder kitten who was just doing her job.

Not too far from the lynx den I saw a small, stone and wood cottage, similar in style to the camp’s cabins. I got inside and closed the door behind us to keep that pissed off cat away. Panting, I let myself fall to the wooden floor and realized that this was not an abandoned cabin. No, it was a ranger shelter, with a cozy looking bed and all. This would have been an amazing place for a steamy encounter if I wasn’t just about to turn into a furry.

“Hey, Janković… thanks for helping me out there…” said Ivanka, who was sitting next to me and was panting as heavily as I was.

“No problem… but you shouldn’t… go petting... murder kittens…” I said as I panted, and my voice sounded deeper than usual. “Why were you… out there?”

Ivanka started fidgeting with her hands.

“I wanted to believe you, but I needed to be sure. That’s where Dragan got attacked. I was looking for paw prints.”

“So what? Do you believe me now that I had nothing to do with what happened to Dragan?” I said, and I couldn’t hold back a growl.

“I’m sorry, okay? But you did kill and devour that poor deer,” said Ivanka, and she didn’t even flinch when I looked at her straight in the eye.

“Yeah, I did, and it was the damn best dinner I’ve had in days!”

To my surprise, she chuckled, and I felt a weight lift off my chest.

“You’re such a freak, but you’re right. The food here is horrible,” she said as she rested her head on my shoulder.

My heart skipped a beat and I looked down at her. There was a smile on her lips, and the thought of kissing her crossed my mind. It was the perfect situation. Both of us alone, in this cabin, Ivanka leaning against me and her irresistible scent driving me crazy, like the pathetic wolf in heat that I was. So why not?

“So, you are a werewolf,” she said.

“No point in denying it now, right?” I chuckled nervously. Then I stood up and moved away from her. I didn’t even dare to look at her. “The full moon is about to rise. Aren’t you afraid of me?”

“Afraid? Please, Mirko.” Ivanka walked to me and gave me a little, playful shove on the shoulder. There was a smile on her lips. “I’m a biologist. I want to study you.” she looked me up and down with a gaze that immediately set my blood on fire.

“Think you can handle me in my big, bad wolf self?” I said, and playfully growled against her neck as I had done so many times. Damn, this was getting exciting.

“Test me,” Ivanka raised her head defiantly and held my gaze. There was a challenging smile in her lips, and I very happily accepted the challenge.

“You asked for this.”

I cornered her against the wall and covered her mouth with mine. Suddenly, her hands were all over my hair, and I was pushing my body against her as we kissed furiously, savoring each other with unleashed passion. Damn, she was a good kisser. I growled softly when I felt her hands run down my body and start to unzip my pants, and growled even louder when I felt my tail free and she started caressing it. I stopped kissing her lips and started nibbling her jaw and neck with my fangs while I breathed in her scent. She smelled so good I was close to losing it completely, and the way she breathed with ragged gasps and moans definitely wasn’t helping.

Unfortunately, as awesome as this was being, it couldn’t last. The moon was starting to rise, and I felt its pull tugging at me. I could not escape it, not even by sheer will. All wolves changed when the full moon rose, that’s how it went. With a mischievous smile, I pulled away from her and quickly got rid of the rest of my clothes. Completely naked, I opened my arms to show myself in all my, well, unattractive naked glory. Whatever she saw in me, it sure wasn’t how hot I was.

“I warned you, Ivanka, but you wanted this. Now you’re trapped in here with me,” I said.

“Oh, shut up and change already, you big, dumb wolf,” she said, laughing, and my smile grew wider. She was accepting me. Damn, she was amazing!

The moon rose. I felt her caress seeping into my body. With a deep breath, I let myself go because there was no reason to fight it. Changes during a full moon were so much easier, and in the blink of an eye I was in my wolf-like body, standing on my doggy paws and with my skin covered in dark gray fur. A bit shyly, as this was the first time anyone other than my family saw me change, I wagged my tail and lowered a bit my ears. I couldn’t smile, for my face was like that of a wolf, muzzle and all, and I couldn’t talk either, so all I could do was behave like a big, furry dog. Ivanka giggled and walked up to me to put her arms around my neck. Her lips were curved in such a lovely smile even I couldn’t ignore it.

“You’re such a freak, Janković,” she said with a purr, and kissed me again.
