Prologue

There were statues.

An uncountable number of statues floating in the void of space. Each of them intricately carved as if the masterwork of a great sculptor.

All of them were covered in glowing lines that looked like they were painted on. Some of them had more and some had less. Every so often, a statue completely covered in the lines would shatter and disappear into stardust.

It wasn't real. He wasn't sure how he knew that but he did. He could feel it in his bones.

Something was happening but it wasn't this.

'Mom always said that I played too many games.'

'...'

'I'll make it back. Somehow, I'll make it back. I always do.'

'...'

'This would be a lot less annoying if I could actually move.'

He narrowly whizzed past another statue.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Bored of his situation, he tried looking at one further ahead

His eyes tried to focus in on it, trying to absorb every detail. Every crease and fold of their clothing. Every strand of hair and every scar. The way they tied their belt and the style of flask they carried.

Then he passed it and the statue left view.

He mentally clicked his tongue and picked out another statue to look at.

This continued until he noticed something new.

Somehow, despite looking directly forward, he had failed to notice the massive sphere in front of him. Blues, greens, and browns covered the surface. White swirls were layered atop without care.

'Ahhh' He sighed mentally. 'That is lovely.'

He paid attention as another statue came hurtling from the direction of the planet.

This one was a young man wearing some sort of fancy robes. His short hair was whipping wildly as if he'd slammed his face into an unexpected fist. His body was lifted from the platform of the statue via a few supports. A token was flying out of his hand and several items were spilling out of a pouch on his belt.

He mentally waved as the statue zipped away like all the rest.

Suddenly, he felt himself speed up.

He was bursting through the atmosphere. He was lighting up the sky.

He saw a continent, a country, a province, a city, a district, a building, a young man.

Then he saw nothing at all.
