Standing before a Revelation Stage beast, Sammuel stood his ground, ready with everything at his disposal. He had been theorizing countless combinations of [Ego] these past few days and he had finally done it.
As nonsensical as it seemed, the most terrifying [Ego] he had in his possession was a very old one. [Ego: Runic Bear] was his strongest considering complete brute force.
[Name: Sammuel Arthus
Ego: Runic Bear
Card Quality: Silver
Star Quality: 2 | 50/50 | 5.97/100%
Affinity Level: 56.5%
Combat Power: 2,945]
Such a terrifying point was only possible due to two reasons, [Ego Fusion] and the battlefield. The beasts that Alyur had sent were finally reaching the points where even the strongest beasts residing within the Hallowed Gap were coming out.
One of the most terrifying creatures settled within the horde was the Runic Bears. They bit and tore apart countless soldiers with their oppressive strength. With so many creatures, he had similarly gained a terrifying amount of duplicates.
Sammuel then used [Ego Fusion] to use all the copies he received and empowered the strongest Card he had. It was safe to say that with such a lively battlefield, it didn’t take long for Sammuel to finally receive such a terrifyingly powerful [Ego].
As for the other [Ego], it had taken Sammuel multiple attempts but he finally settled on the other.
[Name: Sammuel Arthus
Ego: Base
Card Quality: Silver
Star Quality: 2 | 43/50 | 58.32/100%
Affinity Level: 18.5%
Combat Power: 476]
The other [Ego] he had chosen was [Ego: Base]. The reasoning was simple, [Skills]. His victorious streak against the Monster Faction had rewarded him with completely insane [Skills] that were absurdly powerful. As it turned out, for him to properly use all of them, he needed to either use an appropriate [Ego] or for him to use his [Ego: Base].
[Switch Ego: Runic Bear | Ego: Base]
[Combat Power: 3,521]
It was slightly stronger due to [Ego: Base] amplifying what [Ego: Runic Bear] lacked. With such a high Combat Power, he was already achieving strength to what a Revelation Stage entity would have. Sammuel’s base Combat Power was almost three times more than what a normal human would have.
Unfortunately, in the end, it all relied on [Skills]. Facing this Brazen Wulf, Sammuel had to use everything at his disposal. It wasn’t going to be an easy fight. Its metallic coating prevented anything from piercing its flesh.
Despite having a wolf-like appearance, it maneuvered similar to that of an armadillo, always protecting its underbelly at all times. Gaps where metallic plates on its skin had given it the flexibility that it required.
Sammuel steadied his weapon and stared down at his target.
[Combat Power: 7,241]
This was more than double what his current base Combat Power was. Such a powerful foe would be even in the upper echelons of strength in the Revelation Stage. Sammuel wasn’t discouraged by this at all, in fact, he welcomed such a challenge.
For him to gain enough power to try and stand on his own two feet, he needed to have this much power. At the bare minimum.
With everything happening all at once, Sammuel didn’t hold back at all. He knew the consequences of his actions but he had perfectly calculated everything.
[Blessing of Domination | Gain Combat Power: +324 | Sammuel: 3,845]
[Greater Blessing of Moonlight | Gain Combat Power: +681 | Sammuel: 4,526]
The most potent power amplification he could currently muster. It was evident that using such powerful blessings would impose incredible strain on a mortal’s body. Yet oddly enough, Sammuel felt no burden. It was it was his own power all along, stolen from another.
Now, this was where Sammuel’s [Ego] finally started to shine.
“I’m still a long way off but…” Sammuel’s glossy white skin and murderous red aura made him stand out from the battlefield. Both soldiers and beasts turned their gazes at Sammuel. His very existence seemed to be out of this world. “Skills really are quite important, aren’t they?”
[Mana Sense | Gain Combat Power: +68 | Sammuel: 4,594]
[Mind’s Eye | Gain Combat Power: +48 | …]
[Ravenous Strength | …]
[...]
A series of powerups that he had stolen from those in the Monster Faction. Even questionable [Skills] such as [Instinctual Rage] innate to beastmen were usable. Any and every [Skill] to his disposal, he had managed to completely use it.
Sammuel’s strength rose through the skies, he was no longer the weakling he was back then. Through the hard work of countless living beings, Sammuel had taken it upon his back to continue with their efforts. Sammuel had reached the point where even he had to take himself seriously.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
As he finished up the weaker powerups, Sammuel finally reached the point where he could use his strongest [Skills].
[Flash | Gain Combat Power: +383 | Sammuel: 9,205]
[Flowing Swordsmanship: First Form | Gain Combat Power: +478 | Sammuel: 9,683]
[Barbaric Bloodlust | Gain Combat Power: +576 | Sammuel: 10,259]
Sammuel’s entire skillset had been used all for this moment. But it still wasn’t over, there was still one last ability that Sammuel still hadn’t used yet. It was the most powerful one he had learned this entire time.
[Art of Killing | Gain Combat Power: +1,699 | Sammuel: 11,958]
In such a short amount of time, Sammuel had reached the point where he was no longer the weakling he was. During times of war, those truly great would come out to show themselves. Men were solely divided into two groups, those who were unfortunate enough to live past such a tragedy and the heroes of the new generation.
Sammuel eyed the Brazen Wulf that seemed completely harmless.
“I thought this was going to be a difficult battle. I’ve prepared so much for this moment.” Sammuel said with a slightly disappointed voice. “[Ego]... I don’t know what they were talking about. Just how could this ever seem fair?”
The Brazen Wulf noticed Sammuel’s gaze on it. Feeling threatened, it struck first. The metallic hide on its body was formidable, enough to make Sammuel still wary of it. Despite only having a Combat Power of 7,241, as a Revelation Stage beast, it was still formidable. The only saving grace it had was the fact that it had a nearly indestructible shell.
Sammuel’s slashes weren’t enough to tear through it’s hide at all. Taking his sword out, he took a step forward, appearing directly behind the Brazen Wulf. In the very next instant, countless sparks appeared on the Brazen Wulf. Such powerful sparks were enough to nearly blind nearby soldiers.
Even other Revelation Stage beings weren’t capable of handling such strikes head-on. One of the strongest people on the battlefield, a Revelation Stage expert, would not be able to handle a single slash from Sammuel right now.
It was absurd.
Despite only using two peak Awakened Stage [Ego], he was already stronger than most Revelation Stage experts on the battlefield. This reason solely came from one core, Sammuel’s [Skills]. He had far too many active at once yet for some unknown reason, Sammuel didn’t bear the strain on it at all.
This was completely overwhelming. The power to use so many abilities without any immediate drawback was absurdly powerful.
Sammuel shook his head. This didn’t seem to be working at all. It was time for him to try another approach. Sammuel dropped his sword, Fevervent Fang, and clenched his fists.
[Hardened Fist | Gain Combat Power: +666 | …]
Sammuel’s fists became lethal weapons within the blink of an eye. This was his most powerful state. Yet this wasn’t his most powerful attack yet. With [Skills] there were two types, a buff or debuff type that either increased or decreased Combat Power and attack types. These attack types were [Skills] that didn’t increase one’s Combat Power but offered devastating attacks.
One of these terrifying attack [Skills] was the [Annihilation Nova] that Vzelaa and Alyur used to completely decimate countless foes. The sheer terror and power behind this attack no longer needed to be said.
Now Sammuel was finally going to use one.
[Weak Point]
As the name suggested, points would appear on his opponent’s body, similar to that of shining lights, where Sammuel would be able to deal more damage. This relied on the mastery of the opponent and the user, reducing the amount of shining lights based on each other.
The Brazen Wulf was a beast, as such, Sammuel’s perception of where it was weak was highly increased. With one glance, it was clear that the underbelly of the beast would be its vital weak point. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t open up that easily.
Sammuel chose to attack the Brazen Wulf through another point, its back. As a land animal, it had a spine. If Sammuel couldn’t strike through the underbelly, then incapacitating it would achieve the same results.
The Brazen Wulf spins in place, rolling all over the place. It was attempting to find an opportunity where it would be able to strike Sammuel down. It rolled rapidly, creating a small whirlwind. It gathered up dust and dirt on the ground as a small tornado was formed.
The weaker soldiers were starting to get sucked into the vortex. They all tried to leave as such a powerful move would be enough to tear their bodies apart. The other beasts on the Brazen Wulf’s sides weren’t as fortunate though. They were sucked in, unwillingly turned into a pile of bloody mush in the air.
Sammuel was in the very center of the vortex. As the air started to thin out from such a powerful tornado, Sammuel didn’t panic. He was trying to gauge at which point he would be able to land his strike, killing it in one shot.
Even more miscellaneous objects started to conglomerate in the air. Corpses of fallen soldiers and beasts flew in the skies, and some Revelation Stage beings ran off, continuing their battle somewhere else. As the devastating tornado sucked up anything too slow to escape it, Sammuel stayed directly in the middle of it all.
The very air inside was thinning out, similar to that of a vacuum. The Brazen Wulf had chosen to suffocate Sammuel. Through a special set of motions, it was siphoning air from within its area of activity into the outer rim. Yet at the same time, the outer area was also being sucked up, forming this tornado.
It was a scenario that did not conform with any physics of Earth but this was an entirely new world. Sammuel had similarly grown confused with such an arrangement but understood it all the same.
As the Brazen Wulf grew confident in its victory, it had finally made a mistake. It diverted from its initial path to taunt Sammuel. And it was at this moment that it failed.
“I was going to strike the ground below me to disrupt your flow but I guess this works all the same.” Sammuel’s hand was gripped tight. The power held within his fists wasn’t anything that the Brazen Wulf had ever seen before.
As it rolled towards Sammuel, he finally struck a lighted point on its body. His small minuscule human hand struck the metallic hide of such a formidable Revelation Stage monster, shattering it into a million pieces.
Such a blow echoed throughout the battlefield. The tornado had dispersed as there were no longer any forces that created it. Slowly, all the different debris that was flying through the air fell down on the ground. An extremely wide area had many fallen objects, creating a small mountain around Sammuel.
[Gained Ego: Brazen Wulf | Card Quality: Silver | Star Quality: 3 (89/200)
[Assimilation Requirements:
Condition Cleared: Defeat a Revelation Stage creature | Reward: Ego Slot]
“Another [Ego Slot]?” Sammuel couldn’t believe his eyes. He was already such a menace, now, he was only getting stronger. “I should be getting close to their levels…” Sammuel thought of Sadin and Elias, the other two people he had arrived in this world with.
~~~
Sadin had his hands behind his back, he was looking down at a pathetic excuse of a minotaur. Tentacles made out of blue liquid that was reminiscent of water held down Bargom.
“Is that it?” Sadin scoffed. He pressed his foot down, crushing the great axe that Bargom had been so proud of. Despite such humiliation, Bargom could only face it. There was nothing he could do.
“Monster…” Through gritted teeth, Bargom’s crucified body was being hung in the air with countless whip-like entities stretching his entire body out. He didn’t stand a single chance. Despite him being in the Ascendant Realm, he wasn’t even able to fight back against Sadin.
Sadin waved his hand.
“As you wish.” Naia tilted her head, manipulating the water whips into slowly tearing Bargom limb from limb. As his body was at the point of breaking apart, an unexpected occurrence happened.
The whips… had been cut.
“Hmm?” Naia’s deep blue eyes turned to the side. Even Slyph’s easygoing attitude shifted into one of great seriousness.
“Feel that, sis?”
“Obviously, I felt that you dullard. Sadin, you better act nice with this one.” Naia offered her advice before disappearing. Slyph sighed and patted Sadin’s shoulder, doing the very same thing. “You should listen to Naia. This one’s troublesome, I’m afraid you might die too fast.”
“Haha, I apologize but I can’t have you killing this one just yet.” Verim smiled. His silver hair and pearly white teeth heavily contrasted this bloody battlefield. “I’m here to save a certain person and you killing Bargom would make me fail my task.”
“And I never fail.” Verim’s mouth was still smiling but his eyes weren’t.
